We had this service from the time they took over for Rays until June of 2024. Close to 5 years probably. During that time so many people complained about them but we never had a problem so I stuck it out. What a mistake. Nasty, unethical, sketchy corporate company that cares nothing about you. I thought I closed out my account with them in June '24. I paid what I thought was my final bill. They asked me to leave the bin at the property and they be by to get it in a week or two. At this point I thought things where closed out. Fast fwd 6 MONTHS!! I get a $45 charge in December 2024 from them out of my bank account. This charge ended up being for bin removal. Now this is in fine print of the contract. I called them and said that it was bad business to do such a thing to a person 6 months later and I wanted my money back. That is on them for not picking them up in a timely fashion. I can't image how many people they have sent to collections doing this shady business. The lady on the phone didn't care if I lived or die and would not back down about the charge. She told me NO ONE is going to remove that charge. I still asked to speak to a Supervisor. A nice lady from the actual NC office in New Bern called me back, apologized and had already started the process to issue a refund. She explained calls get cycled to corporate even when you call their local number. They did credit my gfl account online and sent a bill with the credit. But it sat there. So finally come March I call again. I'm stuck with someone in corporate. She tried to give me a run around. Finally said she needs to just issue the request to send me a check, claims she did while we are on the phone. A week later I log on to see what's going on and they have wiped any records of refunding me the $45. To include a bill they posted electronically in January showing the credit given back. I'm back at square one. They are dirty. Stay clear. I'm probably never going to see that $45 but I hope to save someone else the headache of working with this company and spread the word. read more

There's not one area in this cmpa that isn't totally useless. from customer service to the driver. we've been a customer for 7 months now and we have nothing but problems. late pick ups or no shows for over a week with no response from the customer service department. garbage left behind in the container and on the ground. I even tried flagging one of the drivers when he dumped garbage all over the front of my driveway, he just looked at me and kept driving. I called and canceled my account that day. They never tried to fix the problem but they did threaten to charge me an additional fee of 50$ if they had to pick up their own container. read more

This trash company is the worst you can ever pick for residential pick up. Every month they fail to pick up my trash at least once a week. It's hard to get in contact with them and emailing their customer service is a nightmare. If you can avoid this company do so at all cost. They will continue to up charge you but degrade their services. There was a month where my trash was not picked up for 3 weeks and they say they have no record of phone calls or annotations in my account where my husband has contacted them about the issue. This Company just bought out my Ray's rural garbage. It's been 3 weeks & they failed to pickup up trash twice & recycling once. When calling costumer service, plan on being on hold 30 minutes & talking to someone in MD. I miss the local touch. It's time for this family to seek better another service. Update, this Company bought all but one service & they are currently full. It's been barely two months & they have hit everyone with a $9 price hick for recycling service & will decrease the service from once a week to every other week for $9 more dollars. Upon purchasing their competition, Waste Industries immediately extended the cost to their customers. In order to recycle we have to pay an additional fee. Seriously?!? They sell the materials!!!! The reason? They want us to cover the cost of their cans which are made specifically to work with the lift of the truck. This allows them to streamline the process and eliminate jobs. Additionally, they no longer work around the school schedule and rush hour traffic but rather during peak times. My child is special needs and rides the bus which picks him up directly in front of my house for his safety. The Waste Industries truck pulled up right before the bus. I live on a culdesac. The bus full of school children who have a difficult time sitting still, waiting, and loud noises had to wait for the garbage truck. The driver could have and should have allowed the bus to go ahead so as not to make the kids late to school. Since the transition over to Waste Industries, I have not heard one person in this community have anything to say in favor of the company. Most of the time, I hear them talk about switching to A-1. I am currently in the process of switching over and have so far, found A-1 to be more than happy to accommodate their new customers by providing wonderful customer service, keeping the flat rate, and working around school and traffic while creating jobs for the community in which they serve. read more

