The announcement of a local Wawa in town made me very happy. After a heavily anticipated wait, they finally opened in late January 2013, but this is not the best Wawa location I have been to. Their store is clean and they're well-stocked with the Wawa essentials, but it isn't very spacious and the layout of the store doesn't optimize flow of people when it gets busy. The register is far off in the corner of the restaurant, food & drinks are scattered along the back wall. I do love coming here for their gas though (24/7 pumps going all day every day). I swear Wawa-brand gas just gets your car running further. I used to have to fill up 2x a week to get me where I needed to go in a week - I only need to do that once when I fill up w/ Wawa's gas. read more

This may be the farthest North Wawa along the NJ Turnpike (just off Exit 15W). As such it is rapidly becoming a fixture on my trips to New England and back. It's either my last chance to get my fix on the way up or my first chance to get it after a few days away. A quick review of my check-ins will show you I have a Wawa addiction. 6 different Wawa's in 1 day ... yup that's happened. I just wish this one had been open when I still had Giants Season Tickets. I'm pleased more Wawa locations are opening up here in North NJ. Yet what I do not like is the lack of Customer service from the employees preparing the food. I've visited the Kearny location of Wawa a couple times. You have am employee making the drinks by the name of Scotty. Not sure if he's new or not but he's not only slow but has zero people skills! Retraining is in order, if not putting him in stocking would be best. When I patronize businesses I EXPECT friendly helpful people serving me. As I have worked in the service industry amongst other customer service based industries for YEARS. So I'm not speaking as a snob but rather someone who has been on both sides. Um this Wawa sucks! I grew up in South Jersey where Wawas are plentiful (very unlike North Jersey) and this may just be the worst 1 I've ever been to. It's always understaffed. The employees are slow and unprofessional and absolutely couldn't care less. Went late and ordered a latte. This took FOREVER. The 1 person behind the counter seemed to only be making the food items that were ordered (even those ordered after my latte). My friend wanted some regular coffee...there was none...in the 5 coffee containers. So she also had to wait for them to be refilled. Considered getting a donut so I walk over to the full case...and see fruit flies crawling all over the donuts. Gross! Finally got my latte and ran! read more

Chicken corn chowder soup is great. I havent had a bad soup from here yet! The sandwiches are freshly made and the lattes are even better than Dunkin Donuts! They have so much stuff here that you will walk out with a grocery bag full of junk food or just random stuff. The service is great and the people are nice. This experience at wawa was made horrible by the disgusting staff working. I went to ask the employee making sandwiches a question, Kayla was her name, and she was very disrespectful in her response and tone. I have worked in customer service for over 10 years and have never spoken to a customer the way this woman did. On top of that my order was prepared wrong and given I was given no receipt. I will be sure to call headquarters and the general manager. Kayla desperately needs more training in her customer service skills and if she is not able to politely speak to customers she needs to seek employment elsewhere. As Wawa's go, this one is sub-par. That being said, its still a Wawa so its a great spot to go and a welcome addition to the area. The food and coffee is definitely up to their high standards which make give it quality points. Unfortunately, the store's setup and layout leaves little to be desired and for one which might seem spacious upon entering, it lacks many options. Their small "aisles" carry relatively little to no merchandise or choices. Then again I guess even a mediocre Wawa is better than no Wawa at all. read more

I love the Wawa near me. Maybe I'm spoiled but this Wawa needs serious reorganization and better staff. No one looked like they wanted to be there. They seem inconvenienced when working. No smiles like at my Wawa in Avenel. I ordered 3 subs and asked nicely if i could have them cut in 4's. The employee looked at me and said "sorry, no I can't". I was dumbfounded. I have only been to this location for fuel and I since I drive for work, I'm here often. The fuel attendants in the AM are quick and efficient. They know my fuel card by site and enter my info promptly. The PM fuel attendants are hit or miss. Sometimes they are off smoking, texting or doing whatever. They aren't as familiar with fuel cards, but always figure it out. This is a good spot to get gas quick and get back on the road. read more

I'm from Central Jersey but work overnights close to this Wawa. This Wawa is totally understaffed. I've seen the gas attendant/cashier/pretzel wrapper also cleaning the parking lot. One girl makes coffee, wipes the counters, mops, and works the register. So I feel bad when I need to ask if there are anymore tea bags or cream. I still come here everyday on my lunch break. But, it's just too busy of a wawa to be run with a skeleton crew. read more

I'm a philly transplant so I've been to dozens of wawa in my lifetime. This one is the worst of them all. Every time I come here they are out of something I came in for. The line is always halfway out the door and they rarely open a second line. I don't think I've ever waited less than 20 minutes for a deli sandwich. Im giving them 3 starts because the food is pretty good, but the staff that makes it, isnt. Theyve messed up my breakfast order the past 3 times ive been there. As a former south jersey resident I was so excited that a wawa was in the location of my new apartment. We went here to get hoagies and we were pretty disappointed. They were OK but nothing compared to south jersey wawas. You could tell the hoagie was kind of thrown together without much care. It's great that wawa is expanding to north jersey but they need to instill the great qualities of a wawa in their employees. They're so popular in south jersey because of their consistency. Wow I'm very disappointment at this wawa location and definitely won't be coming back here for a latte for the second time I get a "dulce de leche" late and it tastes like regular ice coffee this is the second time this happens and I'm pretty sure it's because of this black lady that works there she has an ugly attitude and doesn't seem like she wants to be there by the way she works and even gave an attitude about making a sandwich for a customer which is basically your job so if you don't want to do it don't fucking work simple as that and this latte issue just happened as I'm writing 3:51am if anyone wants to come here for a latte or any cold drink don't come at this time because most likely this lady will be there and your drink won't taste nothing like what you paid for smh very upset read more
