Not very welcoming. This was part two of our field trip tour for our 6th graders. Mind you, these kids had pretty much walked half the campus since the 1st tour that was supposed to last an hour only lasted 10 maybe 15 minutes tops. To eat up time, the chaperones walked the kids around the campus. Maybe a bad move on our part, but once we reached the Welcome Center to give the kids a break, they were immediately shut down by the receptionist who explained in a heavy and loud voice that they "conduct business" there and they needed to lower their voices. For sixth graders that had been walking around all day, they really weren't that loud. They were tired and hungry, which replaced their need to be loud--just act like kids.
While we waited for our tour guide to show up, the receptionist could have directed us to let the students use the facilities, but I didn't find out that we could use their facilities until I decided to take a break and was bold enough to ask where the restroom was located. She turned her head like someone was performing an exorcism m on her and commented that it was down the hallway (as if I knew, but forgot). Then she mentions that if I needed to take the kids, there was a four student maximum to do so. Since she was so protective of her cave (she did have enough hair on her head to create a mane), I felt it would be best to just use the facilities and let the kids hold it until we reached the cafeteria for lunch.
And this place is called the Welcome Center??!! Big joke! read more
