We are new to the area and this is better than any pizza shop we've had! Christie and Bob are extremely kind and are very welcoming. Food is delicious and a lot of care is taken with preparation, freshness, and flavor. Not only was it tasty for dinner, but this pizza saves SO well. The crust stays crispy and is absolutely the best leftover pizza I've ever had too. Don't forget the cookies either which are homemade! This will definitely be our go to spot!

    Chicken Stir Fry with Spaghetti

Wayside Pizza opened recently near Bullfinchs in the former Fire Dough Kitchen (moved to Framingham). This locally owned eatery serves up pizzas, calzones, hot & cold subs, wraps, syrian pockets, burgers, salads, pasta dinners, Mediterranean food, gyros, fried rice, appetizers, baklava, and cold drinks (Pepsi products) in the cooler. The place is order at the counter and there is table seating inside. I stopped by Wayside Pizza for takeout very recently. I was greeted by the friendly couple who own this place. I ordered the Chicken Stir Fry with Spaghetti ($13 plus tax) served with side salad and bread. They also gave me some marinara sauce on the side for my pasta too. The pasta dish was prepared fresh to order and my food was boxed and ready in under 10 minutes. The chicken stir fry spaghetti was a good size tasty portion, which had soft thin spaghetti, tossed with tender marinated pieces of boneless chicken, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, garlic, seasonings, and oil. The small side salad had iceberg lettuce, tomato, onions, and topped with lots of dressing. The garlic bread was half a chewy sub roll, lightly toasted with melted butter, garlic, parsley. After enjoying my chicken stir fry spaghetti, I will have to try one of their specialty pizzas on the next visit!

Ordered online. Everything was easy and on time. Pizza was middle of the road. We would do it again.

Fast service. Pleasant people. Pizza was good, but made with thick crust. Toppings were generous. I prefer a thinner crust

I have visited the Newton location many times and excellent pizza. I was in the area late evening…read morebefore their 9 pm closing and i opted to try the Sudbury location . It is larger than the Newton spot and a bigger bar area, more extensive menu with many pasta dishes, appetizers. The pizza is my preference . I ordered the Dante pizza and very good meatballs slices on the pizza . The beer selections on draft are all good. I think the pizza crust was better on the Newton pizza... or a perceived perception? But maybe because I really enjoyed the Newton pizza which was the L'oscar which was grilled onions, sausage, mascarpone , olive oil, mushrooms, mozzarella. Maybe the Newton water vs. Sudbury water in the dough theory or maybe I am just being an over anal analyst of the dough? Either case both locations have great pizza. I would test the water at both locations and see affects on the dough and which water had better preferred pizza dough qualities ? Maybe then filter the water or Bri g a 5 gallon jug of the better water for the dough ? Maybe the dirty Boston water or New York water in Bew York bagels theory? Or maybe who cares ? On a different note; The oven baked wings I had in Newton were very good and meaty with the grilled onions ... I do have 1/2 pie to save for next day lunch as their pizza reheats well. I like both locations and Sudbury easier parking .

I usually sit at the bar, which is very cozy and comfortable, order up a nice Jack's Abbey House Lager, and a build-your-own pizza. Their pizzas are great. They're coal fired and although they always have some char (by design) the crust still has a nice chew to it. They seem to have really perfected the dough recipe. Everyone who works here is super friendly, and the vibe is relaxed. I love coming to Max and Leo's whenever I get the chance!

Decided to try this place after sobra mesa closed in the same spot. I believe it is the same owners…read moreand for sure much of the same staff, with a remade concept. The restaurant itself is still very nice - big bar at which I ate (single) and a separate dining room. Given my dissatisfaction with the former cuisine I did not have high expectations this time. But I believe this time may work out better for them. There are few decent Italian restaurants in the area, whereas there is heavy competition in good Mexican food. My daughter and her husband have gotten takeout and dined in once and warned me it might be inconsistent. We shall see. I believe they have potential. The wines are not clearly explained. Just "light" or "not so light". Cute but uninformative. Wine prices by the glass are on the high side. I tried one that was supposed to be similar to a Pinot noir. It was terribly bitter. It was then replaced with a Barbera. Much better. I wanted to graze so avoided large plates. Ordered the meatballs appetizer and the eggplant ricotta crepe. This place also serves pizza (which are basically flatbreads so don't expect decadent crust) so the meatballs were the standard pizza-style rubber balls. Sauce was flavorful but they were too chewy. The eggplant crepes- which I can only describe as "quesadilla-like" were wonderful. Very light but full of flavor (I asked to hold the truffle oil, which can overpower). I'd order those again, with a bit less pesto on top as there is plenty of basil inside. It's a small app but nice. That dish is a winner. Service was experienced and quite knowledgeable. When I commented on the meatball texture they did acknowledge- "Well yeah we know that." On a Friday night they were pretty quiet. I hope they make it. I will come back when I'm visiting the daughter again and try a couple of other dishes.

The cocktails (Pom Pom and Violette Smash) were delightfully refreshing and the red wine was, in deed, "Really Nice." We started with 2 appetizers: the mushroom bruschetta which was delicious and just crispy enough, and the wood-roasted meatballs which were awesome! (and to be honest we're typically pretty picky about our meatballs!) I had the chicken parm, which was absolute perfection (not surprising given their other sister business Nan's is known for their fried chicken)! My mom had the Bolognese with chorizo, which she thought was a little spicy for her taste, but still delightful. My dad had the Slow Cooked Pork Sugo, which I think is his new favorite Italian dish ever! Also, there was still plenty left to take home to continue enjoying for leftovers the next day! By the way, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is, of course, incredible (we even decided to host my sister's bridal shower in the upstairs space earlier this year - If you're interested, see the Private Events section of Sobre Mesa's website!) I highly recommend stopping in or making a reservation for your next dinner out or ordering takeout! We will definitely be back again soon!
