My masseuse was very nice and asked what I wanted to focus on which is pretty typical to ask but a few here and there don't really ask and or if they do they don't really focus on that area but she did. I'm disappointed in my experience today. I wanted a deep tissue massage. What I did not want was to be slathered with lotions that I wasn't aware would be a part of the package and whose smells would last after a shower. I called for the appointment. I described wanting deep tissue. Apparently to that means I want the "Deep Therapeutic Massage". They use "warming deep tissue lotion". This was not explained over the phone. The lotion was not warming. It had arnica and menthol which left my skin cold. I could not enjoy the massage because of the distraction. Even after my LMT wiped it off I could still feel it on my inside of my arms. After that they used a different lotion. Apparently this is scented with cloves. I like cloves to a small degree but even after my shower I smell it in my hair and skin. My LMT didn't notice or read my paperwork. I circled areas I wanted work on but then had to repeat myself in the room. Instead of confirming what I already wrote it was starting from scratch. I also circled adding hot stones. When I asked them to stop using the cooling lotion I had to ask if they were going to use the stones. Overall I'm extremely disappointed. What was supposed to be a nice treat ended up making me feel like I wasted time and money. I had to stop myself from being emotional and walking out. When I checked out they took off the extra charge for the "warming" lotion. I didn't complain then because I didn't want to be tearful in public. I'm just so terribly disappointed. So be weary if you're sensitive to smells and make sure they know what you want when you go. The atmosphere was nice. The staff were super friendly. All I could muster when they asked me how it was was "okay". I'm not naming the LMT because I don't blame him. I'm just sad and disappointed. read more

Donica is a skilled and talented masseuse. I went to get help for back pain with nerve pain radiating down my leg and in a few weeks she was able to relieve all the pain. I was able to go walk 100miles on the Camino in Spain without any pain at all. The SPA is really well appointed and clean. Tea, infused water and a friendly staff. What a lovely surprise this place is. Very bright, clean, relaxing. The atrium where you wait for your massage therapist is so neat. We each got a 90 min massage and enjoyed them very much. Today we made a visit, we had Christian and Steve - they were wonderful! We both got 60 mins of the Swedish massage. Christian- First great communication kept checked in with me, asked about spots that needed attention, and asked how pressure was during massage. My first massage and I felt comfortable (so comfortable I almost fell asleep!) and relaxed. Very respectful and made me feel comfortable. My favorite part was the release of tension of my shoulders front and back. The spa was super clean, very friendly reception ladies, AC was nice, and the room in which massage happened was also perfect. Shoes, robe, lockers were all so nice! I never felt rushed, they showed us around and we had the whole place to ourself. I would recommend! Steve- Best massage! I have had a few massages but nothing like this. The spa was so cute and perfectly located (parking nearby). We arrived at 10:40 am for our 11 am appointment, it said to arrive 15 mins prior however they didn't open until 11 am. I was worried we were considered late, but we were not. Just FYI if you book at 11 am, just be there 5 mins before. The place was wonderful! So quaint and cute inside, greeted very nicely. We had a locker and everything set up prior to getting massage. Steve was very professional and welcoming-happy to take in any information I had regarding spots needing attention. I got a Swedish massage however on the spots I let him know that needed attention he applied the perfect pressure and helped release stress. The lotion/oil used was perfect on my skin and was very light. I have sensitive skin and had no reactions and my skin honestly has not felt this smooth and clean in a while. I felt like the message was constant ocean waves hitting all areas needing attention. Thank you Steve! The best! After I took a refreshing shower-they offer combs and other lotions afterwards. From the moment I stepped foot into the building I was relaxed. They provide you with robes and shoes in the locker room. In the locker room you will also find lockers to store your items, 2 sinks with mirrors, 2 showers with high end hair and body products, and all the things you need to freshen up. Well, how should I put this? They don't have robes for a person my size. Or they said they do but they "had a person like you already today, so.... [nervous frowny face]" The staff aren't at fault here, but they should definitely ask the manager/owners to invest in enough robes so that when beautifully fat goddesses like myself come in for a paid service, we can do it. Like humans. And not like our bodies are an affront to the world and a surprise to the spa industry. You know, since 2/3 of Americans are overweight or obese. The staff here was very accommodating. This was my first time to a day spa so I didn't fully know what to expect. As we entered the spa, the ambiance was calming w music playing, sounds of running water (people showering), etc. The hostess showed us around, and the one woman who greeted us first and helped us sign in even asked our shoe size to prepare our locker spaces w slippers for us. Although that is one less thing they could have done and had us, customers, find slippers on our own, I thought that that one detail was a nice customer service to be acknowledged and appreciated. We each had a locker assigned... w slippers and robes on, we went to the steam room before our massages. The steam room is amazing. So good! Off to our massages, both masseuses were kind and greeted us. As our massages proceeded, they asked several times if pressure was OK. There wasn't a lot of talking but rather just breathing. The guy massaging my yancé threw me off a bit when he continuously would say, "Yes." But my yancé reassured me that he's heard plenty of massage therapists do this, as they're connecting spiritually and releasing. Okay!... I guess I can get it. That's cool. After our massages, I went back to the steam room then showered. I went over/pass their closing time but no one seemed to rush me but rather expressed their gratitude. Again, to me, that goes a long way because I was trying to be considerate and wasn't going to go to the steam room again w 15-mins before they closed. The salon and spa are no longer run by the same company. You'll notice all the spa reviews are awesome, ignore the salon reviews and book a treatment at the spa. The salon is different independent contractors so it just depends on who you get. I've been to the spa a few times a year for several years now for facials and massages. I love the historical feel of the spa and the complimentary sauna/steam with the treatments. All my spa technicians have been great. I really love the girlfriends getaway where you get a facial, massage, and lunch over a few hours. It's a great way to relax with friends. I also took my boyfriend once and even he (a spa hater) really liked it. read more

