AVOID, AVOID, AVOID…read more As other reviewers have noted, this gym's management does everything it can to fleece you. I actually only intended to sign up for a year, not realizing that there's a notice period for cancellation. MyShape automatically signed me up for another year, which is not at all standard practice. So I was signed onto Year 2. Then when I sent an email asking for a cancellation before they sign me onto Year 3, they never responded. Finally, I ended up leaving Germany. I sent in my Abmeldung with an email asking them to terminate my account. Again, they did not respond for 2 weeks. Then they had the audacity to claim that because I emailed them on February 27th, not February 26th, that they would charge me for another month. This is NOT normal. For my other gym, I simply sent an email with my Abmeldung and I received a prompt reply saying they had taken care of it.

This place sucks. I'm moving away but they are forcing me to keep my contract for another full…read moreyear. This is unfair and annoying. The staff keeps changing, so it's hard to have consistency. Also, they only offer basic yoga. Since people in the classes change there is no real build up. Everyone stays on the basic level.

American Fitness is a huge gym occupying a large part of the top floor of Karstadt in Hermannplatz…read more It's a massive space and holds every possible type of equipment. There are 2 reasonable size studios, one for spinning and the other for aerobics and so on. There is also quite a large free weights area and an outdoor terrace with a decent view of Hermannplatz. Another plus is the huge wellness area, with a large sauna and roof terrace. So, American Fitness has pretty much everything you need in a gym, but the place doesn't have too much atmosphere as it's so big and feels empty most of the time - great if you want to train in complete isolation, but no so great if you like to have a chat now and again between sets. Another minor gripe is that there is a culture of leaving weights lying all over the place. They are not marked very well, so when it gets busy, it's really difficult to find the set you want. Still, it's a really cheap gym - you can get 3 months for EUR120. For what you get, it's a steal.

Absolut keine Empfehlung.
