I've been a fan of the entire chain since I moved to the city in 2002 and I find the staff to be the most diverse in the entire city. A year living on Whyte and it's definitely an amazing late night-browse if you're not a bar/nightlife person. Open till 12am, it is replete in not only books as the title implies, but many rare comics, trade paperbacks, DVDs, blu-ray, VHS. They have a wonderful collection of classic/vintage sci-fi and fantasy novels as well as current sets, all at least 50% off the cover price. Upstairs (the only WBI in Edmonton that has a second level), vintage magazines (YES, PARENTAL ADVISORY again!) as well as rare books behind glass and religious/philosophy text as well as their massive scifi/fantasy collection is held upstairs Downstairs has a wonderful children's area that is unique to this location. Also, they participate in several of the Whyte avenue street sales/fairs/festivals, making it the most community-oriented of all the chain. Not to mention their wonderful trade-in of 2 to 1 for existing or selling novels in for an increased percentage (details for current policies - call in) if you take it in gift cards (which NEVER expire!!!). They have a wonderful request list that they ACTUALLY CONTACT YOU WHEN THEY RECEIVE THE TITLE! Sick of paying overdue library fines? Want a unique first date/nerdilicious occasion?
