Pud met us at the stables. We signed our wavers and we agreed on our meeting time of 6:30 the next day. We arrived and our ride couldn't have gone any better. Absolutely breathtaking beautiful views. Tried calling from my friends # who made the reservation but no answer. I told her to let me try from my #. He answered on the second ring. I told him we want our money back and I put a chain and lock on his gate and would remove it when he refunds our money. He came WITH our refund and I removed the lock. I found this dog park on Yelp and we took the 3-ish mile trip. First, we noticed how vast and clean the dog park was. There was so much room to run around, and the place overall looked well-taken care of. Second, the regulars are so nice - both the people and the dogs. One guy, James, frequents the park often with his copper pittie named Penny. Penny was very friendly with Bucky, my Bostie, and soon the two were best buddies and playing. My mom, Bucky, and I stayed until sunset chatting with James, who told us about the park and the regulars. We had a great time here, and I'll be coming back the next time I visit my parents.

Rio Grande Valley State Park! This place is in sort of…read morethese marshes, low lying fields in the RGV outside of Brownsville. We came in for a hike along their shortest trail, which wound through scrub brush, mesquite trees and the overwhelming sound of cicadas. We saw lots of armadillos on our hike, and several strange, menacing looking birds. The park has a nice ranger station with a gift shop where you can rent binoculars and get patches and other gear that you'll need to camp and hike along the park's many trails. Be sure to reserve ahead of time on the website. The park is quiet, other than the insects. When we went, it has hot as heck, and nobody else was on the trails. They do offer a few bird blinds, or places to relax in some shade and observe the birds. There seemed to be a planetarium or telescope or something, but the armadillos were preventing us from investigating this.
