I can't say enough about how much I love this place. Dr. Rebecca Fair is amazing and spends a lot of time with me and my dogs. She always provides top-notch care and spends time educating me to help keep my pets healthy. She has gone out of her way so many times to make sure my dogs are well and has allowed me to just show up at times when they are critically ill. I love this vet!!

Loved Dr. Fair! I brought my Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in after a first seizure (he walloped his head the same day), and she knows her stuff! My dog is a bit of a rare breed that is known for quirky health issues like splenic torsion and idiopathic epilepsy. She is the first vet he's seen who didn't ask me what kind of mix he is. I appreciated her conservative approach of "wait and see" but with a plan in place and rescue meds on hand if he seizes again. She performed an exam, 3 tests, diagnosed and treated bilateral ear infections, and I bought 6 mos of heart worm meds (12 doses though because my dog is so big) for less than $400, which I thought was reasonable. She and her husband (super nice guy too) purchased the clinic several months ago and are new to the area. They are renovating the clinic, making it state-of-the-art, and we are so lucky to have her here!

I have had a very hard time putting into words what is going on right now. My beloved Aries (my 11-year-old cat) was diagnosed last week with cancer and yes last April my mom died of cancer so that word just is not what I wanted to hear. I am hart broken right now. I just had to talk about this fantastic vet I found. Her name is Dr. Fair she owns and operates Watauga Veterinary Hospital at 2531 us-421, Boone, Nc 28607 face book the Facebook link is :: https://www.facebook.com/watauga-veterinary-hospital-161866207176198/ I just have to sing Dr. Fair's praises as she is giving me much needed quality time with Aries. she is so UpToDate on medicine including holistic medications, she is compassionate and her staff is always willing to answer any question we might have we have called multiple times a day and they stay patient and understanding with us they answer our questions right on the spot or call us back promptly if they need to check with Dr. Fair. we had thought uncially that we would have to put Aries down sooner rather than latter because to us quality of life and Aries happiness was of the utmost importance to us. Aries has given us so much love over the past 11 years that each and every day has been and continues to be such a blessing. since meeting and beginning treatment with Dr. Fair Aries has perked up and actually started putting some of his lost weight back on he is eating and back to being active and as always loving. Thank you, Dr Fair, for each and every day you give us with him!!!! I do not know how long I will have with him but I do know that every day we have with him is thanks to god and you! I know when the time comes and he has to be put down it will be compassionately done and sad as that is and much as I love him it will be because his hippieness comes before my wants. many thanks Dr. Fair

This is a very caring vet and staff. I will definitely keep my little Maltese as a patient here. Very reasonable pricing.

I have been to App New River Vet several times (about 6, maybe?) in the past 3 years to take my…read moredog, Junior, an 11 year old English Springer Spaniel, for appointments. I never considered this his primary vet as he as one in our hometown of Charleston, SC, that he has attended since I first took him home and who he usually sees for yearly check-in appointments, given that I visit often as my parents, other family, and friends still live there. That said, I have taken Junior to ANRV several times when I've had more urgent concerns regarding his health, such as allergies and hotspots and others. I have seen mostly all practitioners, Drs. Koh, Mervin, and McAdams, throughout my time here. I've had varying experiences. At times, I've noticed that interpersonal communications could be improved, but nothing bad enough to report or really even write a Yelp review about. (Once, I did cry after I left, because a provider said, "Aww, he's getting old. You know what that means, right?" sort of alluding to him being old and dying relatively soon, and, of course, I am super sensitive about my companion). Other times, I've questioned some of the procedures they've encouraged, wondering whether they are absolutely necessary or if they are just trying to gather more money. Overall, however, I have been satisfied and pleased with all of my visits. I wanted to write specifically about my experience today. I have been worried about my dog's labored breathing and finally called this morning to ask whether I could schedule an appointment for him to be seen. The receptionist noticed the concern in my voice, and urged me to come in right away to be squeezed in to be seen. Upon entering the facility, I immediately cried out of concern for my dog (note: this is not a common occurrence for me), and the two women in the front office were kind to comfort me. When I was taken back into the room, our vet tech was very kind with Junior, listening to my concerns, and gathering his vitals. Dr. McAdams himself was exceptionally receptive, effective, and quickly reassured me that everything was okay, providing me several options for treatment and allowing me to make an informed choice. When checking out and paying, the receptionist heard me discuss with my friend (who kindly came to visit us) that I was unclear whether my dog's ear was infected or not, and she quickly went to find the vet tech so she could clarify the diagnosis. Most importantly to me,the receptionist looked me in the eye and genuinely reassured me not to feel embarrassed or like I am "putting anyone out" for my questions and concerns about my pet. This was exceptionally kind and meaningful to me, and I sincerely left this afternoon feeling that everyone on staff cared about me and my dog. I appreciate everyone's help today and throughout my time in Boone, as they have accommodated my random, rather hectic and panicked phone calls and impromptu visits concerning my dog. If you have a pet in Boone, I would definitely consider coming here. Note, too, that one some days they are open late (until 8:00 pm) and even on some Saturdays. I would recommend meeting with Dr. McAdams as he is direct, no BS, and to-the-point, though all the providers have been kind and helpful, as well. Thanks, App New River!

She even sent me a card and flowers when I advised them that my chihuahua, Charlie passed away! I would recommend this practice to anyone. They are all great!
