The food is dirt cheap. My Roast Pork & Gravy Plate was pure comfort food for less then $5.00. Two slices of bread, shredded roast pork, mash potatoes with gravy poured on top. The Cheese Curds were huge nuggets of cheese with a thin layer of breading. Juicy Cheeseburger and huge crunchy Onion Rings. The Banana Split was a true old fashion split. A scoop of vanilla, strawberry, chocolate ice cream, fudge, caramel, strawberry sauce with whip cream, nuts and a cherry on top. They have a cheese case and another cooler selling other dairy products. Along with maple syrup, honey, dry mixes, cow pies and other dry wisconsin products on the shelves. For the adventurous, they offer braunschweiger and/or farmer cheese sandwiches. The milkshakes and ice cream are great. The cheese shop has an great variety of cheese and local products (butter, cottage cheese, deli meats). Their cheese is focused on the classic yellow/white variety which is a bit bland, but very inexpensive. If you are up for something a bit "diapery" -- try the farmer's cheese. The huge party platters seem like a great deal, so keep those in mind.

Weirdest name for a restaurant with some of the best food in town!…read more I've been to Mother's Day Restaurant a few times now, as I frequently travel to this area. What a great place! When you walk in, you are truly walking in to a family diner that oozes of home cooked goodness. Food cooked to order that is delicious every single time. My personal favorite, as I've been there for lunch a few times, is the BLT. Sounds simple, right? I love a good BLT. Simple by design yet some places still manage to screw it up. Not Mother's Day. They got it right on target. Perfectly toasted bread. Crispy crunch salty bacon-y bacon. Crisp fresh lettuce and a perfectly ripe tomato to balance it all out. Can you taste it? I want it.....now! The servers at Mother's Day are about the friendliest group of people you will ever encounter in your life. Guaranteed. Anyone that says any different needs to look in the mirror. Always attentive, friendly and helpful. When you walk in, you'll notice the bakery case. Pastries, cakes, pies....whatever is fresh and in house that day. On my last visit, I noticed the carrot cake in the case. So I asked about it and was assured that it was incredible. Well, good luck cramming down a piece of anything after you finish your meal at Mother's Day. Did you say, to-go? I'm listening.... They sold me on the carrot cake and guaranteed that it was amazing. So, later that evening, I confirmed their words and that carrot cake, was in fact........AMAZING! Would I go back? There's not a lot in this particular area in Horicon, WI. But that's the beauty and the secret of Mother's Day. You don't need anywhere else. You could put 2 or 3 fast food junk chain restaurants all on the same block and I'd never even notice them, fully knowing that there is a gem of a restaurant called Mother's Day just waiting to serve up some delicious home cooked food.
