The star of the plate would have to be the lazy pierogi, loaded with mushrooms & butter. The half fish is $18 and full is $22. Our bill came to $52 for 2 whole fish fries & four beers. The dining area could use a little more character but it's clean and the waitresses were attentive.

He was always so proud of being a member. This particular hall is large and very clean, including the rest rooms. The bar for this event was serving free beer and pop. You could purchase mixed drinks for a nominal fee. The bartender was quick and friendly. The setup worked well for the meat raffle. The space can also be used/rented for other large gatherings. I first found out about the Massachusetts Avenue Project when I was looking for place near me to…read moredrop off kitchen compost. MAP is one of the drop-off locations for the City of Buffalo's residential food scrap collection program. If you'd like to participate, you can bring your scraps any time and look for the orange bins on the outer side of the fence. But MAP is more than just a place to drop off compost. It's an urban farm on the West Side that provides job and leadership training for low income youth. It also hosts cooking classes and gardening workshops, and a seasonal farm stand. You can also rent space in their farmhouse and/or commercial kitchen as well. I believe you can contact the org to request a tour of the farm (suggested donation $5), though I got a chance to see the grounds and go inside the farmhouse during MAP's annual seedling sale, where they also had outside vendors. Even though we didn't buy any seedlings (my recent track record with plants is not so great), it was still a fun visit. My three-year-old was interested in MAP's resident chickens, the demonstration beehive, and in the baby cows that were visiting the farm that day. We also purchased some food from one of the outside vendors, and some honey made by MAP's own bees. I'd definitely recommend being on the lookout for other MAP events if you're interested in locally grown food or edible gardening.

Because they fight for the rights of all, not just immigrants. This annual fundraiser brings all sorts of Buffalonians together - those who've lived here their whole lives and some who came last week. It's price point is low, making it available for all. The event has food from around the world, so again, everyone will find something they like. They have various restaurants, from the Canadians making poutine to the Japanese with raw fish to chocolates from the native Buffalonians. Also, Chinese, Burmese, ice cream (Italian?), and more. There are also plenty of things available to purchase for yourself or gifts. All sorts of fun ethnic gifts from various shops around town. Great annual event.

I love that you can try new places (e.g., we found a new German restaurant) or try different dishes from old favorites (e.g., Sun Restaurant) - where I usually get the pad thai but in the future will also be rotating in the delicious black rice dish. The event is nice in that there are a lot of options that your average person may not have experienced (e.g., Burmese, Ethiopian) mixed with things that are more mainstream - like potato pancakes from Germany or poutine from Canada. The only thing that keeps this event from being a 5-start is the seating situation. The event has gained in popularity and it can be hard to juggle the food. There are maybe half a dozen large round tables with chairs and another half dozen to a dozen cocktail tables. People who come with groups stake them out and stay the night. Even if the seat is empty it is not uncommon to be told that it is taken. Some of the dishes you can eat standing up but others (e.g., soup) are hard to eat without some sort of surface. (Thus, the lack of food photos from me...) I love that you get a map of the world and that you get stamped at each location you visit. Every year we try to make it to all the stops but there is always too much food to quite pull it off - even with some sharing. All around, a great event!

I appreciated that I could choose how much I wanted, both to eat and to pay. Signing up to volunteer was easy through the online portal and I could tell that I was helping with what needed to get done. The location is accessible - by bike, car, walking, and bus (route 3, Grant) - and the inside is warm and welcoming. Will definitely come back when I am free for lunch during the week!

You can take classes here, which are small and offer personalized service. You will learn a lot in the six week beginner class. You will learn how to "throw clay", make a bowl or perhaps a mug, glaze it and actually use it! How cool is that? Already know how to throw a bowl? You can also join here and come as often as you like. Its a monthly membership I think, and you pay for firing of course. Clay is priced reasonably, the space is nice, all the tools are there. All thats missing is you.

I know for a fact that the guys at Buffalo Clay art are not hard to reach. in fact one time I contacted them a few days before Christmas because I wanted some suggestions on which kind of pottery wheel to buy and they got back to me right away. I was shocked at such a quick response time on the most hectic day of the Christmas season . They had nothing to gain no funds to earn from answering my question. Again they are not hard to reach but some part of me is glad that Cherie wasn't able to reach them because she sounds like an ass. I guess that's how you become yelp elite by posting comments for businesses you don't have any real experience with. In terms of my experience with the actual business, because I've taken at least two classes there and several members of my friends and family have taken classes there I can say that buffalo clay art center is a wonderful place to learn about pottery the people that teach the classes are experts they truly love what they do and they are amazing at it I cannot suggest a better place to learn from!! The place is more like a fashion agency than a food bank as upper management would rather look good…read morethan do good. I've witnessed multiple people get turned away and not receive food although they can give boxes of non perishable food out at their own discretion. When perishable food is donated it usually sits on a shelf in the cool until it goes bad and then it's discarded. Many project completed by volunteers often go to the wayside as it sits in the warehouse and does not make it to a food pantry before items in the box pass the extended shelf life. Beware!!!
