I've been working out at the Weight Room for about 6 months now. I really like it, it's a comfortable place to work out and I rarely have to wait on any equipment, and if I do, people usually let you work in. The atmosphere is nice and everyone there is very friendly, especially the trainers. One thing I'm really impressed with is the fact you can ask any trainer how to use the equipment, or help you move weight and they will drop what they are doing to help you. Everyone wants everyone to succeed at this gym. This also isn't a gym where guys gawk at you and take selfies in the mirror with their flip phones, people are actually working out. I deducted a star since not all the features on the cardio equipment work, some of it is broken and doesn't ever seem to be fixed. And the music in the gym is lacking, everyone wears headphones because it's that terrible. Sometimes they have specials where guests can go for $1/day, definitely check it out if you get a chance!

Old school iron at the Weight Room

What a great gym to drop into during my visit to Oklahoma City! The Weight Room is an iron addicts paradise that has an old school vibe, machines that have stood the test of time, and friendly staff that let me drop in for a workout without having to fill out any paperwork at all. Rows and rows of Dumbbells, plenty of free weight barbells, and a great variety of machines that come from many brands that focus on function over brand loyalty of visual appeal. Everyone was lifting heavy and giving their all in the gym. To me this meant less people staring at each other, more motivation and absolutely no intimidation just because I wasn't a regular. All the members were friendly and shared a bond around training. The good always comes with the bad. The first treadmill I hopped on was out of service, but I made someone aware and they were receptive to it. The shower needs some love too but the locker room was clean and that's really my only criticism! I look forward to coming back to the weight room on my next trip to OKC.

Shady billing practices, dirty facility, ran down equipment, rude staff, way over priced. Much better off going to any other gym.

I recently came to the realization that I'm not a college student who gets to keep eating like crap…read more(or like a Yelper) and not have it affect things like my waist, or how my clothes fit. It took a while for me to come to terms with it. Either I have to start eating healthily, or I have to exercise. Ideally both. And since I like food too much to survive on stupid things like salads, it looks like physical exercise is the only alternative. So here's me trying. Or at least pretending to try. Anyway, "INTEGRIS PACER Fitness Center" is no longer a thing. It is now known as the "YMCA Healthy Living Center - INTEGRIS." A mouthful, yes. So call it HLC instead. Because of its cardiology-rehab focus, HLC tends to have greater numbers of elderly people than the average gym. This can be a boon for some: (1) There are few if any meat-heads grunting and throwing weights. (2) Classes when available tend to have plenty of room so you can just slide in even if you show up late (the classes are upstairs). (3) And old people tend to be much friendlier than us stuck-up young folk. (4) I also like that it's a pretty quiet gym. There's no pool, so that's certainly lacking compared to other locations. But there is a racquetball court. If you're expecting Gold's Gym, you will be disappointed. If you need to be surrounded by people going on about "all kinnnnndsss of gains" (and/or gym bunnies who don't actually work out) to feel like it's worth your time, this may not be the gym for you. Even if the equipment isn't the latest, super-techie, new hotness, they're all well-maintained and clean, and do everything you need them to do. Also, it's like... 14 laps around the track to equal one mile or something. Which is largely useless, because I always lose count at about the 7th or 8th time around. The rehab-focus is expected to continue even with the changes, so I don't expect to see too many changes in the overall feel of the gym, but we'll have to wait and see to be sure. Also... because of the greater than usual number of older folk, I have seen some very confident older men confidently strutting about in their confidently confident birthday suits. I have seen things... Wrinkled things... I hope I'm that bold when I'm older... P. S. There's this trainer named Kelly. I'm not sure if she trains at any of the other Y's or if she's only at HLC, but Mother of Pearl, she is good. Her muscle conditioning classes have been amazing. That DOMS tho... Consistently taking her (or other trainers') classes should allow you to continue being the food-obsessed Yelper that you are.

