I was intrigued and fascinated by Robert Hoffman's art. He works with a lot of ceramics and creates plates, dishes, cups, and serving pieces. His technique is to press the design of lace into the ceramic piece before it is fired in a kiln. The result is the amazing and intricate ceramic pieces that are just magnificent. I wish that I had brought a piece home. There are other designers and artist in the studio. I loved the fox sculpture. It looked so lifelike and was very light. The only thing that stopped me from purchasing that piece was the price tag-$900. But, really for a sculpture by an original artist, that is not bad. It is just out of my range. There were paintings and other forms of art. The studio has a variety of artists and beautiful pieces. I would recommend stopping by and the artist are there and will talk to you. What a unique place! Above the Wedge brewery is a shared gallery space with multiple "artists in residence." Each room hosts a different artist and their creations. Most will spend time and speak with you about their work. The majority of the artwork was paint on canvas, but there are some interesting sculptures throughout. Everything is for sale so bring your checkbook. read more

We spent the entire day in the River Arts District during our vacation, actually parked near this building, and then circled back after a lot of walking and visiting other galleries. This gallery is in a huge repurposed building, along with a brewery and restaurant. As with any large gallery space, you'll find some art you like, and some art you .... don't. If you want to see all of the gallery space, be prepared to walk up and down some stairs. We weren't in the mood for a beer but it was cool to see that you could chill out and get a drink in the rear area of this complex. Although we didn't buy any original art, my wife ordered some COVID masks from one of the artists online stores. Worth a visit if you like exploring art galleries. read more

Not everything is open on Sundays. Third floor was totally closed. However, the artists who were there, working, and visiting with each of us passing through were friendly. A really nice variety of medium and everyone was really interesting. An excellent collection of talent wedged into Asheville. read more

Wedge Studios is HUGE. I only point this out because for a long time, I thought the studios only consisted of The Wedge Brewery, Splurge [which is incredible] a hair salon and a restaurant. I always thought it odd this was called a studio. BUT, come to find out, there are so many MORE studios in the same building, reachable from the backside [and two more floors at that!] Where to even begin? Wedge Studios is most commonly known for housing The Wedge Brewery on their bottom level but if you venture around to the other side of the building (entrance on street level) you can walk into the Wedge Studios! The building has two upper levels of artists' studios that have various mediums of art and many are open to the public to browse. They are working studios so often times you can see the artists right there in the midst of creating their current projects and pieces. Much of the offerings for sale were larger wall art and prints, but a couple studios also had cell phone cases, magnets, post cards, stationary, etc displaying their artwork in alternate forms. I thought this was a great way for visitors to support the local artists and be able to take a piece of artwork home with them without lugging around a large canvas or framed art. read more

Joel is the most amazing server I have met in my 23 years of life. His dexterity is so stunning he should apply for cirque du soleil. While clearing tables with an astoundingly personable manner, he had glasses stacked up to his well groomed beard. While I have only resided in Asheville for one week, I shall surely return to this location in order to witness this beautiful spectacle of glass stacking. read more
