Overall I've been going to Potbelly since 2002 starting back in Chicago. See the attached picture and tell me if you think this is acceptable Mac and Cheese? Beyond it being runny, the noddles were not cooked. Don't serve this. I'd rather hear, sir it'll be another 20 minutes before the Mac and Cheese is ready. You think trying to serve this to a 3 year old is acceptable? I had the Italian which was fine so no complaints there. They try to make amends by offering a cookie and gave me a coupon for a free sandwich or salad. Like I said historically no major issues here beyond 1-2 times they forget the bottled water or applesauce for kids combo meal. I think maybe I'll stick to coming here on the weekdays.

We searched Yelp and decided on a different place, however on the way to that place we saw Guthrie's. We could see there were people inside and were intrigued. We continued to our original location however we weren't impressed and everyone in the vehicle unanimously decided we needed to try Guthrie's. When you open the door you immediately smell the chicken. It reminds me of another chain whose name I won't mention, but this is 10 times better. The chicken tenders are flavorful, the fries are hot and crispy and the staff is friendly. I love that they have their history on the wall. 65 years in business and I see why. Highly recommend.

The burger was juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a smashburger, and the wings were really good too. I also like the thoughtful touch of them giving you disposable gloves so your hands don't get messy while eating -- small thing, but much appreciated. The food here is consistently good, which is why we keep coming back. The only thing I've found a little inconsistent is the mint lemonade. Sometimes it's great, other times I wish I'd skipped it. That said, the food itself is always on point. Service is really good too, so I'm only taking one star off for the lemonade.

I went there today to pick up an order I placed through Uber Eats. Usually, when you pick up an Uber Eats order yourself, they don't require a verification code. However, when I went to the front and gave my name to the cashier, she asked if I had proof of the order. I told her no, as I had ordered on my computer and didn't have a code. She insisted she needed verification. My phone wasn't working at the moment, which I don't blame her for, but the way she handled the situation was incredibly frustrating. I waited 20 minutes before I actually got my food. The cashier stood there talking on her phone, claiming she needed to ask her manager, but she never actually did. I didn't hear her explain the situation or ask anyone for help. Instead, she just stayed on her phone and eventually slid the food over to me. There was no apology for the wait, no "here you go," and no "have a nice day." She just slid it over with a smile while still chatting on her phone. It felt like she was purposely inconveniencing me. As soon as I mentioned that I had my ID to prove who I was, it was suddenly no issue, and she handed it over without ever checking with a manager. Very disappointing experience. While the food itself still tastes good, it is simply no longer worth the money or the poor treatment. I never expected over the top, bubbly customer service, the staff that used to work here would just get the job done without the fake enthusiasm, and that was perfectly fine. But there is a massive difference between a worker just trying to get through their shift and one who actively goes out of their way to keep you waiting while talking on the phone. Between the disrespectful service and the shrinking portions, this place just isn't what it used to be.

However, every once in a while, I find myself in a region that might have them and although there are only 3 in Florida, there is one near my son's campus...well, nearish...now I have a reason to come see him more often :) I don't understand why everyone feels compelled to give such low scores to fast food joints. I get it...they are run down, they are greasy, employees are rude...but employees change out every 6 months, the greasy food is why we are here, it's fast...other things suffer. They operate on tight margins...they get used heavily...of course the building is going to look a bit used. At the end of the day, I'm here for those greasy little sliders.
