We walked in, almost right after the mall opened, and we were greeted right away by a very nice lady. She had great customer service, she was able to help us quickly with a watch battery replacement and a new watch band. She even noted that the last time our watch battery was replaced was in 2013, so she knew her stuff! Not only did she do it fast but it was very reasonably priced! Worst experience ever. I took an old pocket watch in because it hadn't been used in a long time.I got the watch back and the older man pointed to one of the dials that he got it running again and I paid him and took the watch but a few days after I noticed that some of the dials (it had a total of three dials) weren't working, the older man started yelling at me before I could say a word, accusing me of breaking it, and started telling me he'd been doing this for 40 something years and how dare I ask what repairs he had done, he refused to give me my money back and said you don't like don't ever come back, prior to this incident he had been putting batteries in and repairing various watches over a 20 year period with absolutely perfect work and interactions. I took it back twice for repairs in 3 months because it quit, after it quit the second time he asked for his money back and they said NO. Call the manufacturer, I contacted the manufacturer and they are referring me to yet another person. Basically the run around and I'm left with a NON WORKING $300 piece of trash!!! When they break something, they're answer is "find something here of the same value" Not something like " we'll give you money or replace your watch for you". The last watch I bought was 225.00 One that had been on the shelf for a long time and the owner said he would replace the battery free of charge for life. Deceptive sales tactics. My wife bought a watch.. asked for a nice quality piece, and sold her one for $500.00. In one week it stopped working, and we brought it into a shop in Marin County.. where we happened to be visiting. It was a $50.00 watch, labeled and sold as a fine timepiece. I tried to return it, but was shunned. We tried to keep business local... and we are trying to support the local mall. But with merchants like this, I will not use them again... nor will I return to the Yuba Sutter Mall until The Ethan Conrad Company is able to transform the old, low grade retailers, with legitimate merchants. I think tthe Watchman may be good for small watchband pins, etc, where you can not lose much, but otherwise, I would steer clear of these guys. read more

The most disrespectful customer service I've ever received. I will never spend another dime at this s***hole and I urge everyone who reads this to do the same. When making a return, I called in advance to make sure I would be able to return the watch as it was never worn and was only purchased as a gift 4 days prior. I was hung up on TWICE (once by the owner's wife and once by the owner) and told they could not help me. I went into the store after work one day and was told to come back when the owner was there because she (his wife) couldn't help me. The only days and hours he is there, I have work. So, I gave the watch to the person whom the gift was for and she was treated just as poorly. He yelled at her telling her that she needed to have the card it was purchased with or else "the cops will come get him" On 12/30/16 after 4 trips to the store, the owner honored the return. I have the receipt of the return as well as the receipt of the purchase and will most likely have to file a dispute with my bank in order to get my money back given the history of this company. The return receipt shows the transaction was made offline. I'm not sure if that's common, but the purchase receipt shows it was made online. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just another way for them to try and make a quick buck. In addition, at least some and probably most of the watches they have in there are fake. I'm not what I would call an expert, but they had a Citizen Eco Drive missing the first "I" in Citizen which the owners daughter tried selling me for $600! Overall, this was a horrible experience and encourage everyone to spend there hard earned money ANYWHERE else. read more

The worst customer service ever! My mom had me take in two watches where I asked him to please change the battery in both watches. He changed the battery in one watch but the watch still didn't work which he failed to point out. My mom pointed it out to me so I mentioned it to him. He said: "I won't charge you for this but your other watch will work." He suggested that we also change the glass along with the battery on the second watch because it was cracked. We agreed with him and asked him to do both things (change glass and add new battery). He told us to come back in a half hour. When we came back we paid him $25 and he said to not use the watch for 4 days. When I took the rubber band off the watch the glass came off and didn't work! I went back to him again today and he had the nerve to say: "do you want ice to cool down." His wife was completely disrespectful and rude. He told me he wouldn't give me a refund but would fix my watch. He told me to come back in a half hour. I called him to see if it was ready. He said that it was ready and that the problem was that the HANDS WERE GLUED TOGETHER so that's why it wasn't working. I went back and received the watch. It is working (for now). He also told me to leave the rubber band on for four days and the glass should stay on after that. I am a very loyal person and never give bad reviews but he was so rude, disrespectful, and had horrible service that I had to post this! I do not suggest going there at all. I hope the glass stays on after four days. Until then I will leave my "rubber band" on. He also told me to not return even if the glass comes off because I told him I didn't want to the band to be repaired. Horrible! read more

They're ok for what they do. Watch batteries, plastic crystals, stems and crowns. Not much of anything else. They don't seem to do full mechanical watch restorations nor do they have the high-tech equipment to do so. But like I said, they're ok at what they do.I have taken several watches here for batteries and several vintage mechanical watches for watch crystals and have had great service every time. However, If you're looking for a certified watchmaker to do a full service on your Rolex or high end mechanical timepiece, look elsewhere. read more

Horrible customer service. I will never spend a dime in here again! (Seemed that whenever i came in for a new battery they said my watch was broken and unfixable...hmmmm...blew it off. Thought maybe. They were always the same brand...) Today i went in because i had a watch pin replaced 2 weeks ago which fell off yesterday causing the watch to hit the ground and shatter the glass. $400 watch gone. Spoke with the female owner and was told they do not guarantee their work. Wtf?! She said i must have broke it. She raised her voice at me and laughed when i argued. Told me to find another store. She called her husband and he did the same. Blamed me. Must have been something i had done and not just a faulty pin. I must have bent it. How?! This place is ridiculous. I had my Wenger Swiss Military watch battery changed; after using it for a day, it became so slow & sometimes stopped. I brought it back to the store & the owner said that it needs cleaning. He said I have to leave my watch & come back after 3 days. It was already the 4th day & I haven't heard a call so I called him. He said it's ready & I can pick it up. When I got there, he said the second hand broke & he can't do anything about it. He said if he buys a new second hand it's gonna cost him much. I said when I gave my watch to him, the second hand was intact, working & not broken. I said he was the one who broke it! He just said he'll give me $5 discount from the cleaning cost of $25. I would not recommend The Watchman. We took an antique mantle clock in to be fixed and it was returned with the wrong hands on it. The owner lied to us about the repairs and the man who worked on the clock was stubborn and argued with us. We were told to give him ten days to fix it, after two weeks we went in to inquire about the clock and he told us he hadn't even looked at it yet. Do not take your watches here. They will try to rip you off! I have 2 watches that needed a battery. I took one in December and they told me that it needed a clean, $30 to clean it. I told them i couldn't afford it at the time so I took it home. Within a month I took a different watch and they told me the same thing, it needed to be clean. I told him OK. I went to pick it up in 2 days and then he tells me it needed some kind of mechanical work and it was going to cost me 50. I got a little suspicious at the time and told him no. I decided to YouTube How to Change a battery. One of the watches I took to him he had left the back of it loose that i could just open it with my hand. I closed as tight as I could and the watch started to work and it has been working ever since. The other watch I ended up opening how the YouTube videos showed and bought a battery for less that $5 and fix it myself. Never will take my watches to this guy again. These are $600 watches that I have. Not expensive but no cheap either. read more
