Despite being not all that far from me, I've never been to the Watford Colosseum.
We had tickets to see Katherine Ryan (side note - her Glitter Room tour is made up of a LOT of stuff that's already in the Netflix special). They were really reasonably priced, like £15 each, so off we went.
Now the lost star is because without a car, it's a palaver to get here. It's a 15 or 20 minute walk from either Watford tube or Watford Junction station. We took an Uber from Watford tube and it was £5.
Inside the Colosseum is, supposedly, a restaurant and a place with bar-type food. We didn't come across these but did quickly find what they called street food, which was a guy in a street food tent inside the building selling fish & chips, chicken strips & chips, and chicken curry with rice. The chips were actually really good and it was only like £6.50 for a large portion of chips with some fish. There were plenty of places to sit and eat and the time passed quickly before the auditorium opened.
We had stalls tickets which were chairs on a flat floor, but the stage is raised so there was no problem seeing. It definitely has a school vibe, and felt like being at the strangest assembly ever. There is also seating that's raked behind the stalls.
Overall though, I could see and hear well. Tickets were a good price. Food was good (relatively) and affordable. Seats were perfectly comfortable. With the exception of the location (there is a pay & display car park adjacent, though) it was a good night.
It's definitely on our radar now and we're back to see Sarah Millican in May, and looking forward to it! read more
