Boswells Pool Plastering

Early this year we had trouble locating a local business in Florence willing to resurface our large…read moregunite pool, recoat our concrete deck and replace our water slide which would now be 29 years old. The original plaster had finally worn away in numerous spots and we began to have difficulty controlling pool chemistry and experienced a couple of green algae blooms this past spring. We expanded our search area and had a couple of pool plastering companies from the Myrtle Beach area interested, with Boswell's seeming the best equipped, including being a Pebble Tec certified installer. The business owner Anthony Boswell talked and texted often through the process. We took about 3 weeks of discussion to finalize our plan which included using Pebble Tec's Pebble Sheen in Cool Blue for the new pool surfacing and the Pebble Tec Lightscapes Renaissance in Peacock for the large amount of tiling needed. Boz and crew started work about 3 weeks after we paid our deposit. The total time from work start to completion was about 8 weeks and within our expectations. Time factors included the size of the pool (60' x 18' with an attached 24' semicircular wading area), copious amounts of tile including large lane marker tile rows and four additional tile rows on the perimeter of the large wading area steps, shorter working days for the crews due to 3 hours of travel each day, several weather delays and two weeks of grinding the old deck coating and doing small repairs prior to recoating. The crews worked hard, kept the area clean, removed all waste materials and seemed to have great attitudes. We just finished the first week of the 28 day new pool startup process to optimize the Pebble Tec curing including daily brushings and daily tweaking of the new pool chemistry. The pool results are spectacular! The Pebble Sheen surface becomes a little more colorful each day as the residual plaster dust is brushed off of the aggregates. And the Peacock glass tiles - beautifully iridescent! We are in love with our pool again! This was not an inexpensive project, particularly by selecting premium materials, but the value to us is high and we are very satisfied with the end result. Kudos to Boz and his crew!! *Updated 10/21/2025 with photos.

I would not hire Boswells Pool Plastering and Restoration again…read more We spent a significant amount of money to have our pool refinished and have dealt with problems with the plaster surface for more than two years. We paid for an additional corrective treatment, went through multiple attempts to fix the problem, and have now drained and refilled the pool three times. The problem keeps returning, and the finish is noticeably less vibrant after the corrective treatments. What has been equally disappointing is how Anthony handled the problem. He became dismissive and argumentative, brushed off our concerns, and has been difficult to get responses from. He blamed water chemistry, despite our pool being professionally maintained, but never provided a technical evaluation establishing that as the cause. After more than two years, multiple corrective attempts, additional expense and considerable inconvenience, the problem is still unresolved. Our latest request for help, sent in August, has gone unanswered. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Boswells Pool Plastering and Restoration.

He agreed to pay another company to fix the damage his company caused then write them a bad check. Left me with cut pipes, swamp like pool, and 30k cost to repair! The address of his "business " was a vape shop (now vacated with a bakery next door ) , he had no proper business license and ignores all attempts to rectify situation informally. Don't get taken in; do your research and go elsewhere for pool service.

What really impressed me, though, was the service after the sale. About three months later, I had a filter that was extremely tight and I couldn't get it loosened. Mike, the technician, came back out to my house and took care of it for me. He was extremely helpful, professional, and made sure everything was working properly before he left. It's easy to provide good service when making a sale, but how a company treats you afterward says a lot more. Mike and the team demonstrated that they truly stand behind their products and take care of their customers long after the purchase. I really appreciate the service and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a hot tub or spa.

Not just because we bought our pool and hot tub from Hydra, but because they consistently have the best service. Mike, their service technician, responded quickly to our concern. He came out and was on time. Unfortunately, that morning, an animal decided to go for a swim and didn't make it out alive. Due to this, we had to reschedule and Mike made it a priority to get back over ASAP - once we shocked the pool! He came again, on time and prepared and fixed the pool. Right in time for the last day of school! Thank you Hydra - Thank you Mike
