I have taken…read moremy cats to about 10 vets throughout their lives and I haven't found one this perfect for me and them yet. Cat owners can tell when the vet they are seeing truly has an interest or care for cats in general, and many vets I have been to in Cornelius were consistently not good with handling cats or even pretending like they care about their overall health. This changed at Main Street Veterinary Hospital, they had an extremely friendly and attentive doctor who took her time to make sure all three of my cats were comfortable and calm. They did all the appointment in the same room (other vets didn't do this), which gives you peace of mind. They took their time to give my cats treats and pets in between the entire appointment. The doctors also gave a really helpful chart to see how to tell where your cat is on a body range to help you maintain their ideal body weight. The cat room had a window with a cat hammock and a bird feeder so there was overall a lot of ways to keep your cat calm through the appointment. Biggest of all: Doctor Johnson found gingivitis in my cats teeth and helped me with ways to mitigate that issue. None of the several other vets I have been to recently even caught this and I am very grateful for the fact that I was able to know this now. Not to mention the lobby is very inviting, there's treats for your pets and other things you can buy. They wrote my cats names on a chalkboard sign in the lobby and that was a very sweet touch. I also liked that as a first time customer we got a free goodie bag with some pamphlets, a cat toy, and a magnet. After the appointment they also send you with a document about things that could be potentially toxic to your pet, and treats that are good for your pet. It just seems like they actually care here. Ive already recommended this place multiple times to new pet owners because it's the first time I have found a vet that didnt disappoint me at all!

Our 17 year old pooch started PT and is gaining some serious muscle and mobility back. She is more stable and walking much better. She is spry and I actually had to jog to keep up with her on a walk this morning for the first bit. They have the compassion, kindness and the inner fortitude to communicate with me when it may be time for one of our beloved pups. Being so close to it day in and out, I greatly rely on this insight and communication with our vet to make the best decision for our little pup. I am infinitely grateful to the entire team. It has been quite a few years since we connected with a primary vet the way with have with Dr. Doehrmann. From a vet's perspective another specialist we use said that they had not seen such comprehensive and thorough notes as Dr. Doehrmann's. It was very helpful for their specialty care of our pup. Not only was it clear but left un unanswered questions about what they saw and had been going on. Dr. Doehrmann has liased exceptionally well with an array of specialists and hospitals. Dr. Schanche has advised on some items and been very compassionate and informative to help us with challenging quality of life decisions too. Which it is really lovely the coverage and help is there even if their main provider is out off office that day. The team is really lovely and helpful. They genuinely love the little fur babies and it shows. Original Review This practice quite literally saved our dog's life. She had a stent placed a few weeks prior. She ate a treat that became lodged in her stent and she could barely breathe she started turning blue and purple at home and more so on the way. I called the hospital that placed the stent they said I needed to find the closest vet since they were a 40 minute drive and the primary vet we use is 30 minutes. We flew (figuratively ish) to Bond as they were the closest to us. Literally ran in with our beagle in my arms when one of the nurses heard us pull in. She sprang into action and brought her to the back. They administered oxygen, called the vets and truly saved her life. We are eternally grateful for their help. They called the hospital that placed the stent and looked up the medical device company online (it is a relatively new medical device). They were so quick and thorough in their due diligence to understand location, placement, shape, anatomy around the stent and removal. The treat was lodged totally in the stent. They tried safe ways to try and remove it while leaving the stent in place but due to our little one's voracious eating the stent had to be removed. Which they did and she could immediately began to breathe better on her own. They monitored and stabilized her for transport to the ER and so very much more help! Exceptional team, speed, calculations and amendments to medications that could be given to help her breathing, relax and ultimately removing the stent. Above and beyond is not enough to describe their Herculean efforts and saving our little pup's life. They stabilized her to be transferred as she needed a new stent put post retrieval. There are not enough words and expressions in the English language to express our family's appreciation, gratitude and their exceptional skills.

We didn't stumble upon Lakewood until August when we found Sirius, our tiny kitten, in the streets downtown. He stole our hearts immediately, but we wanted to make sure if was safe to have him around Rocket. So we googled, and Lakewood was the only vet with an opening that day. I'm so glad they were. They were wonderful with Sirius and very thorough. They took a lot of time with us, since neither of us had ever taken care of a kitten so young (about 4 weeks). Yesterday, Rocket was really lethargic, wouldn't eat, and was very withdrawn. We knew something was up, and were very concerned. So we called Lakewood and they got us in almost immediately. Dr. Prior took a lot of time with Rocket and was so patient and kind with him (he was abused before being rescued and can be very skittish). She went over all of his test results with us and helped us figure out how to help our little guy. Today, after some antibiotics and TLC, he seems to be doing much better. We have seen two different vets there, and they have both been wonderful. The staff there is also super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Lakewood.

We were instructed to set up weekly visits with our regular veterinarian for tests, when they wouldn't do it, we went to Troutman Animal Hospital. I called them, explained what Shadow was diagnosed with and they immediately jumped to action. The receptionist I spoke with was incredibly kind and you could tell that she loves all the babies that come through those doors. The Tech I spoke with was incredibly supportive, kind and knowledgeable - before even going in she was giving advice and explaining more of the diagnosis than the ER did! The Dr. was phenomenal, she was kind, to the point and thorough! We can't suggest them enough.
