From day one, I felt abandoned and left to figure things out entirely on my own. The staff and teachers simply do not do their jobs, failing to provide any meaningful assistance or support to students. The expectation here is that you handle everything by yourself, which is incredibly frustrating and not conducive to learning. I've learned next to nothing during my time at Fortis Institute because the teachers do not engage or assist in any meaningful way. I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed I am with this school. I would never recommend Fortis Institute to anyone. Save your time and money and look for a better institution that actually cares about its students' education and success.

Old school" instructor setting students up for failure…read more Doesn't care about what's best for the students, only cares what makes her job easier. Very unfair and inconsiderate when it comes to students. She's been here for years so I assume my complaints won't be acknowledged, I'm sure I am not the first person to complain about her. Fortis need to do better and hire people who care about their students and aren't using their position unethically. She has made me very discouraged, and I am considering dropping out and finding another school. I haven't had any other problems with any other instructors other than her. My whole class complains amongst ourselves but no one wants to complain to the school. But I do not care, I took a loan out and I'm not getting the education I'm paying for. She doesn't follow the lesson plans that are in our modules, so we are unprepared for assignments. I think I'm going to have to drop out and go to another school because this woman is on a power trip.

The teachers never interacted with the students. Heck, I only heard from them at the beginning and end of the class. The class consisted of "read these pages and answers these questions" for a computer science course! This was a hands on course and the learning was where? The financial aid office has no clue what they are doing. Check and double check your loans and grants! Make sure they are not messing yours up! They sure did mine. Worst of all, when you need to get ahold of people in the dean's office, they will not answer you. They either throw your messages away or just don't bother responding to messages and emails. Avoid at all costs.

As a transfer student myself, I whole-heartedly understood the transfer process, which contributed to the success I found in recruiting students at The Lake. OLLU is a small campus, and its size is one of the many things I love! I have studied at other accredited institutions and found that I learned best in an environment where the class size was small. Additionally, I was able to work in small groups, which I really enjoyed during the end of my business degree. I also had the opportunity to take online classes through the main campus. Not all my classes were face-to-face or 8-weeks long, but I enjoyed the length of some of my 8-week classes less than some of the other courses where I had more time to complete my work, reading, and assignments. During all my time as a student, and all the places I was fortunate to study, some of my favorite professors taught at Ollu. All professors at Ollu have experience, are qualified, and care about their students. Most adjunct at other accredited institutions, too. Ollu allowed me the opportunity to continue working, providing for my family, and finishing my degree part-time. Although Ollu has received some feedback that is not great in the past, overall, I find it a wonderful opportunity for students who are interested in going back to school while they work. If you are committed to your completing your degree and are willing to take responsibility for your education like I did, Ollu is great! I used all the services that were available to me in the end. I was patient, and I did not rush the completion of my degree. The financial aid office at Ollu helped me get my financial aid back on track so I could finish, too. I think Ollu Houston deserves between 3 and 4 stars, so I will round up and give them 4 stars. I am very grateful for my degree and have met many students, past and present who are very grateful to Ollu, too. The current director has overcome many obstacles along the way and has been there for at least five years now, even though there is still a slightly higher turnover, which is unfortunate. Many students, myself included, are grateful to her, as well.

The leaders of the graduate department do not assist you towards success. The academic advisors are incompetent and will consistently give you misleading information.    I'm sure that the low cost of tuition will appeal to you, but it's not worth it if you have to constantly deal with unprofessional people.  The MBA program once had potential.  I believe that it's really important that the university reevaluates it's staff and hires people who truly have a passion to assist scholars on their path to success. I am truly in disbelief that there are coordinators and advisors that are easily confused and present themselves to be frustrated. Several people need to be retrained on phone etiquette and how to appropriately respond to emails. I believe that it's not appropriate to portray poor mannerisms, gestures, and behaviors.   I graduated from this university as an electrical engineer and recruited thousands of students to attend PVAMU. I am truly disappointed and in disbelief that the business program does not have professional people helping you towards your future success. I believe that this university should no longer operate as a "university." I do believe that the Northwest campus would be a good college instead of a university.

To whom it may concern:…read more February 23, 2015 I am a student at Everest Houston Greenspoint enrolled in the Information Technology Program. I first met with the admissions manager on or about the 1-20-15 and again on 1-27-15 when I decided to enroll. I choose Everest because I was led to believe it was well run, with an easy to understand but challenging IT program taught by a highly educated professor with a reputation for being a good instructor. I was led to believe that I would be enrolling in a program that would get me ready to enter the workforce with the right knowledge and certifications that employers are looking for. I began a day late on the 28th of February 2015. I did not receive orientation. I did received a syllabus, reading material, a backpack, IT tool kit and shirts. I also did not receive my computer until February 2nd or my external hard drive (WD My Passport) until the 5th. Since the beginning of school to the present date 2-23-15 many red flags have gone up. 1)There was only one instructor for two classes happening simultaneously; which forced both classes to share part of our 4 hrs 2)The class was not geared towards beginners, as my admissions manager had said. She said "The instructor shows you everything from how to turn on the computer all the way up" My first and only class was over Linux and Mac (two separate operating systems) 3)The internet speed is inadequate to conduct classes that rely on computers to produce work and learn. I have 11 speed tests done over 6 days at various times to prove this. 4)There were no lectures or step by step demonstration done by the instructor; with exception of 2 YouTube videos. 5)The syllabus was not followed. There was a test given before it appeared on the syllabus and out of the 4 weeks I attended we only got through week 1 of the syllabus. 6)The work that was done was not able to be turned in. The instructor would not accept it until he finished his portal; which wasn't ready until 2-16-15 and to date has not been graded. This allows no way for students know if what we had completed and studied to be correct or not. 7)February 20th there was nothing for students who were done with their work to do since there were no Week 2 handouts or labs given to us but there was a due date for the work of February 23rd at 11:59pm. (We did not receive them that day or over the weekend) 8)February 23rd I arrived at school to find out from 3 of my classmates that the Professor would not be coming back to class. He had called or texted those students to deliver the news. We sat without an instructor the entire day. As of today, February 24th, I have withdrawn from this school. I have asked to not be billed beyond materials used and 10 days of instruction time. The Director of Education and the Finance Department informed me that only the Campus President could make adjustments to the billing and he declined to meet with me. This situation, as everything thus far, has been handled poorly. It is my experience that the statements made by admissions are misleading and all together incorrect. The Instructors are spread too thin and lack the organization necessary to effectively lead a classroom. The school is not set up to properly to run high speed internet to support an Information Technology program and the campus President shifts blame on what has transpired to the students instead of taking responsibility and agreeing to meet with students who have been so profoundly affected. I only hope that this and the other reviews I have posted save future students of being robbed of their time and money by an institute that is not qualified to run an IT program.