I would prefer to give one star. Waste Industries bought both of their competitors and sent letters that there would be no change. Now the days changed they don't pick up recycles as before and now want to charge more for less service. The last 3 weeks, they either didn't pick up the day they were supposed to pick up or they only pick up one can and not the other. If anything falls out when they are dumping it oh well, they wont even pick up what doesn't make it to the truck. They have also broken two of my trash cans. Absolute awful service! If I could give no stars I would. I originally had Pink Trash with whom I was very pleased with and this company brought them out. I had already paid for the year and didn't have an option to keep them or go with another company because they would not refund our money if I cancelled. From the outset I had problems. My trash was not picked up because they stated I hadn't paid. I informed them that we were with Pink trash and paid for the year. After about ten minutes on the phone, the rep found my bill and stated that a truck would come and pick up my trash that day. of course they didn't show up. They didn't show up again the next week and when I called I was told the same exact thing from the week before which was I hadn't paid I went through the whole finding my bill and rescheduling of the trash and again they didn't show until the next week!!! From then on, the trash pick up has been inconsistent and that's a kind statement. They promised to give a rebate on recycling which never transpired. They hardly ever pick up recycling on time. You shouldn't have to call a company about service three or four times in the month. The customer service is horrid. If you don't get Jenna, expect for the rep to be rude and uncaring. I'm amazed that this company is still in business and judging from the way they do business and the reviews I've read, they won't be for long!! I would not recommend this company to anyone even if they were giving me free trash service for doing so! My wife is thinking about reporting them to the Better Business Bureau! This company just bought out our old company, Ray's. Since the switch they've been inconsistent with when they pick up and do not take anything outside the garbage can. We never once had a problem with Rays and now I've already had to call this new company about not picking up trash, not picking up recycling, and billing issues. They only took over a month and a half ago. My whole street was littered with garbage left behind after they did their pick up. When we had rays, anything left by the garbage can was picked up. Upon moving to Richlands in 2015 we signed up with Ray's Trash service and were very happy with them, Unfortunately they got bought out by Waste Industries. Right from the jump it was nothing but bad service. They charged us for a month of service we didn't even receive, our trash/recycling was not picked up on time and the very first time our garbage was picked up our trash can was badly damaged. When I was finally able to get someone with customer care on the phone to have a can replacement and to deal with the overcharged account issue ...nothing was done. We waited two weeks for someone to come out and replace the trash can (never got replaced) never received a call back from the accounting department as promised. So after another few hours on another day trying to get someone on the phone we decided to just go ahead and cancel service (or lack there of). Why bother paying $25 just for trash pickup that's not reliable when for just a couple of bucks you can go to the trash dump yourself. read more

This company has terrible service. They have been inconsistent with pick up times. They have since dropped services and are charging the same. Our recycling was missed, for the entire street, but every time I tried to call they were busy. I was finally able to get through and assured someone would be by to pick it up for the whole street. Three days later someone came, but just for ours, not the rest of the street. Today they drove right by our house and my husband had to go out there on their turn around to get it. This trash company is GARBAGE. Waste industries recently bought over my old trash company and I was told the prices would remain the same and the trash/recycling days would remain the same. THEY HAVENT CAME ON THE SAME DAY AS MY OLD COMPANY ONCE. Everyone in my neighborhood continues to put their trash out on the normal trash day because nobody has a clue when they will be coming, and because I live toward the coast it can be windy occasionally causing everyone's recycling to blow everywhere. I just got off the phone with their customer service and it was TERRIBLE. The lady continued to cut me off every time I spoke. But she informed me that recycling was now an extra charge and they only would come once every two weeks which I was never informed until now. I would much rather pay another company more money than to stay with this unreliable, shady company. read more

I set up service July 10 & have yet to receive the trash and recycling containers that should have been dropped off "within 7-10 days." I called at 2 weeks and was told "Yeah. They're working on it. We're behind on dropping off containers and will get to it when they can." Would not give me a "no later than date." I have called 4 times since and been told everything from "by the end of the week" to "They are dropping off today. I'll make sure your address is on the top of the list" to "You need to talk to a supervisor, but he stepped away. Give me your number & I'll have him call you right back" to "I'm going to send you to the supervisor's voicemail. He's really good about getting back to people." My voicemail explained that I'm tired of waiting for a receptacle I've already paid for and they can cancel our service at the end of the quarter. How can it really be this bad? The two stars are only b/c they do actually pick up our trash, but it's ridiculous that I have to store trash in my garage. Or in my recycling container while using a separate container for recycling. Reorganizing the night before trash pickup and having to leave bags & trash out in the grass over the last two months is unacceptable. read more

They are horrible. They would not pick up a trash bag that I had on top of the trash bin (I had an overflow because I missed the notice about the service day change). The trash bag in reference was left. My trash bin was conveniently left in the middle of my driveway, blocking me from turning in (and I live off busy Hwy. 111, causing me to hold up traffic to get out and move the trash bin so I could pull in). Naturally, I called in to Waste Industries (after a ridiculously long wait time) to question why the trash bag was not taken and to report the idiotic and unsafe placing of my trash bin. I was told that the drivers are instructed to not take anything outside of the trash bin unless I called ahead to make a note of the excess. So I took this opportunity to let them know I would have an extra trash bag on the next pick up. I was told my account was noted for this extra bag. Sure enough, I bet you can guess what was taken off the trash bin and still in my driveway this week; the extra trash bag. Good luck trying to contact them, that in itself is an indicator of their awful service. read more
