John Becker did an excellent job with narrating Maryville College's 200-year anniversary video. Professional all the way!

Oh good grief! After spending time in Chattanooga and the Carolinas and viewing those lucky…read moreregion's PBS offerings, one can only throw up one's hands and reach for the remote whenever confronted with the endless permutations and re-re-runs of Antique Roadshow, various bake-offs (and their re-runs), 'money-pit' home makeovers mc'd by nasal-voiced yankees, and historically inaccurate soap-operas. Who needs 'water-boarding', when the miscreant could be forced to watch a WKOP Saturday evening consisting of 30-year old "Brit-coms"? Marginally humorous 30 years ago, out of date puns and observations regarding various aspects of the human condition haven't worn well, no not at all! It's enough to make one wish for a return of those snowy, static-filled, b/w soccer games, a feature of the late 70's! The news offerings suffer from the usual bias, and many of the main-stay programs seem terribly dumbed-down. Even Masterpiece seems to have lost its way, suffering from the ending of the stellar (British produced) Downton Abbey. But hang in there, viewers! There's a few decent programs on the WKOP horizon, but your fellow viewers in nearby regions have already viewed them. (I have!) PBS in E Tennessee suffered for years, due to a horribly weak signal from a tower in Sneadville (what insider had that land for sale, LOL?!), and other broadcast regions have left this poor station in their dust. The two alternative WKOP offerings offer all-night children's shows (whatz with that?), and endless cooking programs. Yum.... Thank God, for Netflix! Later. Much later... Years later, and no programming improvements are in evidence! Streaming SCETV worth the hassle, LOL! Will the ENDLESS procession of reruns, infomercials, and reruns of pledge-begging EVER end?

Like other reviewers, I too miss the old Sentinel before corporate buyouts and monopolies,…read morehowever...the print Sentinel of now does a pretty decent job of reporting what we need to know that is going on in our State and some of the (I assume USA Today) reporters out of Nashville are excellent. And we need to know this stuff in detail not in bytes or we cannot be good citizens, not to mention that what we know means we can work for our own welfare! I am impressed at how unbiased the reportage is and it's hard to find actual journalism these days. Like a previous reviewer, I too wish the sports section would cover more baseball during season and not so much foolball, but all in all going through the newspaper section by section in the easy chair is still a treat.

This town desperately needs another newspaper for at least two reasons. !. The Sentinel rarely…read moreprints news that disagrees with it's politics. When it does print real news it is changed by the Gannett guys et al that are ruthless. We need to have this news reporting balanced. 2. An example of incompetence that we have experienced is hard to believe. We have been subscribers for almost a year. We cannot use the morning paper if it arrives after 7:30AM. Several times each month it does not arrive on time. We have reported the failure dozens of times. Nothing gets done except we receive a B.S. letter saying they will tend to it. They never do. We like a print paper in the morning, even if it's biased it still contains local news we have an interest in. We refuse to let this delivery person force us to cancel. He/She would love it. We refuse and will continue to complain.
