I recently moved to Maine and contacted Kara's Petcare on the recommendation of my vet. I was so…read moreexcited because it seemed like they would be able to offer daycare for my dogs and some auxiliary training if needed. They also said they did transport to the daycare facility and boarding on occasion. It seemed perfect. I should mention that there are Kara's pet care facilities in Portsmouth, Berwick, and Falmouth. First I was asked to set up a meet and greet with one of their associates at my home so she could meet my pets. It took me many tries to get through many unreturned phone calls, but finally we did set up the meet and greet and that went well. Then I was asked to set up an app and an account before we could actually schedule any dog care. So I set up the app and the account. Then I was asked to drive my dogs to their facility to see if the dogs would "be happy there." So I drove my dogs 25 minutes to the facility. When I got to the facility I was told that they were supposed to stay there for a day assessment and then I should come and pick them up. This was not communicated to me earlier, and I had not budgeted an extra hour of driving back-and-forth. Then they would reschedule the assessment and they would come and pick up my dogs for the day-long assessment. All before any dog care could be scheduled. So, still not on the calendar. So to summarize: you need to go through a long process of scheduling a meet and greet, then you need to have the meet and greet, then you need to sign up for the app, then your dogs have to be assessed to see if they will be happy. I'm just thinking that anyone who's busy enough to need dog care is too busy for this multilayered, multi-step, poorly communicated process where phone calls, texts, and emails are returned only about half the time.

I love that I can watch my dog play through the webcams and am fully confident my dog is safe when playing at daycare. The staff is open and honest about how my dogs day went and are very attentive to all the dogs in the playroom. As a current customer at this location I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a safe and fun place for their dog to play!

Never in a million years would I ever bring one of my dogs to this location or recommend that…read moresomeone else bring there's for daycare or boarding. No outdoor play area, so the dogs are kept indoors all the time. Yes, that includes when they need to go #1 & #2. So, I would certainly have some concerns when it comes to a sanitary environment. Granted the staff does clean the areas but I would be highly doubtful that they would notice this immediately after it happens. Which makes me wonder, are dogs walking through this unsanitary environment & for how long until one of the staff members cleans the space? Or is there another space where all of the dogs could be moved too for the time being until the unsanitary space is cleaned? Also, my confidence level was not too high when it comes to learning whom would be interacting with the dogs. Do they have a background in dog related training, in what environment, for how long? Not the type of atmosphere where you would get a mom & pop location but rather very corporate feeling. Too many concerns & downsides to even think about considering this location for boarding or daycare.

Diane has been taking care of our cats for several years, and I can't imaging trusting their care…read moreto anyone else. She also comes highly recommended by our local veterinarians. Diane goes beyond just feeding our cats and cleaning their littler boxes. She gives medications when needed and they have regular playtime. We have always had cats with special needs, and Diane takes care of them perfectly. Right now we need to have two of them kept apart at all times, and she switches them around daily. We also have cats on special diets and she takes care of that. Diane emails us while we are away to let us know everyone is fine, and we always look forward to reading Diane's enjoyable care journal when we return home. We feel like we return to some pretty spoiled cats--they obviously love her. We also should mention Diane takes in our mail and packages, waters our plants and makes the house looked lived in with lights, etc. We love that there is total trust and that there are no contracts--the animals come first with Diane. We have had our travel plans change at the last minute and Diane has never charged us when we have had to cancel. These are the many reasons we would never trust our companion animals' care to anyone but Diane at Pets & Petals.

Somehow Diane gets them all to play and provides lots of cuddles, too. She 's part of the family after all these years. When getting ready to travel, I call Diane first to be sure she is available to care for them, THEN book airlines and hotels. She is THE BEST and I am completely comfortable when she is here for them. Several Snowbird neighbors (now moved away) had Diane house sit and were very happy with her service. Taking in mail and packages, opening/closing shades, and watering plants are all just icing on the cake! Thank you, Diane! We'll see you soon!
