I visited Wax On, Wax Off while on vacation. Every other place in Coconut Grove was booked when my mom and I called around, so we finally came across here. It was in walking distance from our hotel (The Mayfair) so that was really convenient. The district overall is super cute and has everything you may need. We called ahead and set an appointment for two pedicures, and even confirmed before getting off the phone that they had the time to fit 2 people in. However, upon arrival only one lady was available. They immediately gave us attitude when we insisted that we needed two spots, but obliged. They don't have you sit in the big, comfy pedicure chairs either. Just regular "dining" chairs for lack of a better word, and a rolling "foot stool" to prop your feet on. For someone with hip issues, like myself, it was extremely uncomfortable having to prop one leg at a time on this foot stool that was at the height of the pedicurist's eye level. Oh yeah...make sure you don't wear a dress/skirt here. As far as soaking goes, it's just the little pedicure tub you can buy at your local Walmart. My polish was sloppy and they didn't even bother rubbing the lotion in all the way. I didn't feel like the cost matched what you get in the slightest, but after all they provided a service and I'm not one to give you $0 for your time..so I paid and went on about my day. I made a phone call yesterday to book an appointment for a pedicure. The gentleman on the line told me that they had the specific color I was asking for. Upon arrival for my appointment, I noticed they didn't have a great selection of colors at all and didn't have the original color I asked for. I wanted to walk out but I also needed a pedicure. I sat down and decided to go with a different color even though it's not what I wanted and endured a painful, I non relaxing pedicure. No massage.. She cut my nails too short and not the best paint job. I don't know why but this place never seems to be great.. it's always just average and if you don't speak Spanish you may not get what you're looking for. Also, they don't do acrylic so don't expect to get a refill or any kind of care for your current acrylic if you have them. read more

This is my go-to waxing spot in Miami. The service is great, the establishment is clean, and I can almost always get an appointment if I call ahead (sometimes just an hour before). Lorena is amazing. She is super sweet and always makes me feel welcome. I rarely have to wait when I arrive, but if I do, she always offers me something to drink. The prices are average for Miami, but they have specials depending on the day of the week. They also do manicures and pedicures, and there is a deal on Wednesdays for a $30 mani/pedi. I love that there is free parking in the CVS parking lot (just don't leave these businesses if you park here). My only caveat with this place is that I had one bad waxing experience with the other lady (I think her name is Ana)... therefore I always request Lorena when I make an appointment. read more

It's now months later and my skin from this service is unhealed. It's too grotesque to post, but I've been experiencing an unusual amount of ingrown hairs, bumps, demarcation and my hair growth was stunted, only recently growing back. I have heard nothing from the company. As someone who had been receiving Brazilian waxes for over 10 years, I highly recommend against having your service done at this establishment. read more

Appt was last week Wednesday, sept 6th... Two stars - one star for mani and one star for pedi. Where do I begin..? I went for facial wax and thought "oh, wow, mani/pedi in the same place is a bonus!" Boy, was I wrong. No champagne was offered or served as other posts have suggested. My esthetician had to be woken up from her nap and told her appt had arrived. And well she must've still been asleep while waxing my brows bc one side was shorter than the other and two completely different shapes! In the end, I paid for two adult mani, two little girl polish only, one adult pedi, brow and chin wax with a free lip wax. Cost me $100 (tip included for both women) and a lifetime of pix from our family trip to serve as a reminder to never return to Wax on Wax off and that a Wednesday special isn't worth inexperienced workers. I've been to many places in and out of miami and I've never had a worse experience... well maybe once before at an Asian salon where the guy burned my lip. Erica is fast, merciless, and accurate. She is also funny, charming, and nice. All of these attributes help if you're about to *willingly*(!!!) put yourself through this particularly 21st century form of torture (honestly, I don't remember Brazilians being a big deal when I was a teen). The mimosas the good ladies at Wax On Wax Off hand you the moment you walk in the door help a bit, but I would also suggest: self-hypnotism 3 valiums and some E total anesthesia Lacking those, simply grin--or cry, whatever gets you through this--and bear it. Unlike the disaster perpetrated upon my privates at the dreadful Uni K. Wax in Mary Brickell Village, Erica will leave you as smooth and soft as the peach in their logo, after the angry red welts fade away, of course. There's parking in the CVS lot behind the salon, so you're not quite so hampered by the blinding tears of pain flowing from your eyes as you hobble to your car. read more

