I posted a request for a bird book (Birds of Alberta). I had been looking for since mine had gone missing some time ago. Well what do you know - a few weeks later, they CALLED ME and let me know that they had the book I requested on hold and waiting for me. They have fabulous hours, great staff, and prices are really good too. I parked right out front, but because it was a Friday night at 10:30pm when I went to pick up, they offered to walk me to my car... it's Whyte Avenue, and later on it can be a bit... well, uncomfortable for women alone. Who DOES that anymore?! I REALLY appreciated the offer and concern for my well- being. I love coming in here to browse - and I admit, in the past couple of years of pandemic, I haven't spent any time in any business. At that time of night, and with fewer crowds on a Friday night, I might just have to come and browse again soon. I will definitely be requesting other books online - what an efficient way to shop!

I've been to Audreys for 2 local author book releases... I love the fact they support local authors. Encouraging them to host book signings and book releases at the store and encouraging patrons to purchase local books. I've also called the store asking about what to buy for a niece, unsure about her age group and they made a suggestion, put it at the front so all I needed to do was run in and make the purchase. They are amazing, friendly and accommodating.

My recent visit was on the hunt for the elusive Shopkins which they had just received a whole shipment of AND they had a B3G1 Free sale! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. I cannot believe Shopkins were included but they were so we bought a whole whackload! Also picked up a bunch of cute thank you gifts and some clearance items for a rainy day. We were offered assistance by staff members no less than three times on our hour long recent visit and I had initially phoned to see if they had Shopkins in stock and if they were part of the sale. EXCELLENT customer service all around. What I don't like? CANADIAN book prices!!! But I can't really blame Chapters for that. Normally, I'd give 4 stars for this sort of place but the excellent customer service and beautiful kiddo zone left me all smiles even if my pocketbooks was $150 lighter. I went to their designated call button for online orders, repeatedly pressed the button, allowing time in between each press for a staff member to come from somewhere in the store. I see a staff member organizing shelves, I approach them and ask if they can help me that I'm there to pick up an order and nobody has come to help me. They said I haven't received a call and the I don't need to be rude to them. I paused for a moment confused, and then stated that I'm not being rude. To which point the staff member stated I was being rude and that they were only matching my rude energy. I said I wanted to speak with a different staff member so I didn't have to deal with them. The staff member then replied that too bad, they were the only person available, and maybe I shouldn't be so rude next time and that the call button isn't working and they work in customer service and know how people are. I responded by stating that I work in customer service too and know how to treat people and it wasn't my problem the call button wasn't working, I followed their process to collect my online order, it is not my problem their process is broken. The sales person then asked for my last name, I gave it to them. I had my order open on my phone with the bar code ready to be scanned, the sales person then stated they needed my order number and proceeded to grab my phone out of my hand without asking. As they entered the order number the sales person stated that maybe next time I could just go to the till and have somebody help me there. I said the reason I didn't go there is because they were busy helping other customers and I didn't want to be rude. As they walked away to get my books, I said I was going to leave a bad review and they responded with maybe I shouldn't be so rude next time. I have never experienced such rudeness in a customer service person and then be gaslight by the staff member in trying to make me out to be the bad guy simply because I was expressing frustration in a process. I never once raised my voice, swore or name called. I was simply trying to express my frustration. As someone who has spent their entire career in customer service and take pride and joy in customer service, I find it disappointing that this was the go to response from a customer service person. There is enough ugliness in the world, empathy and kindness when someone is expressing frustration about a process, goes a long way.

They've got games, toys, and tonnes of other items to browse. There's also a Starbucks if you want to buy and coffee and book and sit and read for a bit. My niece and I checked it out for her spring break as they had a week of kids activities. It was super cool... and I learned about new toys that are on the market that I was in the dark about. The event started off with an employee reading a book t all of the kids before they went to the different stations. The different stations for the kids were coloring, play games, and having an interactive experience. Indigo head office also provided grab bags for the first 50 kids or so through the door and we were lucky enough to show up on time and my niece got one. She was tickled pink and went home super happy. Book readers exist lol, we walk amongst everyone else... we need bookstores!! Shop local and save yourself shipping and just buy off the shelf
