My wife and I were shopping in Mannheim, and as we were hungry we wanted to eat something warm, but neither did we want to grease and dirty our fingers, nor waste time and money and dine in a proper restaurant. This is where the Vefa (Wefa?) restaurant came in handy: It's a Turkish fast food restaurant with lively, young waitstaff. It comes with about 10 tables, more like a bistro than a simple kebab shop or a full-fledged restaurant.
Once inside, I immediately noticed the electronic display board, which spread across four screens shows the specialities listed in the middle part, and displays very professionally shot pictures of the dishes on the left and right side, alternating in 5-second intervals with each iteration highlighting the matching dish in the middle part. So, basically, one is able to view the dishes before ordering. If this isn't mouth-watering, then what?!
The service was prompt and friendly. The delivery (lamb skewer and mixed grill platter) was also fast, since on the one hand a few skewers are always readily grilled, but still fresh, hot and crispy, and on the other hand the side dishes like salad and rice or fries are quickly put together. Except for one piece of lamb, which was a bit tough to chew, the food was very tasty. We found the price and quantity to be the right mix. My glass of Ayran (refreshing cold beverage based on yogurt and water) in my opinion fit perfectly with my platter.
For me / us the Wefa for sure became a place to go back to. Conveniently located, low in price, a fast food restaurant where you can sit and relax a bit from shopping. read more
