Husband and I stopped in here yesterday on our anniversary roaming around day. Heather, the owner,…read moreis just as nice and helpful as can be, and the shop is a delight to browse in. I loved the ocean decor (and you can see the river and boat harbor just outside the back door). Heather loves to support Indie dyers, and the shop reflects that love. She also carries commercial yarn. There's a roving room as well, with luscious braids of fiber. There are also previously owned spinning wheels looking for homes...at reasonable prices. I wish I could've stayed longer; Husband was relaxing at the bookstore next door (an awesome place, too), and it gave me more time to shop, but we wanted to go driving on the beach, and didn't want to run out of daylight. There's a knitting area with comfy chairs, magazines and patterns for sale, and the shop is light and bright. Heather was very helpful and friendly; I appreciated that she showed me around and then left me to browse on my own without hovering. Purly Shell Fiber Arts (I LOVE that name!) is wheelchair accessible, too. It's a sweet yarn shop and worth stopping in if you're in the area. Or, like us, making a day of it and heading out that way.

Amazing shop! They have more handspun and indie dyed yarns than I think anywhere I've ever been…read more They also raise their own angora and spun it! I'm just passing through but I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often.

I continue to be much more impressed with this yarn store than the other yarn stores in town…read more Michelle, the owner, is infinitely patient and helpful, and very knowledgeable! I have some serious disabilities and she has always been very kind and gracious with me, answering questions over Facebook messenger since it is hard for me to come in, and even remembering our conversations when I come in and showing me directly to the yarn I need so I can minimize my time in the store. I love that they do knitting for charity, like knitted knockers, and classes for everyone from beginners to kids. They just keep expanding their yarn selection and have a great variety of yarn. They have really beautiful, high quality yarns that make knitting such a pleasure. They also have more moderately priced yarns, but nothing cheap (as in quality as well as price). They even carry fiber for spinning, as well as some notions like buttons. There are almost always people sitting on the couches, chatting and knitting. Very friendly, welcoming store that is a pleasure to shop at! The only thing to watch out for is they do carry some body products that are scented with artificial fragrances. I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivities so I'm very sensitive, but my hubby said the scent is definitely noticeable in the store. I air out the yarn for a week in the laundry room and I can use it. Other people probably wouldn't notice after a day or two. Definitely not nearly as bad as JoAnn's or Michael's but something to be aware of. Edit: They don't have yarns dyed with GOTS certified dyes, or organic yarns except one cotton I think, which is strange to me because Olympia is a very environmentally conscious place.

Lovely place to sit and spin and buy some indi dyed fiber and yarn. There is both a…read moreknitting/crochet and a spinning group.