I moved to the area last year from San Francisco and I'm happy that beauty and wellness spaces are now open again! I had a sugar waxing service with Carolina and it was wonderful. Gentle and very efficient. It's challenging to find high quality esthetician's who work well with sugar wax. I find Sugar wax to be so much more gentle then traditional waxing. I also love the spa as a whole! The first moment I walked in I felt life roll off my back and relaxation set in. The space is lovely, I live a few doors down on Main Street and I was impressed by how quiet it was in the space- a true oasis in downtown Ashland. I found prices to be on point given the quality of Eco- friendly clean beauty products the work with in their services and every person I came in contact with was warm and welcoming- it was impressive- it seems the staff really like where they work which makes for a sweet caring client experience. We decided that while we were childless in Ashland that we should make the most of it. Matt wanted a massage and I really wanted a luxurious spa pedicure. We thought that the spa affiliated with the Ashland Springs would be the best option, so we walked across the street and climbed the long stairs to the Waterstone SPA where we inquired about pedicure and massage services. Well it turns out that the Waterstone SALON is where nails are done and it is downstairs and around the corner. Since Matt and were trying to coordinate our treatments so that we could get dinner afterward, we asked if the lady upstairs could call downstairs. She did and gave us several times, since we were seeing a play that afternoon we selected the last time 5:00pm. We booked Matt's massage, and then to our surprise, instead of her calling downstairs and booking my service, she told us to walk downstairs and do it ourselves. O-kay. Thus began the drama, we walked downstairs and into the salon, where the not-very-friendly receptionist informed us that there was no 5pm appt available. When we pointed out that we had just called from the spa she stared at us blankly and then said, her technician left at 6pm so the last appt they booked was 4pm. That seems and excessive amount of time to block out for a pedicure but O-kay. So then we needed to inform the Spa that we might have to cancel Matt's massage if we couldn't find another place with an appt open for me. Instead of calling upstairs for us, the receptionist directed us to walk upstairs... again. The receptionist upstairs blinked at us and said that they definitely had told her that appt was open. She had nothing constructive to offer, and couldn't recommend a spa open later. I couldn't face the up-down-up-down stair motion that might be required should I want a facial and a manicure. If any place ever needed a more modern booking system it is this place. Matt did end up having a massage after finding me an open appointment at the Blue Giraffe across town, but the only emotions I experienced at Waterstone were frustration and disbelief. This is not the service I expect from a high-end spa. read more

I've never really been to a full on spa before and definitely not to a steamroom - so I do not know about the sharing/not sharing issues - luckily the girls I came with were the only ones there. This is one of the nicest places I've been to. I get a brazillian done usually. In the past I've only been waxed with hard or soft wax. I had heard someone say you can get a brazillian using sugaring inside. At the time I had no idea what that was, so I looked up places that did sugaring and that's how I met Kelly. She is amazing!!! She makes you feel super comfortable and makes sure you know everything she's doing. She educates on good ways to maintain the service you got done. She is unbelievably fast but also provides a superb experience. I used to think getting a brazillian was kind of painful and I'd always get ingrown hairs. It was so frustrating, until I met Kelly. I haven't had one single issue since going to her and I feel amazing every time. I won't see anyone else now to get a brazillian. a group of five of us went to waterstone and had an absolutely pleasant and relaxing time. we all got the foot soak/scrub and massage, which was about 30 minutes, and was a very reasonable $40. the room was warm, and inviting, as were our technicians. i also loved the jurlique products they used. everything was amazingly soothing. from the foot soak /scrub and massage, were able to use their steam room and sauna for as long as we wanted. i don't know how long we spent in there, but it was great, and my skin looked so glowy afterwards! steam and sauna rooms usually make one pretty sweaty, so we utilized their posh "locker room" afterwards. again, there were lovely jurlique products, fresh towels and robes, and even toothbrushes and razors at our disposal! altogether, a five star worthy experience! read more

Had a pedi here. It was below average. Polish turned out pretty but the technician barely scrubbed callouses and left dirt under my nails, old polish on my toes and gave a really weak massage. For $50 I would expect better than the quick and cheap $25 salons. This was actually worse. read more