Ohhhh YMCA. My…read moreprevious membership at another gym ended, and I didn't really love it. I figured I'd start running outside and save money, but I wasn't quite as motivated to do that as I thought. I searched for gyms near me and the obvious answer (Golds, Planet Fitness) were a hard pass. I'm too old and too married for the nightclub that is Golds gym. And I loathe PF so much, I've contemplated picketing outside. Enter the Y. I don't think I'd joined before cause I was young and cheap and looking for promos that waive the joining fee and obviously matching all my workout gear and wanting to be cute). But now, bring it on. This specific location is mainly a cardio rehab center for Integris. Read: senior citizens, it's awesome. Literally no one cares what you look like or what you're doing. Most people are over the age of 50. It's so cute to watch them come in and chat and walk the track. There are also a TON of classes, just like a regular Y. The spin class is tough, and I've loved it. They're also at alllll times of day, starting at 5:40am, perfect for the commuter like me. The rest of the equipment is minimal, but just enough. There's free weights, machines, ad area and a small turf track. Bikes, ellipticals, treadmills and even a Jacobs Ladder. The front desk is nice. And there are complimentary towels. I knocked a star for equipment cleanliness. ::sigh:: I actually mentioned it to the front desk today and now I probably am going to be blackballed but it's pretty gross. They have spray so you can wipe down your machine after you use it, but it looks like that's as far as the cleaning goes. At least on the machines I've used (cardio). The guy said the staff cleans them regularly so I'm sure he thinks I'm a huge biotch (I tried to approach it nicely!) but I use the same elliptical every time. And every time there are sweat stains along the bottom, and he same stuck on brown stuff. I used my towels to wipe the back and black grime came off. It's visible to the naked eye and it really grosses me out. Not enough to quit, but I really hope they'll clean a little better!

There are at least two unhoused people who use this gym for their toilet and shower needs, so often (especially early mornings) you'll come in and two of the three bathrooms will be occupied for quite some time. It's really not fair to the rest of us who are actually there to work out. Neither of the guys is overly threatening, but it is unsettling to have people come in in street clothes, usually carrying multiple bags, just wandering around or sitting in the lobby and then leaving without even exercising. Especially considering there are no lockers--only cubbies. One of the unhoused people drives a pickup full of garbage (sometimes with a travel trailer attached--which appears to be what he lives in), and will bring bags of the garbage in and out with him for no reason. He behaves extremely bizarrely, strikes up uncomfortable conversations with people who are just there to work out, walks around making strange martial arts like moves, and sometimes just hovers at the doors waiting to chat people up as they come in. I feel bad for the guy. I really do. But his behavior is unsettling, and he comes in and out multiple times per day. It makes people feel unsafe, and the owner has been notified multiple times with nothing done about it. I get that technically the guy is a paying member with a fob, but he can't be allowed to just come in and out, behaving bizarrely, and bothering people.

Its a great deal for younger members to hang out there with boom boxes and lay in the floor in the Ab-room or what ever its called. This gym is too little for loud music and when you ask politely to turn it down they wont do it. I cancelled my membership and went to Golds. It's cheaper, fully staffed, sauna, tons of equipment and no confrontations.

Along with the plentiful free weights, they have several machines with easy instructions on how to use them. They also have several machines much like the elliptical (but better) and treadmills which have TVs built in. Like to have an instructed class, but don't want to keep up with the times? That's okay! They have a room set up with a projector and TONS of instructed videos that range from stretching to hardcore aerobics that you can start at any time you like (as long as no one got there before you). They have all the materials you would need (mats, stretch bands, etc) in the room as well for you to use. It does take a minute or two for it to start, but it's a wonderful addition to your workout routine. I like to use it to make sure I stretch well. Girls, I know several of you have problems with men who bring boomboxes and the ridiculous, uncalled for grunting. Well, that hasn't been the issue here! Headphones are required if you want to listen to your own music rather than the alternative/pop/hits that they play softly over the speakers. Everyone that has been there at the same time as me has been courteous of others. I first came to this gym when I received an invite from a friend for their women's self defense class (very informative!). The owner, Isaac, showed me around and I told the bf we should check it out. It was looong over due that we finally joined a gym. Because it is a 24 hour gym, I don't feel like I need to keep track of when they are open. I can go any time I please! The staff is very friendly, and I don't feel like my every move is being watched and scrutinized. Additionally, they have a honor system for drinks and protein bars, showers, and tanning rooms (shame on you for doing that to your skin). Signing up was super easy. The first month is just under $9. After that, it's under $30/person depending on how many you have on your plan. Everyone is required to have the card that unlocks the doors which is a $20 fee that only needs to be paid once (unless you lose yours). With your month-to-month plan, you get a few extras tacked on to help you get fit. And there isn't really a contract! You do have to give a 30 day notice if you want to stop it; but, hey, you 'll probably never want to leave this gym.
