The building is secure, with its own parking area for drop off pick up and a coded entry door. The classroom structure is like a public school would be with multiple classrooms of children grouped by age. They have a learning schedule, a small outdoor play space with a recess time block, etc. I noticed the staff did not interact very much h with the children while we were touring. When we entered the one year old room, the children were laying around on the floor away from the staff who were in a small group chatting with each other. In the outdoor play space, we saw about the same thing during recess. We were not there for a long time so it's possible they interact more than we were able to see.

As an employee at Yellow Brick Road in Norwalk, I want to offer a different perspective. I have had…read morea very positive experience working under our Director, Jessica Lopez. She leads with dedication, high standards, and a strong commitment to both the children and staff. While no workplace is perfect, I have always felt supported and valued here. Safety, compliance, and communication are taken seriously by our team, and any concerns are addressed through appropriate channels. I've personally seen firsthand the care and effort that go into maintaining a nurturing and organized environment for both the children and staff. Unfortunately, like many workplaces, we occasionally encounter challenges that can disrupt the smooth, safe, and nurturing environment we strive to maintain. Issues such as frequent call-ins, difficulty following established guidelines, or failure to remain engaged and present in the classroom--such as through improper phone use--can impact both staff and child well-being. To better support our team and ensure the highest standard of care, we are implementing a policy that removes personal phones from the classroom. This change is intended to reduce distractions, prevent avoidable incidents, and increase meaningful engagement with the children. I also want to take a moment to recognize Jessica Lopez, our director. Since I began working here in February, I've never had a leader who shows such genuine care for her team. She ensures we have the tools and support needed to succeed and checks in with us regularly to see how we're doing. Jessica consistently acknowledges and rewards hard work. I started as a full-time floater and was promoted to lead teacher within a month. By May, I was asked to mentor new teachers, and now I'm in the process of becoming an On-Site Supervisor--an opportunity she offered because she sees potential in me and values my contributions. Simply put, when you put in the effort, Jessica notices--and she makes sure it counts. It's unfortunate that someone had such a negative experience, but I encourage families and potential team members to visit the center themselves, meet the leadership, and see the environment firsthand before making any decisions. I'm proud to be part of the Yellow Brick Road team! Blake Gooding Two Year Old Lead Teacher

They are amazing with children, teach them in a way that they are, not only prepared for kindergarten, but still hold onto that creativity that a lot of other programs are unable to hold onto with children. They are very family oriented and have a long history of putting the needs of the child first, even if the parents aren't ready to hear it. I am one of those parents. We knew our son was different, but the teachers helped us figure out that he had sever ADHD and is on the autism spectrum. They did this with love and respect, walking the boundaries of being respectful of parent wishes and pushing for what was best for our child. The center not only has made an impact with me, I have worked in the field almost 30 years and 10 of those are here at CCYC, but also with my family as my oldest son put his daughter on our waitlist the moment they found out they were pregnant. Not only do I recommend CCYC to other child care professionals looking for somewhere to make a career at, but for any family that is looking for a center that is here for their children's growth and development into young caring learners.

Primrose has been wonderful in more ways than I expected! -The school is new, spacious and beautiful! -The owners are lovely! They give the school a nice feel of a family environment. -The food they serve is healthy and made on site. -Because the school opened recently, the class was small and my girl just loved it from the start, and now she is loving that the class is growing snd she is slowly meeting more children. -The curriculum is great! My girl is learning all about natural resources and other things that are interesting and useful. -When it comes to COVID, they went above and beyond to keep everyone safe (and did more than the bear minimum recommended by the state). They installed air filters that are above the CDC guidelines. Additionally, they are very open and transparent about teachers vaccinations, and really foster a safe environment. I asked other daycares I called if the teachers were planning to get vaccinated - some places just answered: we can't make them, so we don't even ask! Which I know, but that's not enough for me! I highly recommend Primrose School of Urbandale!
