They have a great selection and everything and their meat counter is legendary, but When comparing grocery stores it eventually comes down to customer service. Groceries are groceries and most stores have a wide selection, as well as occasionally not having that one thing you need. I really like that Karns supports the local farmers. But this example is really all about how they take care of their customers, which is really what counts when it comes to a business review. I ran to Karns quickly to pick up a couple things before the storm that I knew was coming arrived. I was only in the store for a few minutes but came back out and the rain was starting. I noticed immediately that there were some people gathered around a convertible that had its top down. It was parked close to my car so when I got closer I realized that the car's battery was dead, and the driver could not put the top back up. The next thing I noticed is that Kristen, a Karns employee, was standing there holding an umbrella for a lady who is apparently the wife of the driver. There was also another man there trying to help. Noone had jumper cables so I ran home to get mine. I only live 1/4 away, so it was easy. I Got back got into position and we started trying to jump the car. No luck. To make things worse, the storm was hitting full force just about the time we were hooking up the batteries. It was no use... His battery was pretty well dead. There is nothing to do but wait for AAA. Just as I was getting ready to leave after he assured me that he would be okay, Kristen came walking out from the store carrying a tarp that was big enough to cover the whole car! She sort of apologized because it took her so long to find one that was big enough. I'm pointing this out now because this is not an unusual situation. I have seen Karns employees helping people many times in ways that go well beyond simply stocking shelves or ringing up groceries. This is what makes Karns a great store!

They beat all the chains in Chambersburg with service: drive-through script service, 15 minute refills, discounts for patients without health insurance, local brands, health food of all sorts, special orders for anyone, and gifts without being too much or too cheesy. In addition to the above services, everyone I've ever encountered here is honestly happy to be at work. They love their jobs, their coworkers, and their customers. Upon request, any prescription will be explained and dosing instructions will be repeated over and over until the patient (ie, me) is satisfied with their understanding. They also stock a great selection of Tom's of Maine products, a difficult find in Chambersburg! While you're waiting for your refill, drink a pint of chocolate milk from Harrisburg Dairy and chat with one of the ubiquitous old ladies waiting for their refills, too.

My wife needed a new pharmacy after changing doctors for convenience. She made certain to have all…read morethe information readily available prior to having the prescription electronically sent, as the medication is quite a delicate one. From the beginning, she felt they were very prejudicial about it, even saying "the insurance needed preauthorization" for a medication she had been taking for over a dozen years. When she called to ask what the issue was, they ran it again and it was just fine. Today, they called to say they couldn't fill the medication because the prescriber wasn't in the immediate area and they could only fill those from the immediate area. Mind you, they've filled it several times but they just "couldn't believe it hadn't been flagged before". It's from less than 3 hours away and insurance is perfectly fine-filled perfectly on time. Then it was a "Good luck finding another pharmacy!" This has been a terrible experience for my wife, who had been so happy to have the ease of a hometown pharmacy. I would suggest you avoid this pharmacy if you aren't a local or have a medication they may not agree with (Even if they don't know why you take it or your health history). It often concerns me that pharmacists have the power to make medical decisions that should be between a patient and their physician. I understand abuse of medications happens, but utilizing common sense happens, as well.

Why is Martin's selling products they know may be invalid and why is Martin's making the customer absorb the loss when Martin's carries this product item in their stores?!
