Drew stressed safety and respect for the firearms and the rules of the range. In the end a I was able to shoot a few 9mm and a few rifles. All my fear is conquered and I can't wait to do it again!

He is an absolutely amazing teacher--gun expertise is a given (he has it across the board), but patience and flexibility aren't--and he has those as well, in spades. In a matter of weeks I went from not being able to hold a gun (and being pretty frightened on the range) to developing solid fundamentals and leaving with much greater comfort with both the gun itself and the range. He is the best teacher for beginners (and probably fo more advanced shooters as well); I would highly recommend him to anyone, especially for private instruction!

He explained complex laws and essential safety practices in a clear, engaging, and easy-to-understand manner. His ability to break down important information, answer questions, and make the material approachable for beginners made the class especially valuable. I left feeling much more informed and confident in my understanding of responsible firearm ownership. I highly recommend Mark's class to anyone looking to gain knowledge and obtain certification.

No one in the Class wanted to leave when it was completed. Will be enjoying other opportunities from CDI in the very near future.

Since my training, I am more educated on self-defense laws, have my conceal carry training certificate and feel comfortable going to the range by myself to shoot my personal firearm. The instructor helped me choose my first firearm that I fit my needs. I recommend Trouble Defense to anyone. From individuals not comfortable with firearms to experienced people that want to sharpen their skills. As a result of my awesome experience, I plan to continue to use their services!

While I am a member of IWLA's ARL-FFX chapter, I gotta say that the NRA HQ Shooting range is not a…read morebad place for me to shoot now and then. Especially since the pistol and rifle ranges at my club are outdoors, it's convenient to come here when it's super windy or super rainy. You don't have to be an NRA member to shoot here, but you do get a discount. Also, there are no gun rentals at this range -- if you wanna shoot, bring your own firearms. They also have range rules on what ammo you can shoot, and they will check your ammo before they assign you a range. Thankfully, they have ammo for sale if your ammo isn't shootable at the range, and/or you forgot your ammo. If it's your first time coming to the range, you will be required to take a range safety test (if you're an average shooter with common sense, it's nearly impossible to fail unless you're intentionally trying to fail). Once you pass, you get a range card that you have to pay for, but once you buy it, you never have to pay again (unless you misplace it). Also, ladies: I recommend coming out on Thursday night! Not only do you get a discount on your range reservation, but you also get a free range card on your first visit! All in all, the NRA HQ range is great. As long as you follow the rules, it is not a bad place to shoot.

They have a lot of members from all walks of life, from hunters to law enforcement, casual target shooters to dedicated competitors. Despite recent pressures from Maryland legislation, Berwyn's membership remains strong and may even be growing larger as one of the few venues people can use for their hobby or career. The range itself is set in the woods of rural Bowie. Admittedly, it looks more like a Boy Scouts camp than a major high-tech range, but that's part of its charm. They have three "no sky" ranges, meaning there are baffles set to block any stray bullets that do not head down the range. A 50 foot, a 50 yard, and a 100 yard allow people to use whatever they need for their chosen firearms. As an outdoor range, you can expect to deal with weather and climate as well as insect life. I always check the forecast before deciding to head out there. As a private range, this is not accessible to the general public. To gain access you must send an e-mail asking about membership. Within a month, you will know if you are approved to join (I've never known anyone to be turned down). After that, you have access to the range, but must remember to follow all range rules, including proper safety, avoiding damage to the range, and cleaning up after yourself. If you're into firearms, for anything from hunting to marksmanship, and looking for a good range in the Prince George's and Arundel area, then I recommend looking into this place. Go to their website and check them out!
