Entertaining bands, local…read morevendors, local eats, beautiful venue (and how grateful I was for the trees!), affordable VIP tickets with enough perks to make it worth the cost. The venue was not only scenic, but the stages were set up so that there really wasn't a bad seat in the place. Big thumbs up for that coming from a short person who always struggles to see the action at concerts and music festivals. Band highlights for me included Of Monsters and Men and Elle King. If it ended there, then it would have been a perfect day. But of course, as festivals go, there were glitches that could have been avoidable: * Adequate water. Even at 2:30 p.m. first thing inside the festival, the water line looked ominous. I filled my bottle immediately knowing that the line was only going to grow. And yes, the line grew so much that the throngs of people cut the venue in half. My second time in line, the only available water station ran out during the hottest part of the day. I saw no one handing out bottles like you claim, but I was escorted over to a hose where the first aid folks were filling bottles one at a time until a replacement water truck was set up to replace the empty station. 94.7 later claimed there were water fountains, but I don't know how they expected festival-goers to know where to find them. And those water coolers at the first aid stations? No bottle filling allowed. Knowing what Sacramento summer weather is like (100 degrees on this particular day), there should have been a better plan to keep people hydrated. More water stations and a plan to keep the water flowing, please! * No water in vs. no water out. I totally get the "no water in" rule at music festivals because of the threat of patrons sneaking in booze (especially when the festival offers free water inside), but the "no water out" rule perplexed me. Before I left, I filled my water bottle in case there was a wait to get out of the parking lot, only to be told I had to dump it before I was allowed to leave. That was a music festival first, and I've been to a lot of music festivals. Did they really think I'd gotten my hands on 30 ounces of their mediocre vodka and was about to swill it in the parking lot before a perilous joy ride back into the city? What about those folks who hoofed it a mile or more to the park entrance in a haze of dust to catch a Lyft? What about those who waited hours in their car to get out of the park? Totally unnecessary rule that likely kept liquids from those who needed it. * Lights after dark. This was my first time at Gibson Ranch County Park, and what a surprise it was to exit the concert at night, only to find that there were NO lights beyond the concert entrance. Parking lots were no longer visible. Jungle gyms were no longer visible. Picnic areas were no longer visible. Pot holes and wire fences were no longer visible either. It was so dark that as I walked to my car, I saw a shooting star (OK, that part was cool). I only found my car because I made a mental list of landmarks I had passed on the way in early in the day. I was lucky enough to have juice on my phone to power the flashlight so that I wouldn't end up tripping on anything, and I used my key fob to hear my way closer to my car. How silly it was that once I found my car, I had to circle the parking lot searching for the exit onto road leading out of the park. (Note: I left midway through Cake's set, so I bypassed the hours-long wait to exit the park.) All that said, I still think it was a decent event that's a good addition to the Sacramento scene. I'm looking forward to an even better concert experience next year.

So just walking in the door with my 3 1/2 year old was $25. We waited in line to pay with only two families in front of us. It took more than 10 minutes. The transactions are not complicated, and yet I'm in awe of the skill level in which the ladies in the front added infinite extra steps to the "I take money/you get wristbands" concept. To quote the great warrior poet Ron Burgundy, "I'm not even mad, I'm impressed." There were 5 bounce houses, some scattered hay bales, two food trucks and some scattered vendors selling WhiteLadyEtsy handycrafts. Truly, hot glueing a plastic sunflower to the top of a jar of honey with a handwritten label is the upper echelon of basic bitch home goods. LiveLaughLove, amirite? Also Batman was here for some reason. So, cool?

On top of that they had no food except for some kettle popcorn and if you pop up tents and half of their amusement stuff was deflated and not even working. We try to do what we can do but frankly it's not worth even getting into free at this place. We then proceeded to say let's get some pumpkins so we headed to the Pumpkin area and no large pumpkins! They had two small pumpkin patches with about 40 to 60 Punkin's in each pile half of them are old and rotten their field where you can handpick them was half dead and only about an eighth of it had pumpkins to choose from. I would highly recommend you take your family to any other pumpkin farm rather than this one.

However, there were hardly any cars, so we could do a slow, easy drive. It was still magical with lots of lights throughout this neighborhood. The standout feature was that the streets were lined with continuous strings of white lights that swagged down the participating areas, creating lit paths to follow. It was impressive! There were definitely some houses that went above, while others were more simple, but all delightful to see. Here & there, Christmas trees were in the middle of a court or roundabout. We aren't familiar with the neighborhood & lost track of how we meandered through, so next year we'll try to figure out a good route. We'll definitely plan to come back earlier during the next holiday season to enjoy the full experience.

We stopped here after dining at Farrel's, which meant that we had little or no room for the Italian yummies! We did try the fried calamari and lasagna tho! The calamari was oil laden and the lasagna.....meh! Regardless of our mishap, there were a number of Italian food choices: *Gelato *Cannoli *Zeppole *Tiramisu *Spaghetti and meatballs *Sausage and peppers sandwiches *Lasagne *Fried calamari Overall, I will probably come back, just for the music and being submersed in Italian culture. We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. I didn't experience any of the negativity others have complained about. It is a working ranch so it's not a petting zoo or a tourist attraction. Go with the flow and you'll have a great experience.

Never once did I feel like it was hard to get a hold of him or that he was annoyed by tweaks to the plan day of. Since we love magic, and my husband is a skeptic and loves sleight of hand, I opted for the mixed package with a bit of sleight of hand and mentalism as well. It was the perfect show for a room full of adults and his energy and tricks were mind blowing. He kept us entertained the entire hour, and even shared some new tricks that he had been working on. Second year in a row going to this festival. This was the first year at this venue. I can't say…read moreenough good things about the festival, they work hard to have the best bands and arrange the set times and stages where you can see the most music possible. Many of the problems with last years festival were fixed with the change in venue. Last year security was a little overzealous when checking at entry with hands on searches and questioning camera lenses, this year it was about as smooth as it gets. Last year the festival took place in September in prime CA heat surrounded by dirt; this year it was in late October, perfect weather and plenty of green grass and shade. Some tips to make this festival more enjoyable: 1. Purchase tickets around August, early bird tickets are much more reasonable. 2. Purchase parking passes ahead of time from the festival (I saved ten dollars like this) 3. Arrive at concert as early as you can (I arrived around 11:30 Saturday and 12:30 Sunday and still required a little time to get through traffic and was long walk from parking to venue (bands start at 11 and there was plenty of food carts and seating. 4. Go to the sides of stages, plenty of room and opportunity to get close (most shoving and pits start in the middle) 5. Don't drink too much Love this festival and will sure to be back next year, really appreciate all the hard work the promoters, venue and security put into making the festival happen

It took 2 hours to get from my house to inside the festival. There were definitely some logistics problems even with being dropped off. 3 mile walk to get in but hey now I know I can do a 5k race right? Once inside the venue was great. Lots of grass and trees. There was probably enough room for twice as many people. I was in the VIP zone which had lots of seating and a big bar plus many food vendors with short lines. Great line up of talent was on the stage. Seether, Breaking Benjamin, Marilyn Manson, Shinedown and Slipknot all rocked the house. Good show. Will definitely be there again next year if it happens.
