The actual insurance company is called Co Plus. They did everything they possibly could to delay making payment and fought us over every penny. It took months to get anything from them. It cost us over 6000 pounds to put the property back into lettable condition. Yet, they insisted that the tenants deposit was used to cover the unpaid rent that the insurers are liable for. The property was a disaster area. The cleaning contractors filled up two 6 cubic yard skips. Co Plus claimed that the majority of the cleaning they was "normal end of tenancy cleaning" They even refused to acceppt that the deposit could be used to pay for the skips. The insurers were really horrible people to deal with. The rent protection insurance product is is not fit for purpose. Please do not waste your money. Do not take any notice of the reviews on the paid for reputation management websites - its very difficult to post a bed review on those!

Also please be very careful as they have unfair terms in their policy, so it is will be virtually IMPOSSIBLE for you to have a "valid" claim. Can I urge all those who have also been mis-sold a policy to put a bad review about them to warn others and report them to the Financial Ombudsman and Trading Standards, as they should be heavily fined by the FSA.
