American Eagle Financial Credit Union

American Eagle Financial Credit Union

On 2/21/25, my best friend Dennis and I visited American Eagle at 888 Queen St., Southington, CT…read more I've known Dennis for about 12 years--he's like family to me. Dennis is a retired correction officer who has physical disabilities, and he recently opened an account at this branch based on my recommendation. What followed was an appalling and upsetting experience that's still deeply affecting me. We were told the ATM machine was broken and that we would need to travel to Plainville to get a new card, with only 20 minutes before closing time. I requested an additional $100 due to urgent financial matters related to my day trading, which the teller misinterpreted as suspicious. As a result, Dennis's ATM card was blocked, leaving him unable to access his $8,600 balance for three days. Because of this, Dennis was left with no way to pay for his accommodations and was forced to sleep outside on the night of 2/23/25, without access to any funds. He's been unreachable since then, which is completely out of character for him. After knowing him for 12 years, I'm genuinely terrified that he may have passed away due to this entire ordeal. I do not know if he is alive or dead at this point, and that's a terrifying thought to live with. This could have all been prevented with simple communication and due diligence. The assumption-based decisions made by the bank were careless and reckless. As a long-time customer and someone who's had personal experience with this bank, I can say with certainty that American Eagle does hire employees based on DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) initiatives, which is a fact. While I respect diversity, it's clear the lack of experience and professionalism in handling customer service led to disastrous consequences. Dennis's life and well-being were put at risk due to this VERY unprofessional behavior, and I urge everyone to think twice before trusting this bank with their accounts.

WARNING. This is a long review but read it if you want to know what the Stop and Shop people's bank…read morelocation is like. Do not go to this bank. I've been a member for years and my whole family is too. I go to both the stop and shop and Queen St locations. So I go to the stop and shop location this time and I haven't been back since. Google says bank opens at 10 that day. Hour board says same thing. I was depositing a check and withdrawing. So I get to the area around 9:57 and just waited patiently for them to open. I was in no rush so I didn't really mind. So 10 goes by then 10:05 and 10:10. I look at my watch and it is 10:12 and the two bankers are walking in with iced coffees and on their phones. That made me a little angry. Anyway I went to the table thingy with the deposit slips to start filling one out and (well call the two bankers A and B). Banker a pretty much scolds me telling me there not open yet. I said ok. They said had to move the table before I could fill out the slip so I complied and at this point was a little agitated. So about 5 min later they move the table and banker a said something to the effect of "you can fill out your forms now" and mumbled something I couldn't hear. So I went to the desk and finished the slip. So I walk up to the counter and both scold me saying I am rushing them even though they were both 15 minutes late and not exactly in a hurry to open the bank. But like I said I had the whole day so I waited. 2 people showed up behind me and started to fill out their forms so there were 3 of us now. We waited and they told us it would be a minute because whoever did the system last night didn't do it right (whatever that means) Banker B was booting up the supposedly broken system and it's now 10:20 and the two were chatting a breeze about their Thursday (I'm assuming they went out) their kids anything that could keep them from working. Anyway the other two customers were on one side of the table and I was on the other and we were all frustrated. It's now 10:30 and there still not open but right when I looked down at my watch they said they finally were open. Well they help the other customer that showed up 15 min after me first because he "was on the right side of the table" well ok I know I wasn't technically in line but it is obvious I was ready and had been ready for 30 min. Banker A was the one who helped the other customer and banker b then called over the other one for the same reason. Thankfully that guy had a heart and said I was here first so I should go. I said thank you and went to the counter. I slid my card and entered my pin didn't work she said. Ok tried again same thing. She accuses me of a faulty card which I don't even know what that means but whatever. Give me the worst customer service and attitude. She then realizes she had not turned on the pinpad. Ok? Then when I slide my card and entered the pin she asked me for ID. I said why and she said it was mandatory for all people now to provide ID. Thinking nothing of it I gave it to her. She then questioned everything I did. Why don't you know your checking account number. Umm I don't keep it on me and I don't have it memorized. Where do you work. What's your address last four of ssn. I'm like this is crazy. She then accused me of giving her a "mean" look. Ok? I deposited a 200$ check and asked for 50$ cash. Well she gave me a 50 and I asked for 2 20s and a 10 and she said no and screamed next like it was the DMV. Keep in mind banker a is giving the first customer a hard time as well. I leave and realize she din't print a balance on my receipt which I always ask for. So out of curiosity I went to Queen St to just do a withdrawal and they didn't give me a hard time no I'd no personal questions and gave me the bills how I wanted. I asked the teller if you needed to have ID from now on and he looked at me like I had two heads. So the Stop and Shop banker lied to me. I told the Queen Street teller the story and she said " doesn't surprise me" So if you live or bank at Southington people's always go to the Queen St location and stop and shop only if the main branch is closed or you want a 5 min trip to turn into a 45 min trip from the lowest layer of h+ll Again sorry this was so long
