I went here on my birthday and it was great sushi for your birthday. Most sushi in Sweden is a…read morelittle boring, but here it was fun, experimental, and with different cool tastes that went well together. I think this place opened in April 2014 so it is relatively new but seems popular and I can really understand why! The staff was friendly (only to people worked here) and we got as much extra ginger as we wanted. The service is a little slow (only two people work) so don't go in a hurry. There are only two tables in the restaurant, so book ahead if you want to sit in. However, the tables are right by the door so it is a little cold. I would recommend to take the sushi home and/or go and eat there when it's summer. The interior design, the plates, and the light is however very nice so it is cozy to be in there despite the cold. Also, many thumbs up for the GREAT food. Real good sushi, eat here!

Verdict: Not bad at all but primary when price is your main criteria! Cosy place suitable only for…read moremuch smaller groups though, for all others this is a take out place! Pros: - Aesthetically appealing. - Good bang for your bucks, especially in regards of the large plates. - Nice and pretty wide as well as creative assortment of sushi. - Closest Sushi place to Main Uni area. Cons: - There should be a point with garnish! Chive mayo or Salmon roe spread randomly on and over several sort of Nigiri on the same plate is very much meh. - Rice, is so hard for us Swedes I know! Somewhat undercooked and not enough vinegar-ish! - No sauce applied: nor Soya over the fish nor Wasabi under the fish. That is 99% of all Sushi places in Sweden though.

Don't get me wrong, I don't believe you need to be an Italian to make a good pasta but when it…read morecomes to Sushi I tend to be somewhat prejudice. But If you live in Sweden and still got the raw fish cravings you need to get off your high horses or good luck finding Japanese authentic sushi or for that matter a Japaneses sushi chef. I am not saying there aren't any but I am saying the good ones do not bother to leave Japan for Sweden or for that matter London or NY for Sweden. Having said all that, let me assure you that in Lund, a small town in the south of Sweden but still the biggest university town in the entire country lies a little gem called Rå Epok. At Rå Epok the concept is simple as well as revolutionary and Avant-garde. Sushi needs to evolve and become sustainable, contain locally produced/caught fish which also are and should be restocked. So for all you fatty tuna lovers, stop reading the review right about here this place is not for you or for people in love with any species on the "Fish Red List" ! However if you can access your green conscience, once in a while, and or are adventurous let your taste buds get tickled and amazed by the taste of Nigiris or maki rolls made with char, cod, perch or pike-perch or other seasonal sustainable and regional fish topped with pomegranate and leek salad or Passion Fruit vinegar. The fish selection might sound unusual but still even to my Japanese friends the taste and texture of the Nigiris was the most authentic, superb and delicious. Portion- and price wise the dishes are also good bang for the buck and at lunch time even a better bargain together with the yummy, however somewhat thick Miso soup . I only wish the little fingers of perfectly vinegared rice were topped with wasabi under the file as they always are in Japan. But It is all forgiven and forgotten when your EBLAROLLE (char maki roll with chive, apple and cream cheese) or KRÖGAREN (grilled salmon maki roll with avocado, cucumber and fresh chili) arrives at the table.

This place has changed its name to Reko sushi but its the same quality of sushi. I like the quality…read moreof the sushi and the yakiniku set is delicious too. The rice they use is probably the secret to their yum factor. Rice seems to be the underrated star and yet there are so many establishments that skimp on the quality of the rice. Reko understands that it starts with good rice and good ingredients.

When In Sweden, when in Lund and most importantly when in raw-fish abstinent the best place to get…read moreyou fixed is at Zen Sushi & Tea! This is where you want to go for the best as well as affordable & reliable SH#@ or fix! I'll only recommend two sushi joints in Lund! One appeals to the green and environmentally-correct personality of mine, needless to say aside from great taste, value and quality! The other, Zen Sushi & Tea is where I go to silence the cravings that might not be so attuned to the red fish list! Occasionally I can't help myself wanting to enjoy species such as tuna and prawns! Also I might add that the black & white design is charming as well as sober and suiting! Now to why this place is a (guilty) pleasure of mine; Nigiri pillows that will not fall apart, go ahead laugh but remember this is Sweden we do frequently mess up with the rice. The rice pillows are well-seasoned and in good sweet contra sour- harmony. Fresh fish slices that are cut perfectly thick or thin depending on whether your pleasure happens to be Sashimi or Nigiri! The usual Cali or salmon rolls are spot on, but they do offer Makis with twists and I do urge you to order such. I for one love the shake garlic roll that is made with garlic marinated salmon as well as spring onion which adds a great texture to the roll. Another roll to love, depending on how one might feel about Saffron, is the Golden Gate Roll. The ironic taste of the Saffron adds another dimension to the sweetness of prawns and avocado! I do also love the spicy tuna roll which get its zing from the Kimchi-mayo (chili & garlic) and especially when upgraded to the inferno version which is grilled and even hotter. If you, much like me, think highly of lemon, be sure to try the Lemon Suprise Roll where you get lemon marinated prawns as well as lemon zest, the fusion in between the citrus and nutishness from the sesame seeds is exciting! To be honest the biggest problem I have with Zen is the lack of tofu and leek in the ever so too zingy or chili-spicy Miso soup. I love Zens innovation abilities but one this one they gone a little too far. The saltiness together with the smokey flavor accompanied with this much chili doesn't add or improve the soup. It becomes ratter an unpleasant roller coaster ride on the taste buds! Also Zen offers only 3 hot dishes and they nowhere near the sushi served in terms of quality, authenticity and value. The Yakiniku beef neither is tender nor offers the required depth. Furthermore the reason behind added Kimchi-mayo to the dish is a mystery to me! I would also have liked Zen even more if the fish selection wasn't this limited and predictable. Nevertheless as long as you are at Zen to get help with your raw fish cravings you wont find many other words best to describe it than; bravo, bravo and bravo!
