I did not realize that this place was started by an NHL player. Honestly, I have a tendency to shy away from places that are started by sports heros. First of all, they have enough money and second of all, what do sports people know about restaurant dining? Also when I go out I don't like being surrounded by screens.
However, we already sat down and given menus before we figured it out. It would be rude to leave. So we stayed.
It is comfortable and modern inside, and not in your face with the screens which I appreciated. If you want to watch the game, there is also that.
Our server was kind, attentive, and helpful. It wasn't very busy when we went in.
Menu is fairly typical for a pub - appetizers, steaks, handhelds and some main meals. The Ribeye steak was the special for sunday for 40.00. I don't think I have ever ordered ribeye because that cut is usually more money so I decided to go with that. It came with mashed potatoes but I wanted to home cut fries so I went with that. My husband went with the Wendel burger - 8-ounce patty comes topped with golden onion rings, thick-cut bacon, tomato, 100% real cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles and signature sauce. Our daughter went with the kids penne with tomato sauce.
Food came in a timely manner. Everything was tasty. My steak was cooked correctly. The fries were good, but if I were to go again, I might stick to the mashed potatoes. Hubby liked his burger. The cheese on the penne was a nice touch for kiddo's dish. I appreciate a restaurant that takes time with the kids food, it says something of them as a chef.
I am not sure if I would go here again, because I like to choose independent family restaurants, but this is a good place too. read more
