The pool is lovely however, in my opinion it is severely lacking in safety. The city has hired a group of highly irresponsible lifeguards. The lifeguards are far more concerned about dancing and putting on some sort of lip sync contest than keeping an eye on the patrons with whom they are charged with overseeing. While I was there, the lifeguards were dancing in their chair towers the entire time, not paying any attention to what was transpiring in the pool. It was a total joke and at minimum, highly unprofessional and lacking in any sort of leadership. There are hundreds of children who are dropped off at this facility by their parents for a day of swimming. Either their parents are unaware of the severe lack of supervision among the lifeguards, or they don't fully understand just how dangerous it is for a lifeguard to not have his or her full attention on the swimmers. I wouldn't trust any of the lifeguards on duty to have the competency or maturity to handle an emergency situation. In fact, I wouldn't trust them to adequately apply a band-aid to a minor wound. It appears that the lifeguards on duty don't know what drowning can look like and that drowning may or may not include a hectic scene of someone yelling for help. Drowning can transpire in a much more covert and unnoticeable fashion, especially among children. The scene at this pool when it comes to safety, is appalling. read more
