450 acres of pools and lakes where you can see a huge variety of birds of all kinds, some tame, some wild plus 'visitors' to our shores and the estuary where this centre is found. There's a small cafe which isn't bad. My only quibble is that I think this could be extended and with a more interesting menu. Otherwise, a great place to visit for all the family all year round, and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. You can hire canoes and bikes as well! read more

We visited here attending our grandsons birthday party and must say it was a lovely experience. We had a bit of trouble finding it as its a bit far off the main roads but has plenty of parking when we found it. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, feeding the ducks was a big adventure for my grandson especially as some are cheeky enough to come and eat out of your hands. Lots of ponds mean lots of mud though so wear something practical. It was a stunning area though and I can see why many people would return time and time again. read more

The National Wetlands centre Penclacwydd Llanelli is a truely beautiful area to visit. It is well signposted although if you havent been to Llanelli for a while be aware they have changed the road system. My children enjoy feeding the ducks there and you can buy feed in the centre. There are plenty of walks around there and you can spend hours and hours wandering. I do find entry a bit expensive at nearly £7 a head. The cafe whilst an excellent facility isnt as good as it could be. All in all it is a lovely afternoon out. read more

We visited the National Wetlands Centre last weekend and had a positive experience. We have a 6 month old baby and found that the baby change area and the cafe were extremely accommodating. The centre itself was well pathed and had excellent access for a pushchair. read more

The National Wetlands Centre in Llanelli offers a good day out. The centre is sign posted from Parc Trostre with brown duck signs which can be fun for children to spot along the way. The park is quite large so you can spend plenty of time wandering around the park observing the many different species of bird. There are wooden shelters situated around a large lake where you can sit quietly and observe birds in a natural habitat. The centre has a well stocked shop with a good selection of gifts, mainly bird themed as you'd expect! There is a cafe on site which was quite busy when we visited. The selection of food was acceptable and we didn't have any problem finding something we wanted. The food was tasty and a hot drink was very welcome after a long walk around the park. There is a tour available to see the hatchlings but you'll need to put your name down in advance as spaces are limited. read more

The Wetlands Centre is well worth a visit, even if you live locally. It's a lovely widespread sanctuary for the wide range of animals they have there. You can have a good, long walk around and you could spend most of the day there if you take your time. It is a bit expensive so if it's something that you're likely to want to do on a regular basis (great for keeping fit and having a bit of a de-stress) then it would be worth you purchasing the annual membership (and it's for a good cause). read more