Since Angie at SOBE Body Wax, Co. no longer works there I decided to try this place because of its rave reviews. This is the first and last time I will be there. Upon booking my appointment I was impressed by the professionalism of the receptionist. Keep reading because goes all down hill from here... The esthetician was TERRIBLE! I have never had a wax last an HOUR long. I could go months without waxing and get the job done in 20 minutes at SOBE Body Wax, Co. I was disappointed to discover the lack of skills from the esthetician. It was PAINFUL! I was praying for it to be over already. My va-jay-jay still hurts from yesterday when I got it done. After scrapping the tweezers against my skin to pluck remaining hairs there were still hairs that she missed. Throughout the entire process it felt messy. The esthetics's gloves were sticking all over. Then, she put some liquid that stung it felt like rubbing alcohol, but not quite as intense of a sting from rubbing alcohol. Since each wax room's wall is not connected to the ceiling everything can be heard. Now, if it was just normal conversations that went on I would not mind, but the staff was using some profanity in their conversations. When I was asked about my experience. I told the receptionist about the unpleasantness and she had the audacity to say: "Oh well, it's the end of the day." End of the day?! I do not care if I am the first or last client I expect a high level of professionalism and expertise from the staff and most especially the esthetics's. I payed $55 with the hope of exceptional customer service and I was beyond disappointed. My loyalty to a place is due to the professionalism and customer service. I started coming here thanks to a LivingSocial deal but have become a faithful customer because of the excellent job they do. Janine was my first Wax On Wax Off specialist and she does a wonderful job. Her schedule had to be reduced during her pregnancy and around that time I started going to Sandra, who has to be the FIRST wax specialist that can manage to remove ALL my stubborn leg hairs. Not to knock any one, because I am fully aware that it is my odd combination of fair sensitive skin with coarse dark hair that makes this task virtually impossible, but Sandra is the leg hair whisperer. Ohmigosh, I was in shock the first time and when I returned to see her a second time there was a suspicion deep down that it was a fluke, but she has consistently left my as legs smooth as a baby tushie and it lasts for weeks! They also have a rewards program, so every time you spend $$ you are earning points towards getting $$ off a service. First of all, if you are parking in this lot -do NOT leave the property. I recently learned the hard way, the company that owns it will boot your car. I walked to the post office for literally a minute and was fined $90. Learn from me: these guys are relentless!!! As for Wax On Wax Off, I had been going back and forth about what to rate this place but I've come to the conclusion that this place is truly average. It is above average, however, if you are looking for a nail salon in the Grove- only because the only other one I've found is more like a one- or two-star kind of place. I came here a few times in college for waxing services and it was not bad. They use hard wax, which I prefer, but I have since found European Wax Center and prefer that mostly because they are more likely to be able to take an appointment with less than a day's notice. Wax On Wax Off is small - I think there are just three little waxing rooms. The two manicure/ pedicure spots are in the middle of the main room and the client sits in essentially a desk chair to have their services done. It is not the most relaxing setting but serves its purpose. My main issue has been since it is so small, if you want a service you have to plan ahead. While they accept walk ins, they often do not have someone available. I find this to be especially true for their day off specials. I have tried to take advantage of discounted mani/pedis on Wed/Thursday twice -- and both time was told there was only time to do one service and therefore would not get the deal. Not an awful option if you're in the area, but there are plenty of other salons/ wax centers in the area that are better. read more

Since the Uni-K across the street from me closed down, I've been hopping around to various places like Goldilocks trying to find a new wax salon. Wax On Wax Off is probably one of the most professional waxing salons I've ever visited. Upon arrival I was offered water or champagne while I filled out a detailed questionnaire. I even had to sign a waiver of liability. The esthetician was very clinical and professional. At first I was disappointed to discover that they used the kind of wax that requires the paper strips. My past experience has been that the paper strips are more painful in the delicate nether regions. But the esthetician was skilled and I didn't feel much pain at all. The whole operation was very fast and efficient. I was in and out of the salon in less than 20 minutes. The champagne, professional staff, short drive from home and the fact that it is open on Sunday make it likely that I will return. Sometimes my loyalty to a place (like Uni-K) is due to the technique and demeanor of one person in particular. I didn't feel a great connection with my esthetician here, but I like the work that she did. It was pricier than what I pay for the same services at Uni-K. read more

This location has only been open a month. I drive by it at least two times a day, trekking between home and work and thought I was well over due to get my lip waxed. I usually take care of it at home with my own professional hot wax heater, but it broke so I thought I would give it a try. I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon to find the place deserted, but open. The hostess was very friendly and kind. I filled out a starter questionnaire and was offered chilled water. The lady who did my waxing didn't have eyebrows herself (they were penciled in), but she did a thorough and excellent job. She was very friendly and easy to talk to. The premises were very clean and professional. The waiting area had chilled water and a nice homemade soap display (smelled GREAT) and there were at least three private rooms for the waxing. Inside the rooms, you were instructed to lax on a massage table, covered in a soft sheet and encouraged to close your eyes and rest. After the waxing was done, and the lavender oil applied, I was very relaxed. I didn't want to leave. The first time you go in, you get 15% off and they have a frequent user program. I'm not really sure why this place has 4 stars. It's pretty bad. I've been about 5 times so I feel comfortable reviewing and reporting that they are consistently pretty bad. For a $60 brazilian I expect not one straggler, ESPECIALLY not multiple. I thought maybe it was just a one or two time mishap and figured because they were so nice and got good reviews that I would keep trying. but it was a mistake. this place is consistently bad and expensive. This review is for the nail salon part of this salon as that is the only service I have used here so far: I was kind of stressed because I was running late and didn't want to miss my appointment. The woman on the phone was very accommodating and allowed me to come in a bit later. When I finally arrived I found parking in the back of the store. In Miami 50% of stress while doing errands is looking for parking. This was a huge deal. Upon arrival I was greeted with a choice of beverages including Champagne or Mimosa. I then had a gel manicure with regular pedicure. (a Dealtificate deal) What I loved about this place is that they have matching polishes for both so that you can choose the color from the (Jessica brand) bottle, then they match it to the gel polish perfectly. Maria was very skilled. She turned my chipped cracked nails into a beautiful work of art. I felt very relaxed during my mani/pedi as well as with the staff who work there. Tiely is the best here, hands down. I've tried the other girls and they're good, but Tiely is the most thorough, sanitary and efficient. She has a fan going, so the wax doesn't burn you. She wears a surgical mask so you don't feel self-conscious when she's 2 inches away from your goodies. And that's how close she gets to hand pluck every last hair that the wax missed. I have black hair on brown skin, so it's easy to overlook a few. But after Tiely, I never get home to discover strays. WoWo is a bit more expensive than other places, but well worth the price I think. They have groupons/dealtificates/etc pretty regularly, so keep an eye out for those! read more

Arriving for my appointment a little early, I had time to enjoy a Mimosa. Erica greeted me after I filled out the customer card. I am an esthetician and do a lot of waxing so I am always very picky. Erica used a great technique for my full leg wax and regular bikini wax and completed them in less than a half hour. I loved it! They use a wax that is very gentle.
