How bad was it? With only three cars in front of us in each drive thru lane, it still took 14 minutes to reach the drive thru speaker and place our order. We ordered two double cheeseburgers, two small fries, and two desserts--burgers and fries, their staple, with no special requests. Eleven minutes later, we reached the pickup window and got our desserts, but they tell us to pull around and wait for someone to bring out the rest. Nine minutes later, a girl with an attitude comes out, acting like we've inconvenienced her, and brings our order to us. We tell her one of our fries is missing and, with no apology or even an acknowledgment, she turns and walks at a sloth's pace back inside. We wait another ten minutes before concluding she's not coming back, and park the car to go inside and get our fries. In this restaurant, there were six customers standing in front, waiting for their orders, and I counted eight people working in the kitchen, with no one up front helping customers. There was no sense of order or organization in the way they moved, and none of the employees were acting with any sense of urgency. They were walking to and fro, slowly, looking like asteroids gently passing by one another in space. There was one person at the fry counter moving quickly to put fries into containers, but everyone else behaved as if they were high or on Xanax. I had to raise my voice to get the attention of someone in the back. I explained to them that I have been at this place for nearly 45 minutes already, and that I just needed a small order of fries and I promise I would never bother them again. They walk slowly over to the person preparing fries who hands them our order, then brings them to me and apologizes for the mistake. As they're doing this, the girl who brought out our order over ten minutes earlier comes out of the kitchen, moving sloth-like with another customer's to-go order on a tray. She recognizes me and mentions to the person helping me that "he waiting for fries". Nice, very helpful. And great English, btw. After a total of fifty minutes we are back on the highway, very disappointed by the burnt, dry, stale burgers and the cold, soggy fries that the girl with an attitude brought us earlier. My wife and I assure ourselves that we will never again stop at this place, no matter how hungry we are and no matter how busy the other restaurants around them may be. This place represents rock bottom for the McDonald's franchise and the corporation would do well to hold up this place as an example of what not to do.

Unfortunately, every Tom, Dick and Harry in this country-bumpkin town had the same idea. The Subway is in the same parking lot as a Valero gas station. Both businesses are in one building, but with two separate entrances. The small, shared parking lot was very difficult to navigate with so many people coming and going for gas. You could loop around the building and park on either of the sides. Unfortunately, a pickup was pulled into one of the corner stalls, and its truck bed was blocking the one way loop around the building. I decided to circle back and go in the other way to avoid him and find parking. The Subway store has a long narrow layout. There were probably a dozen people inside. All of the tables against the wall seemed full with people and there was a line along the sandwich counter all the way to the door. Because the store is so small, there was no way for this many people to maintain social distancing. Many of the people in line did not wear masks, others wore them incorrectly. Staff did not say anything to correct this. I decided to wait outside until the line subsided and more people left the establishment. Once inside, there was still a bit of a delay. There were two people hard at work making sandwiches, but in addition to fulfilling the orders of people in line, it looked like they were making orders for those who had ordered online through the Subway app. I was disappointed that the woman working was not wearing her mask correctly. Her nose was clearly hanging out. I really shouldn't have stayed after all of the hassle I had already been through, but my stomach pleaded with me to make my order and go, and so I did.
