If I could give less than a 1 star I would. Most UNPROFESSIONAL doctor I have ever met. My husband visited this establishment today, February 7, 2024, for a second opinion and review of his MRI to determine which surgery to proceed with. Dr. Weiss told both my husband and myself, and I quote "I don't give a shit" which surgery you choose, "it does not matter to me" both will work. Are you fucking kidding me?!!! "YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT". How about this Dr. Weiss, I will not let you near my husband to perform surgery since "YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT". I sustained an injury to my pinky finger several years ago. At the time, I visited a local surgeon who verified that no bones were broken but that a ligament tear was causing the "swan neck" deformation in the finger. Although surgery was an option, this doctor was clearly leaning against it, telling me that the recovery was a long process, and the surgery was quite technical (which I interpreted as difficult). He instead recommended physical therapy (PT). Heeding the advice, I went to PT for several months, with no improvement. Years later, a friend of mine was raving about the care he received from Weiss Orthopedics for his broken finger and recommended that I visit Dr. Weiss for my issue. I am so glad he did. Dr. Weiss evaluated my finger, took a few x-rays that same day, and presented me options. While he made clear to me that surgery would result in several months of rehabilitation and PT, he was confident that he could improve my situation (never promising he could make it like new, but rather a good chance of making it a heck of a lot better than it was). He explained in great detail all that would be done, and left me feeling very confident that he could perform the job. It has now been about 4-5 months since Dr. Weiss performed the procedure, and my finger is nearly fully healed. See pics. Dr. Weiss is as skilled, efficient, and no nonsense as any medical professional I have ever met. I have been going to PT arranged/referred by Dr. Weiss' office, and that has been absolutely essential in driving my recovery as well. Dr. Weiss is not only skilled and professional to a fault, I truly believe his office and staff are exceptional. The man should teach a master class on how to operate a doctor's office. Every appointment I made was taken ON TIME, and on days when I arrived early, they usually got me in EARLY. This is quite notable considering there were always patients at the office when I visited, these guys are busy! The surgery center is located at the Novato office location, so that could not have been easier. Scheduling and the insurance process was super smooth. Also, I have to mention that EVERYONE I met at the office was incredibly kind and caring - shout out to PA Jennifer who was also so knowledgeable and took most of my post-op meetings. She's a gem, as is everyone there. I can say that while I hope I never have a need to go to an orthopedic surgeon again, I am comforted by the fact that Weiss Orthopedics is here in Marin. Bothered with a pesky trigger finger for 3 months. PMD did X-rays and referred me to a hand therapist (occupational therapist) who suggested paraffin baths and exercises which also did little. Saw Dr Weiss thinking I'd get a steroid injection. He had remembered me from repairing my torn shoulder ages ago and he said "I'm going to fix it right now!" A little numbing medication and then using a needle her released the tendon and I was out of the office minutes later. Within a day I had full use of the finger and now a month later I can scarcely remember ever having any problem at all. Cannot recommend enough!! read more

Last month I reviewed Dr.Weiss and Weiss Orthopedics. I was his patient in 2014 and my experience was extremely negative and life changing. I thought Yelp was a proper outlet to share information that could potentially help someone else to make important decisions regarding their health. I was quickly informed otherwise when a 20+ page certified letter arrived from Dr.Weiss threatening me with legal action if the review remained posted. Being that I am a 37 y/o, unemployed woman and he is a wealthy powerful doctor with attorneys I feel no choice but to yield to his demand. He pointed out the impact of legal fees would be something undesirable which I agree. If I had the money to fight him in court it would be much better applied towards proper  treatment of my injuries. read more

This update concerns the treatment I had for my shoulder injury/condition and my carpal tunnel syndrome. I decided not to have the open hand surgery at this time. Instead, I had a guided cortisone injection on the worse hand, with excellent results. I liked that Dr. Weiss explained thoroughly that this is not a permanent solution, and also that he would not recommend doing repeated injections. However, it did provide great relief for about 2 months. I have since had some ergonomic adjustments to my work station and some chiropractic adjustments to my neck, along with doing stretching and strengthening exercises. The point is that Dr. Weiss made a diagnosis, with full explanation of the array of options he could provide. I selected the least invasive, and obtained good, if limited, results. SHOULDER: Dr. Weiss performed an arthroscopic debridement. The surgery was easy and went perfectly. The surgery center is new, modern and clean. The anesthesiologist was fantastic! He promised I would have no nausea from the general, and he was right. Dr. Weiss is a skilled surgeon who is equally gifted at consultation. He was candid with me as to my poor long term prognosis (arthritis in the shoulder) but not negative. The recovery was easy---only on pain pills for 2 days. ICE MACHINE!! They should have told me to get one! Fortunately, I borrowed one so that saved the day. At post-op, I had recovered approximately 95% range of motion, with no physical therapy. If the carpal tunnel gets worse, I would ask Dr. Weiss to perform the open surgery, at least on one of the hands. read more

