Since then, Dairy Queen as a whole has been displaced from the top of my list, first by Harvey's then by Burgermeester. (And now, the new and improved A&W has snuck past DQ into third place.) But still, if I'm looking for a burger and there's a DQ in the area, I'll go there more often than not. But, sadly, not this one. It's not actually bad, you understand. But it just kind of feels like they're phoning it in. I'd still take this DQ over, say, McDonald's. But it's just not as good as other DQs. (And, unfortunately, with Sheetz, Burger King, and Arby's all fairly close, it's just got too much competition for my taste buds.) I don't wish them ill, but they need to pull up their socks to get back in the game.

I can't say I have ever been disappointed. This time, I ordered a large Snickers Blizzard. The rest of my party ordered lunch. The team member at the front counter was quick to take our order and was polite. Looking over the rest of the kitchen, it appeared the staff was adhering to all food safety and health standards. The restaurant was clean. It's hard to find another place with as much value as DQ. You get a lot of food for a little cost. The food and ice cream was out quickly and tasted great. The Blizzard was mixed perfectly and I was getting candy in just about every bite. Overall, this was a great experience and I plan to make one more stop here before I return home.

I love these little independent ice cream stands. Unfortunately, when the big fast food chains move…read moreinto a town, they tend to get driven out of business, but somehow Dairy Delite has survived, even though Warren has multiple fast food joints now. Possibly, that's because it's the only fast food joint on, or even close to, Route 6. (Most of the other options are on Pennsylvania Avenue or Market Street.) Or possibly, it's because the food is really good. The kids were under the impression that they only sell drinks and ice cream. That may have been the case once, but now they offer hot food as well. My grilled chicken sandwich was superb and the broccoli and cheddar bits were a nice break from the usual fries, my sweetie enjoyed her fish sandwich and was delighted by the macaroni and cheese bites, Working Man enjoyed his cheeseburger, and the Cute Little Fluffy Kin raved about the hot dogs. (The hot dogs did smell really good, but I resisted the urge to try to steal some.) I suspect that they may figure out a way to get there even when we're not in town to take them. There is also a very wide selection of ice cream flavours. They take plastic, but charge a dollar more if you don't pay cash. (I don't know how they get away with that.) There are a few picnic tables scattered around, but no inside seating (or washrooms). Any time I've been by during their open season, there has been a lineup at the order windows, so clearly, the locals know that this is a good place to get some grub. It's not fine dining, but it's tasty and fun.

Then the cheeseburger, huge salad, and cheese sandwiches were delivered to my other friends and I had to laugh, because everything looked really good. Not only was the food delicious. The staff were very helpful. When we asked, after the check had come, if they could split the check for the 5 of us, they graciously did a check for each of the couples and for the 5th guest in our party. We hadn't seen each other in a couple years and never felt pressure to vacate our table. A senior hostess visited our table and spent some time talking and reminiscing with us, as many of us had grown up nearby. We felt welcomed and seen. Ambiance: lotsa parking on site and there's a traffic light at the entrance of the group of stores and restaurants. This restaurant is off a heavily trafficked road, so you know the importance of a traffic light to small and local businesses. I wish the chain carried Thousand Island dressing, as I would have had a salad instead of my fries. I would have ordered regular lemonade instead of just drinking ice water. (They have fancy lemonade with cool flavors that my friends really enjoyed). Neither of those are deal breakers, though.
