Monday the sod looked like crap and weed. By Tuesday nice fresh batches of sod were arriving. I think the sod I received was certainly not what was picked out. By delivery time Thursday it looked like dry weeds and mixed crap. Sod was dry, a mixture of multiple types of grass and the cheapest street side Bahia. Grass pallets completely fell apart at the touch with lots of big tree roots. I called Miller's to state I received bad grass. Plus I had several experts look at the grass who said it was "not Argentine Bahia" but wild grass. Millers would not honor my request or do anything about the grass. One lady simply laughed while I was complaining to the other salespersons. Grass is too costly to be left hanging. Being a repeat client I was a Very upset and dissatisfied repeat client. Watch what you buy. Feels like a bait and switch experience.

I've driven by this place so many times. Finally, I parked my car on the street and walked through…read morethe gates. I had no idea where I was going, I just kept walking. Then I saw the small building, surrounded by piles and bags of mulch. I walked to the door and opened it. Felt like I was trespassing! Inside was a small office with two employees. There are samples of the mulch types and color. They seemed shocked that I just walked in! No greeting or anything. So I was like hello, I have some questions about the mulch- do you deliver? And the guy said yes. So I inquired about their availability/schedule and they said right before thanksgiving gets busy. So I said what about tomorrow? They said tomorrow is good, two deliveries in the morning and then I can have mine! Perfect. My next question was about how much I'd need. The guy was quick to say he doesn't know because he has never seen my property. So I was a bit stuck. He said the minimum was 3 cubic feet of mulch. I went for double that. Regarding payment, he told me to pay by check when they dropped off. I wouldn't be there so I promised to leave a check in an obvious place for them. I asked for the mulch to be dropped off on my driveway, on my tarp. He agreed. He gave me the price- $215.07. This was including the $45 delivery fee. The delivery was on time and pretty much on the tarp. They found the check and left a receipt in its place. At first I thought I had too much, but as I spread it over the next two days, I began to wonder if I had enough! I still have some left and I am not quite finished with my project. But I'd say it looks really nice and the mulch is quality. Only found a few pieces of random plastic pieces like a Gatorade lid, mixed in. The price, delivery and convenience of this place is unparalleled. Sure, my experience was a little awkward and weird but hey, they sell mulch, not cars. I'd recommend them. They also sell by the bag and by the palette. And if you've got a truck, you can save on the delivery fee by getting it right there. They have a second location in Oviedo. I have purchased many, many plants, veggies, herbs, annuals, shrubs and several trees from Tropic Decor over the years. Their market selection is seasonal to our growing climate, offering healthy and popular plants, annuals, herbs, veggies and shrubs from week to week. If you are looking for something in particular, just ask. When I was searching, I was directed to the office number who advised if the plants I wanted would be available at the next market. Happily, they were. When we purchased 2 large magnolias, their staff delivered and installed the large and cumbersome trees for a very reasonable fee. The work was done quickly and the trees looks great years later. Whenever I purchase something I'd like a few tips on, most recently the Red Robin tomatoes, I seek out the advise of one of the 2 older gentleman. They always have a smile and some great growing advice from their years of farming and growing in the Central FL climate. In this case, I'll happily keep those Red Robins in a pot and very well watered. At the market they take cash, or a check for large (tree) purchases.
