My husband had a classic cheeseburger and he thought it was excellent. I ordered a Caprese chicken salad. The chicken breast was sliced and laying on top of the salad. It was the most delicious chicken I can ever remember eating. No joke! Tender, moist and flavorful. The salad with the grape tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella w a balsamic reduction was also very good. The people who worked there from the kitchen to the lovely bar were friendly and helpful. To top it all off, it was located across from the Ohio River waterfront park. Some of the items can be a little more expensive than I'd personally like, but overall the prices aren't bad. Service is most generally great. At the beginning of the season, give them grace as they're still training the new employees and they are young. Be kind. The riverfront setting is really what makes The Jug special. However, the execution was lacking....the mushroom sauce did not have a lot of flavor, and instead of "microgreens" like the menu stated, the burger came with salad greens on top (nothing wrong with that; it was just unexpected). I am sure if we ordered another burger we would have liked it better, because the waitress assured us the beef is never frozen, and the patties looked to be a good size and have a nice crust to them. In terms of ambiance, it is more of a hole-in-the-wall find. There was only one other table with people when we arrived, and the two employees were chatting in the kitchen, which you could hear clearly because it is a smaller space. Despite it not being visibly busy, the other tables seemed still to have crumbs on them, and my husband and I had to wipe off our own table before sitting down. Again, I hope this does not come off as being rude or prissy- I wanted to like this place so badly and would be open to trying it again in the future. I love a good dive spot for burgers! However, in JAG's case, I think a little more seasoning in the food and running a tighter ship in terms of cleanliness and service could go a long way.

Located in downtown Irwin, the restaurant sits on a one way road with street parking. With the flat top right in the dining area, the fresh grilled bacon and burger patties perfumes the entire restaurant. We ordered: - The Sneeder - two patties with caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, and onion jam, this was a filling burger!!! I loved that the burger was left open for takeout to ensure that the toppings didn't wilt during transport. An epic bun too!