I found Dr.Weiss in 1998 after Kaiser couldn't fix a work incurred shoulder tear. Dr. Weiss is a well versed orthopedic surgeon in the new and up and coming treatments. His surgery abilities are far and above any other Doctor that I have ever used. Dr Weiss was able to reattach two tendons that were detached from the bone and I have full mobility in the shoulder. I also used Dr. Weiss for a meniscus tear in my knee where he implanted tissue that he removed and grew and put it back into my knee. You can't find a better surgeon or staff. Best doctor ever I've been with him 5 years due to a workermans comp case. Never have I ever met a doctor who cares so much about their patients. He's done surgery twice on my left elbow and once on my wrist for carpal tunnel and I have had no symptoms since. All staff is nice and caring. Clean and neat place their new office is amazing. I am so grateful to have been referred to Dr. Weiss! In January 2015 I was in a motorcycle accident and taken to the trauma center at Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa. I was there for 2 weeks due to major internal injuries and I broke my right hand. 2 different doctors took care of me, the internal injuries by Dr. Brian Schmidt (awesome !), my hand was (supposed) to be repaired by Dr. Roger Klein, the orthopedist on call. I had a cast on for 6 weeks, then physical therapy for another 6 weeks. When I was done my hand looked deformed, hurt like hell and I could not even do simple tasks like brushing my teeth !! My physical therapist referred me to Dr. Weiss. I hit the jackpot ! Dr. Weiss and I looked at my hand on a realtime instrument! He explained that because my thumb bone was not put together properly that a lot of arthritis had accumulated. I also had torn ligaments that were not repaired ( no wonder I couldn't perform simple tasks). I figured since I was going under the knife that I would get a couple of other issues taken care of at the same time. When I was out of surgery Dr. Weiss explained that there was more damage that had to be repaired and that he has repaired almost everything he could to one hand! He also said that my recovery would take a long time. My recovery only took a week over 4 months! The minute my cast was taken off my hand felt better than before my surgery. My mom had been in pain for 3 months with a "trigger finger" type injury that an "expert" was going to operate on in Napa. Luckily, for my mom she got a second opinion from Dr. Weiss and we are all glad she did. He was professional, concerned and efficient! Within an hour of her in office procedure she felt relief and the next day her hand felt even better! Dr. Weiss explained a variety of things to my mom and her only regret is not finding him sooner. I drove 35 minutes to see Dr. Weiss after high recommendations by my hand specialist (O.T). I have met with Dr. Weiss on two occasions, due to pain and immobility of my thumb (Trigger thumb). He took x rays and did a manual exam. He explained the condition very well and told me of my options. I initially opted to have a shot of cortizone, which helped for a few months. I then returned and had a trigger release procedure done. Dr. Weiss spent a good amount of time explaining what he was going to do and answering questions. Some people might be offended by his speaking style but I knew ahead of time that he speaks very quickly and is rather no-nonsense in his style. Went to see Dr.Weiss on a recommendation of a Dr at Sonoma Valley Hospital .. The Dr spent 5 min with me tops and I had a broken foot .. He was arrogant and very rude with his comments .. He did not even exam my foot just made some very rude comments to me about shoes and then told me to take Advil ! I will be seeing my primary again after he basically spent less than 5 min in the room with an assistant not in uniform and did not even introduce the person clearly not medical staff .. If your looking for a true medical dr I would not recommend this office .. His rooms were full and he was rushing me to get to the next room . Not a good experience at all ! I worked in the medical industry in the past and did Preceptorships at top Hospitals in the country and this was clearly someone looking to just get paid .. Dr Weiss's is kind of like a brilliant Chef - who isn't really the best at speaking to his customer's - but will wow them with his expertise. This guy is seriously the best at what he does. In town everyone knows him as the "shoulder guy". My husband had two torn rotator cuffs. One so bad that most would have thought it impossible to operate on. Dr Weiss did just that and to perfection. Sure afterwards he was brief with his "all is well" comments - but he also instilled confidence in his doctoring prowess, he was professional, and concise. My husband is also a high risk patient who has a blood clot. Dr Weiss assured us prior to the surgery on the first shoulder that all would be fine, along with conferring with our Primary care Doctor prior the surgery. I understand he speaks all over the U.S. and is highly sort after. So much so that people come to Sonoma to be treated by him. So, in saying, go for expertise and the understanding this guy knows his stuff and way more than others out there - don't go if you're looking for a long chat - he's busy! read more

I would never recommend Dr. Weiss to my worst enemy. As a matter of fact, I always tell people to never see him . He had done a Rotator cuff surgery on my shoulder 4 years ago and because of his old school philosophy , he told me to not do physical therapy for one month post surgery which is a mistake because all moving joints need to stay in motion and physical therapy also helps reduce inflammation. Due to not having physical therapy for a month , I ended up having a severe frozen shoulder , which then took another year of physical therapy to obtain full range of motion. It ended up disabling me from my job. He also has a very poor bed side manner and never gives you enough time to ask questions and I always had to wait up to one hour to get into my appt. He was the first poor experience I have ever had with a Doctor. read more

