I came here for the 2022 Rosie the Riverter high tea. This was a buy your ticket type of event…read morebecause it was of limited availability as far seating goes. Parking was within the parking and for the most part, parallel parking without marked lines. Finding the location is easy and the park is definitely marked on the road. The tea was lovely with various tea sandwiches that you would except to see at a fancy tea house. The real life Rosie's all came with at least 1 family member and were mixed in with the other guests. The tables were seat up in groupings of 4. The food was quite good. The history that was provided by the people who put on the Event provide interesting information about the local area. There was also a sing quartet who sang songs from the Era of the Rosie's. You also were free to see the rose bushes named for the Rosie's after the lunch and or tour the other buildings. I will definitely be back.

If you are in the Westland area stop by this hidden gem on Wayne Rd. While the park is not hidden,…read morenot too many people know what this historical park has to offer or that it even exists. The beautiful site has historical homes and structures that have been converted into exhibits. You can visit the Eloise Hospital exhibit, find your old Wayne / Westland yearbook, or explore the natural and cultural origins of Westland. The museum is open most Saturdays 1-4 (closed temporarily due to covid-19) and is ran by the Westland Historical Commission / Society. They give awesome tours of the park and are very knowledgeable about the city's history. Their archives are located in the office which is a great source of information that they are happy to share with you! On occasion they will have special events or lectures which are posted on their Website http://whvp66.weebly.com Call them about hosting a wedding or special event. They would love to have you! Come walk around on a Saturday and get your local history fix!

Have a great eye when in this area do yah?…read more If you have driven by this historic, whitewashed location in Garden City like me you should know Straight Farmhouse been around for over 'One-Hundred and Fifty years.' In the hip of Merriman and Warren Road. Really glad I accepted the Paint-n-Sip invite hosted by Laurel. I think we painted many iterations 'Lillie's in a Pond.' lol There's also 'Arting at the Farmhouse' painting events monthly. Pondering if you should come appreciate a bit of swish? Just so you know from door bell to entrance a good time and very welcoming. Deets....Room was large in size, well lit and with about six (6) tables in the Grand Parlor. Seats up to great elbow-room, persons to a table. EVEN an neighboring- annual Garden Show nearby. Looking for unique and living quarters - history find. Built to last and has that 'Back to the Future' essence with some general store classic collectibles. Come check out their over-the-year's finds. Catch some of the hosted events and peak around. Till next brush.

An old friend of mine from high school volunteers here and invited me over in mid-November to see…read morethe museum since he was working that day. It was great to see a high school classmate I hadn't seen in 50 years and I really enjoyed the tour around the museum, which is actually an old farmhouse from the 1830's that has been converted to show the history of Garden City including many artifacts and photographs. If you enjoy history you would appreciate this place even if you aren't from the area. I know I enjoy visiting little museums in other towns that I am not from. Each town has its own interesting history. I'll see if I can find a link to the museum that describes it. There's also a gift shop with some fun things in it if you are looking for unique presents for anyone.
