After meeting with Jaclyn, Shaunt and I knew she was the perfect fit as our photographer. Her relaxed attitude, artistry and portfolio really captured us. My husband proposed in Maui by the beach at sunset so Jaclyn acknowledged that our engagement session had to be near the beach and towards sunset as it was very symbolic and meaningful to our story. Jaclyn even climbed a rock to find the perfect angle for one of the beach sand photos. The results were absolutely breathtaking. When it came to our wedding day, she brought an assistant to help cover 250 guests and other special moments. We told her what to keep an eye on during our Armenian Christian wedding ceremony and the traditions that take place at the reception. During a busy wedding season, she provided an extensive preview a couple weeks after our wedding in August. A few weeks later she provided the final link to all of our photos and they were jaw dropping. Jaclyn's work is so beautiful! I found Jaclyn on Yelp and really liked her work and reasonable pricing so I decided to give her a call to meet up for coffee. She was over 30 minutes late (although she did text me to tell me so) but I wanted to give her a second chance and look at her work. I really liked her personality and her portfolio was nice given she's only been doing this for about 4 years. She promised that she would not be late if we did use her for our wedding. I did mention to her that she had to be approved through the resort that we are getting married at since she lives out of town and she was okay with that. The wedding coordinator emailed Jaclyn to get her insurance but didn't get an email back. After several days passed, I emailed Jaclyn and didn't get a response email from her until a few days later. She indicated that she was busy all weekend and would call back the coordinator that same afternoon. Well, she never called! Since she was late for our first meeting, I feel that she should have been prompt with her follow through with me and the coordinator. Totally unacceptable. Perhaps it's her youth or lack of professional experience.. I expected more from a photographer that is trying to build her business. Your wedding is a very special day and all vendors that you use should make it a great experience. So, if you want a photographer that is tardy and lacks quick response but is cheap and does fairly good work then you found your gal.

We had such a wonderful experience working with Jade Zhang for our wedding portraits! We chose two…read morevery different locations -- San Francisco City Hall for indoor photos and Sutro Baths and the surrounding coastline for outdoor photos--and Jade handled both settings beautifully. Jade is warm, friendly, professional, and incredibly efficient. She knows the best locations, angles, and poses, so we never felt awkward or unsure about what to do. She guided us throughout the shoot while still making everything feel natural and relaxed. We received 245 beautiful photos and selected 30 for retouching. The final images are absolutely amazing -- we love every one of them. What impressed us most was Jade's flexibility and dedication when it came to the unpredictable San Francisco weather. On our originally planned outdoor shoot date, the forecast said it would be sunny, but the coast was covered in thick fog. Jade quickly suggested trying the Golden Gate Bridge instead, but it was foggy there as well. We still took a few photos, and two of them turned out surprisingly beautiful even though the bridge was completely hidden! Jade was very understanding and helped us reschedule. Since we live in the South Bay, she offered to monitor the weather and contact us one or two days in advance whenever she was available and the forecast looked promising. She even offered to arrive at Sutro Baths hours before our scheduled session to check the conditions herself, so we wouldn't have to make the long drive if it was too foggy. That was incredibly thoughtful and considerate. Thankfully, the rescheduled day had beautiful weather, and Jade captured the most stunning photos of us by the ocean. My husband and I had a 5 month engagement and due to timing/distance, we first met with Reece and Katrina over Skype and they had a wonderful way of setting us at ease and making us feel like friends - a feeling that continued throughout our experiences with them. And, without spoiling the surprises here, along the way they go above and beyond in lots of "little" ways to make you feel like less of a "customer" and more of a friend. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that their wedding packages also include an engagement photo session - something that we probably would not have had done/been able to afford otherwise. The engagement session was a great way for us to get to know them and for them to get to know us BEFORE the big day, something I now see as such a good idea and so important. In preparing for the wedding, there was lots of communication beforehand about what shots were wanted and who all would be involved so that when the wedding day came I felt confident that we were all on the same page and didn't once have to worry about the photographers getting the shots I wanted. Every couple is different and Reece and Katrina have a gift for working with each couple to illuminate their personality and style, as I have seen from their many lovely gallery photos. My husband and I were perhaps not as comfortable or artistic in front of a camera as some, but they worked with us to bring out who we are and I never felt like the photos were forced or contrived. They also have a gift for capturing beautiful images in a wide variety of settings. Our wedding was a traditional church wedding in the city of Vallejo - perfect for us but perhaps not the most picturesque setting - and they captured our day beautifully without letting the confines of the setting be a hindrance to that. The photos from both our engagement and wedding were uploaded to their gallery website in a very timely manner and the site itself is easy to use to manage your photos. We opted to include a professional wedding album in our package and it is gorgeous! When it took a little longer than expected to get our album preview ready for us (something that I had hardly noticed) they automatically upgraded the number of pages in the album at no additional cost to us. Joyce seemed to understand the feeling that we were going for with our wedding and could answer every one of my photo-knowledgable wife's questions about their approach to photography. It was also important to us to know that we'd have two photographers for the wedding to allow us to capture both of us prior to the ceremony and Joyce and Randy provide that. They were exactly what you'd want on the day of the wedding: non-intrusive. Having just now received the final photos from the day, it was clear that they were there for many moments that we were pleasantly surprised by and captured all the important pieces without fail. Also, we weren't keen on the idea of too many posed formal pictures and they made that part of the day quick and painless. There were only two reasons that we gave them four stars instead of five. First, and this one serves as more of a warning to be specific in your needs as a potential customer, we didn't get as many still life pictures of the event as we would have liked. While it's typical that the bride and groom don't get to eat a lot, we're pretty sure there was a lot of beautiful food there and we were surprised not to see any of it in the photos. Second is that the engagement photo session that was included in the package was a bit concerning for us. We picked a location that had lots of variety and lots of different lighting situations and when we received the photos we became very concerned about their ability to ensure proper lighting conditions on our faces on the day of. However, once we discussed this with them and they let us know the difference between what they did on the test shoot day versus the day of, we were satisfied. That satisfaction proved true when Randy, because he knew it meant a lot to us, took test pictures of every important image to check the lighting before moving on. We would definitely recommend J. Perlman and R. Lutge to anyone getting married in the San Francisco Bay Area.
