It turns out I only have a $50 deductible and I can get my windowshield replaced (I forgot I had that coverage and was just watching the crack grow ). Let me tell you a story... A few years ago I arrived in Abilene from The Bronx NYC, with an…read moreobjective of finding a place to live and then some transportation. After all Abilene's not "The City". My past life and means of getting around changed, I could take the 6 train, stand on the corner hail a cab over to the Westside, or gosh darn ride the bus cross town... I needed a truck, after all this in Texas! After making a few calls and waiting on a Abilene Cab to pick me up at the hotel, take me to the apartment that was to be my living quarters for the next chapter of my life. Now with a place to live I inquired about a auto dealer and proceeded to walk to Locate Chevrolet Dealer. Along the way was Dean Baird Insurance, I stopped in told the Agent my plans took their business card, jumped the dividers of the highway put down a down payment on a new truck. I've been using Dean Beard Insurance every since for my auto's, motorcycles, and homes that I buy. Fair competitive pricing and local ties to the community.

They have NO VOICEMAIL and only operate during normal business hours (but you have to guess when their lunch breaks are and what "business hours" are for them... 7-4? 9-5?). This is a NIGHTMARE for any military members who may be TDY, deployed, PCS'd, etc and in a different time zone. I recently needed an update to my flood insurance policy per FEMA and in order to sell my home. I sent the flood elevation certificate to Sheryl there, and received no acknowledgement of receipt. I emailed her and asked if she could confirm that she got it? Which she did. All she said was "we got it." I asked, is there any estimated time frame in which I can expect to receive my updated quote? She said "We'll work on it right away." Well THREE WEEKS went by and long story short I ended up emailing them and having to threaten to let Dyess' base legal office know of their company's poor practice. Then a man named Tyler emailed me back instead of Sheryl. He said he's working right on it. But he wanted to talk on the phone instead of getting our dealings in writing. I said no way, at this point I want EVERYTHING in writing! So as it stands, the flood elevation certificate needs a manual review because my house is barely on the flood line. So he said he has to go back to the surveyor and have them do that. UGH. I asked why that wasn't done 3 weeks ago? Why do I have to follow up with and threaten a business in order for them to realize that more action is needed? More importantly, I've been paying my mortgage out of pocket now for a month longer than necessary, and I have buyers waiting. Bottom line: if you're military, avoid this business like the Plague.
