I'm sorry to have read the other reviews that were negative. I had the exact opposite experience…read more Jay was a really great guy--he was very accessible and helpful. His family was there for the summer to help out, and they were so kind and friendly--very personable. This is a family-operated cabin "campsite" that is perfect for a great blend of comfort and "roughing it." The amenities are basicallly this: beds/bunks to sack out it, gorgeous lakes to fish in, a boat that comes with the cabin rental (motor not included), TV, community fire pit, full kitchen, and bathrooms :) nothing fancy like indoor pools or high-speed internet--it's a great place to get out and just enjoy pure nature! I feel so refreshed after staying here...ahhh... There are paddle boats and skis to use. My dog was welcome; in fact, there were a few camp dogs that belonged to the family--all very friendly and trained. The cabins are all set up close to each other, far enough to be private, but close enough to feel like a friendly community. Be prepared to get to know the other guests--it seems like those who go to Jay's are all super-friendly people who love and respect nature. Word of advice: take your own towels for showering and cleaning, and (if you go in the summer) take bug spray and sunscreen! The office sells ice and s'mores fixings, bug spray and sunscreen, and fish bait. They also have TONS of board games to borrow while you stay. *We stayed in cabin 9.

Great little resort, we had a blast there. Fun for kids, great for fishing, reasonably priced boat…read morerentals and beautiful surroundings. Be sure to bring towels, toiletries and toilet paper. Laundry room onsite, as well as a sauna. Plenty of things to do nearby, as well, but we were perfectly content staying at the resort all week. Did our sightseeing by boat or kayaking. The resort owners were great, too, very nice people. ***UPDATE:*** One of resort owners, Becky, called my brother the evening after we left. She demanded a cleaning fee, because the place was a mess. Took them 2 whole hours to clean a 3 story cabin. I was among the last to leave, and know what the place looked like. All dishes were done, kitchen was cleaned up and swept. The way Becky put it, one would think we'd staged a food fight in there on the final morning. We left a few unopened packaged food items, and some produce on the kitchen table, as they wouldn't fit in the car. And, I forgot to dispose of a carton of eggs and some opened milk that was left in the fridge....as well as a six pack of beer. In any case, now I have a bad taste in my mouth. Seems like a money grabbing ploy to me. Luckily there are many other places to stay on the Cisco Chain, because we loved the area

This review is long overdue. Several years ago, we visited Boulder Junction and during our visit we…read morescheduled a guided fishing trip with Bob. We met Bob at the appointed time (early morning!) at the boat launch. I helped him launch his fishing boat into the lake and we were off. Bob is a very friendly older guy whose background was in sales, I believe. Now in retirement,he runs these fishing trips and is also involved with local government and administration. His boat is great and had everything we needed for a successful experience: poles, bait, a sonar fish finder and an aerated fish keeper for our catches. I wanted to hire a guide because I like fishing but I usually suck at it, so except for a few times it's been disappointing. Not this time. Bob knew the areas of the lakes we were on that usually had fish and put his finder to use. We caught some smaller stuff that we had to throw back. Eventually I managed to land a really nice Northern Pike and later in the day he took us to an area full of pan fish (bluegills, pumpkinseeds, etc) and we pulled in a whole bunch of them as there's no limits on them. After we were done he followed us back to our cabin and cleaned and filleted the fish for us (I knew how to do the smaller fish but would have made a mess of the pike, it's totally different). He recommended Gooch's as a place to get great fried chicken and was on his way. We did eat at Gooch's a couple days later and it was good, but we ate most of the fish over the next couple days and I've never had such delicious fish. Fresh picked is a thing for fruit and vegetables and fresh caught is a thing for fish! Anyway, if you're in the area and want a great time fishing with an experienced guide, you can't go wrong with Bob.

It was gorgeous on Lake Lac La Belle and Lake Fanny Hoe. Captain Jim definitely has a passion for fishing. He was also fun to hang out with. And Heuver is adorable. Captain Jim was particularly good with Ryan. Ryan loved the fact that he let him drive the speedboat. It was also nice that Captain Jim cleaned the fish for us, as we have no idea how to do that. When we come back to Copper Harbor next July we will definitely be hiring him again!
