Woke up to a gorgeous morning with the birds singing, small rabbits hopping around, etc. One of my kids wandered a little far for my liking while he took photos. Some locals said you really had to watch out for the ability to sink down and get stuck in the mud, so they helped look for him when he didn't come back to the campsite on-time. Turns out he was fine -- just lost track of time having fun exploring. :)

This is close to one of the darkest skies in Illinois. There are other options with darker skies (e.g. Weinberg-King) but the facilities here with plumbing and showers make this the best choice. We were served 2 small rolls that were either stale or frozen - I love fresh rolls, theses were not, almost had to choke them down. Ordered breaded mushrooms that were machine made and so hard you could not put a fork in them. If you managed, they broke open to reveal perhaps a piece of mushroom stem, and a lot of air inside. I had the beef tips over rice which was only warm due to the hot gravy they doused everything in. No choice on rare/medium/well on the tips - which makes sense if they were packaged. Prices on web site are lower than menu. Caesar salad barely qualified (+$2 premium over garden salad) - just lettuce, dressing, and a bit of grated cheese. Waitress was pushy both before ordering and during the meal (halfway through she offered us the desert menu and after we declined informed us she would get the check - while we were still eating!). Overall very disappointed. Wife and I sighed and paid our $75 bill + a basic tip. Doubt we will ever go back.