I am very unhappy with Noah D. Weiss MD, he does not deserve what I am paying. He did not do his job, he spent less than 2 minutes with me. He came into the room, looked at my thumb, and said he wanted an X-ray. I told him I had an X-ray at the emergency room on Saturday. He said he wanted to see if my thumb had moved. A young woman came into the room, and took me to get the X-ray. She brought me back to the room, and told me that the Dr. wanted to see me in 3 weeks. I never received any information as to what kind of fracture it was, or anything. I never saw the Dr. again, he didn't have the courtesy to come back in. The girl didn't know how to wrap my finger because she was an X-ray technician, and not a nurse. I had to show her how to wrap it myself. Luckily I was on vacation and was able to go back to my primary Dr. and not have to deal with Dr. Weiss again. read more

I met with Dr.Weiss because I have a completely severed rotator cuff tendon. First of all I am in a lot of pain and Dr. Weiss refused to give me any pain medication. I am in a great deal of pain especially when i try and sleep. The medical clinic that treated me initially gave me muscle relaxers and pain medication which I took at night to help sleep. Dr. Weiss refused to give me any medication. He told me to take tylonol. After reading other reviews here i found out that this seems to be his policy. He is also extremely rushed and has absolutely no bedside manner. The scheduling staff is terrible. I was told i'd get a call to schedule surgery in about five days. After hearing nothing for two weeks I called and was told that my medication for after surgery had not yet been approved so my surgery could not yet be scheduled. After getting upset with the scheduler Dr. Weiss decided he would not do my surgery. I looked into finding a different Doctor several weeks ago after meeting Him but he is the only approved orthopedic in Marin county on my company's comp insurance list. I'm sure i'm better off. Hopefullly I will find a doctor who cares. read more

This doctor is dishonest and irresponsible. He lies about his qualifications and his experience. He recommends unnecessary surgery to almost all patients who see him, and he has many surgical complications that go unaddressed, because he can't be bothered after he has already generated his surgical bills. I would strongly recommend that potential patients obtain good second opinions from physicians that are not associated with him, if they are considering allowing him to operate. He is a very effective salesman and is able to fool many innocent people who are easily conned by his phony tests and professional-sounding jargon. read more

I had been a past patient of Dr. Weiss several years ago for a simple hand surgery. The surgery went well, but I remember having to wait in the waiting room for at least 30 minutes, or longer, each time. And my actual time with the Doctor felt rushed. For the past ten months, I have had shoulder pain radiating down my arm. Chiropractic did nothing, and then my regular doctor suggested physical therapy, which also did nothing. I was suspecting that I might need surgery, and so I did my own research into doctors. Dr. Weiss's reviews seemed to be at opposite ends of the spectrum. He either 'walked on water', or patients would never go back to him. My regular MD referred me to Dr. Weiss, and an appointment was made. I decided to keep an open mind, and told myself that I would trust my own instincts upon my initial appointment. I showed up early for my 3:30 pm appointment, filled out at least five pages of information, and waited. I watched patients come an go, and two of the patients that came in, when approaching the check-in desk, said, "Hi I am _____, for my 3:40/3:50 appointment with Dr. Weiss." They were taken back to the exam room before me. After waiting for 50 minutes, I told the receptionist that I was going to be late for my physical therapy appointment on the other side of town. She said, "Oh yeah, we got backed up." She didn't seem to be too empathetic. After checking with the staff, she told me that she could do nothing for me that day, and I would have to reschedule for eight days later. I told her that my job takes me out of the Country, and I would not be here for that opening. I would have to wait possibly until a month later. Well, my instincts kicked in, and I felt that they really didn't care about having their patients wait and wait and wait. I understand when there is an emergency that takes precedence, but this was not the case. If this is the way they take care of their patients (and this appears to be the norm from what I remember), then I will not be rescheduling. Oh....and they charge you $75 for a cancellation! I guess our time is of no value to them. I took the trouble of making sure that I was there early enough for my appointment, as were all the other people waiting, but that seems to be of little concern. Footnote: the next day, I went to Dr. Michael Brown, and had a very positive experience. Not only did they mail you all of the paperwork to your home several days before your appointment, within 25 minutes of me walking into their office, I had met the staff and had two x-rays completed. The doctor talked to me (I mean, really talked AND listened) for at least 10-15 minutes. He offered me several options of treatment, and we decided upon a shot of cortisone and delaying an expensive MRI. He did it right then, and so far, it has proved to be giving me welcome relief. What a positive experience after what I had endured the previous day at Dr. Weiss's office. read more
