Jon contacted me the week of the proposal to confirm final details and was responsive via text the day of. He was prompt and was at the location at the planned time. Initially was hidden in the background allowing the proposal to still feel intimate and private. He captured great pictures of the proposal, and you would have no idea other people were in the area by looking at the final pictures. I purchased a LivingSocial for a photo session before my daughter was born to do photos. We emailed a few times and set up a date, 3 weeks after she was born and he picked the location, citing that he had been there before and it was really pretty. He confirmed the Glenview Mansion in Rockville as the location, 2 pm time and even said all we had to bring were big smiles. Our shoot was 10 days later on July 20. We get there and he is late...I see another family there and wonder if that may be him because no one else is at the location. I can't reach him via phone and email him at 3:04 pm asking where he is as we have arrived. Eventually he shows up and greets the other family. We go up and introduce ourselves, ready for our session as well. Peter stares at me, blankly, then back at the other family. I remind him that he picked this location, date and time, I show him the emails and the only paltry excuse he could come up with is "..I guess I double-booked". Ok...well, what do you think his corrective steps were or even his logic for next steps? He decides to go with the other family because they paid full-price. I asked if he could maybe alternate...shooting them and then shooting us...I asked if he could at least get a few shots of just my newborn...(mind you she is three weeks old and it is outdoors in July so it was so hot) a refund, opportunity to shoot some other time...anything to demonstrate that he messed up and wanted to correct it. This man didn't do a single thing. I get it, the people who paid more are worth more to you but if you aren't organized enough to manage your bookings, don't use outside services to book them like LivingSocial! I still see him pop up here and there on the coupon websites and I am disgusted. He walked away from us, leaving us with a "go f-ck yourself because not my problem" attitude and made no attempt to rectify it. He sent me an email afterwards where he offered up this explanation: "I can't offer anything but my deepest apologies this does not happen often but yes it happens. We only double booked twice from 507 vouchers redeemed and I know it's not an excuse. Somewhere along the way the communication got lost. I also apologize for being to firm and couldn't take you on. If possible, I would recommend talking to him before even booking your venue because he's so experienced with the DMV area and knows so many good venues that would be photogenic. He's responsive, on time, and very professional. For example, on our wedding day, my mother's makeup was running late, but my wife wanted to get a picture with her before we headed out to the first look. Based on his years' experience, Carl immediately told the makeup artist just to put on the lipstick first for my mother and snapped a few shots for us. Even now, my mother still mentions how great and decisive he was that day! Carl was funny, decisive/efficient, and great with all my wedding party (including our 3-year-old flower girl), as well as with both sides of parents. His ability to speak Mandarin Chinese was the cherry-on-top, as he could communicate with many of our guests that way! His assistant Chuck (who covered me & the groomsmen during getting-ready) was also excellent; he made sure we all felt comfortable and natural in front of the camera by laughing along with us and being extremely personable. And with the extra hour we paid for his shooting, we ended up getting quite a few more really good pics. Upon review of his website, I see it is buried in his terms and conditions page. Why someone would choose to do business this way, I have no idea. I could not in good conscience take my customers' money and then refuse to refund it even if I performed no work. Sam feels differently.

While searching for a wedding photographer, both my wife and I were introduced to the notion of hiring Pete through another newly engaged couple at a "takeover" event @ Artifact Coffee. After a night of good food and talking wedding shenanigans, we scheduled a face to face with Pete. We met Pete at his office / home. You can tell right away that this guy is completely immersed in his profession by his collection of cameras, lenses and awesome setup for integrating his profession with modern day technology. After sitting down with him, he asked us where we were going to hold our wedding. Once we told him we were holding it in a small vintage town in Lambertville, NJ. He immediately pulled up on his TV, from an iPad via Apple TV, a couple of wedding's he shot that were similar to our wedding. Immediately we were impressed. What was more impressive was that we thought each wedding he shot was UNIQUE. Now the only part that was left was the $$$$. Warning: Pete is not at all a cheap photographer. He may even be expensive to some people, but I feel that the job he does justifies the cost. For those wondering, he does negotiate on cost if items needed to be added or replaced. *Fast Forward to Wedding* The wedding shots came out perfect, so perfect that we even bought two parent brag books (two copies of our album in a smaller size) for each of our parents due to how shots were so spot on. The only shots that didn't come out as well were the shots where our DJ went above and beyond his responsibilities and gave us free upgrades (yay! you cant beat free) to up lighting and laser lights. Now what laser lights does is kills your photos by putting polka dots on everyone's faces. *Sad Face* What is even more amazing was the fact that Pete was able to edit the photos on the fly in lightroom/photoshop while we were there during one of our post wedding meetings. This says a lot as he is comfortable with the pressure of us being there as he performs his magic. Due to the nature that my wife's family lives in Hong Kong, we needed to look for a photographer for our second wedding. Now wedding photographers in HK are freaking expensive for what you get. Even if the photography is good, you have to pay their expensive base price along with the expensive add ons which are not made well, along with someone that does not speak English very well. So based off the price, we had a brilliant idea and asked Pete what it would cost him to shoot our wedding in HK. Lucky for us, we were able to negotiate the price competitively to what we would pay for a photographer in HK and accommodations. What we got out of it was quality photos on our wedding day along with day after shots at various places, because who travels half way across the world to just shoot for one day at one location.
