This and Wendell August Forge as it was formerly named are the same place. This store is located west of the Grove City outlet malls on a private property and is their headquarters. Wendell August specializes in gift wear for all types of occasions. They offer a variety of plates, serving dishes, cup rests, holiday ornaments, photo books, and jewelry to name a few. You can purchase the item in either aluminum or bronze which is a bit more expensive. Many of their merchandise is themed to a particular city or area but there are other items dedicated to special occasions such as weddings or having a baby. They do offer engraving but it comes with a fee per letter. They also sell display holders for a modest fee. The work is made in their factory on site. Shipping is available. They do offer some of the beautiful ornaments made by artist Linda Barnicott that feature either scenes of Pittsburgh or Kennywood park. I have shopped here on a number of occasions and found that it is a great place to buy something different outside of the ordinary. They carry other merchandise as well such as tea towels with cute sayings on them. The store is usually not very busy and is worth a short drive when visiting Grove City outlet malls. read more

I went to Wendell August for the very first time at their location in the Grove City area in Western Pennsylvania. The store and kinda reminds me if Trader Joes was a high end retail store of sorts. This location is specifically located not to far off from the Grove City outlet mall just past the Hampton suites, Candlewood Suites, Holiday Inn, etc. There is a wide open road going up to the parking lot which is right in front of the store. The store has a lot of cool home decor related products like ornaments, lotions, necklaces, rings, jewelry, bracelets, candies, kitchen materials, posters, artwork, paintings, and just so much more. I really like how they have a lot of faith based items in the form of bracelets, book markers, necklaces, rings, and much more. It was definitely awesome to see and would make it my kind of store to come by and purchase products from. The staff and customer service is great. They also have a couple of really cool showrooms showings items ranging from Pennsylvania themed stuff to sports. The prices for everything is pretty decent and not that bad too. Will be coming back to check out more stuff to see what is new. read more

I had ordered a Baby's first rattle ornament in pink for a friends new born as a Christmas gift. I had placed the order back on Dec. 2nd. When the 19th rolled around I made a call to the customer service center to check on the status of my order. I was assured the gift would arrive before Christmas as it was guaranteed delivery by then. The package was never sent. I called the customer service line today and spoke with a rep who assured me she would call me back and never did. I had called a second time this afternoon and the rep I spoke with asked me if it was an internet order. I replied yes. She said she would have to transfer me. The phone rang multiple times with no answer. At 1:05 this afternoon I received an email indicating that my package was being shipped today. I understand how hectic the holiday season is and some things are out of our control delays, weather ect. But this should have been handle better than it was. This is just unacceptable! read more

The new store and factory is a huge disappointment. Having grown up visiting Wendel August every time we came to visit my grandparents, I was excited to bring my son and hubby here to see it. When the old forge and store burnt down, I knew they rebuilt but I didn't think the charm and rustic, local craftiness would be lost. But oh was it. It's now a cookie cutter, over modern sterile store. More the likes of a high end jewellery store, all originality and charm bleached away. The bird, gone. The train that ran the perimeter of the room, gone. Friendly employees who welcomed everyone like family, gone. I had hope for the self -tour of the factory, and those expectations were quickly crushed. The door was clearly labeled, but once inside, no sort of directions or markers. The first two observation windows were obvious, but beyond that...meh. What made it worse was the employees who just stared at us like we were intruding. Except for the one gentleman inside the die cutting room who smiled and was nice. A huge let down. By the end, I was embarrassed for having talked it up so much and for dragging my poor family there. read more

This is a beautiful showroom. They have gorgeous forged metal items for EVERY occasion. Milestones, keepsakes, holiday, gifts, etc. They have some very pretty pieces that are area specific (Amish scenes, Pittsburgh locations, etc). They also stock other gift items - jewelry, purses, kitchen towels, just to name a few. They provide factory tours as well which are very interesting.
