What an absolute extortionate rip-off! My husband and I decided to take the children here to get int he festive spirit and when we arrived we were not disappointed, exitedly hurrying through the archway. However - once inside our excitement quickly melted!
We went straight through the fairground over to the ice-skating which was ridiculously overpriced at £5 per child and £7 per adult. We quickly ascertained (because I'm a student) that we could only afford for the children to enjoy either the skating OR the funfair. The children, dazzled by the bright lights happily chose the fairground. And so.....
We went to the ticket booth to buy toekns for the rides. I have three children, there was about ten rides and I bought 10 tokens for £15....the children only got to ride on three rides - one of which lasted about 30seconds...seriously! And cost 6 tokens for me and my two older children to ride on. SO with only 4 tokens left, the choice of rides the children could go on was very limited. My husband's and I's mood dissipated even more as the children became disappointed at only being able to ride on three rides!! There was no Chrismtas music, no cheerful Christmas figures walking around to delight the children, the ride operators were foreign and miserable and did not interact with the children at all.
After the debacle of the rides, we decided to get some food. We went to a burger van-esque contraption and ordered - one pork roll (they'd ran out of beef), one cheeseburger and three hotdogs....NO drinks and they had run out of chips. There was no prices anywhere and when I asked after ordering the food I was told my order (remember without drinks or chips at this stage) would cost a staggering £18!!!!!!!!!! These were not gold-plated hotdogs or a platinum cheeseburger and the pork was mainly gristle and fat :(
So.....we were very disappointed and thoroughly deflated after having looked forward to this all day. We swiftly walked past Santa's grotto - which at £5 a pop was dispicable! We even more swiftly walked past the sweetie grotto after I glanced a large tube of smarties priced at £2.50!!
To quickly sum up - we paid - £15 for a total of 3 rides, and £18 on three hotdogs, 1 burger and 1 roll!!
So, in all - RUBBISH! The opposite of everything a normal family would assosciate with Christmas......I honestly would not recommend it, I honestly wouldn't bother going and I certainly will not be attending next year. What an absolute rip-off. read more
