This little shop was definitely a surprise. First, a little background. I bought a Zuni pueblo wedding ring what, twelve years back, it was gorgeous, sterling silver, opal inlay, amazing hand-carved designs. Twelve years back. After wearing it every damn day for twelve damn years, and getting it repaired every eight months or so, we decided to replace it with something more durable. Off to Old Town we wandered. So as a general Southwestern rule, I avoid shops directly adjacent to plazas -- typically they're over-priced and geared to serve tourists -- and that's what I expected from Warpath (might be time for a name change, guys). What I discovered was a very impressive spread of local work running the gamut, with plenty of solid, sturdy men's jewelry. I ended up settling on something that definitely won't ever need a repair, with their current sale pricing it didn't run much more than a Benjamin, and because I spent, oh, twenty-some minutes making my decision, the wife also found a couple thangs she wanted to decorate herself with. Which is totally good. Buy your lady some bling, she's worth it. Oh, and if you can, get your customer service from the Navajo woman -- can't recall her name, sorry -- and ask about the year her family made Superbowl rings. Awesome. read more

While in ABQ for the Balloon Fiesta, we stopped in to WTP to do some jewelry shopping. Fate was on our side as we met Delores (Doe) and the fun ensued. We looked at every case, Doe was so helpful and patient while we tried on many, many rings and cuffs. She also taught us about some of the turquoise and the style of Navajo and Zuni jewelry. We purchased several pieces and had an amazing time finding them. One piece needed sizing - no worries as Doe referred us to Old Town Jewelers and said they would take good care of us- and they did! An absolute gem of a shop if you're looking for literally anything. I ended up in here by chance back in December, my flight home was cancelled and my one day layover to see my sister quickly became three. I figured while in Albuquerque I might as well go on a hunt for some more pieces to match the Zuni ring I already had. This was probably the fifth shop in old town I stopped in looking for some earrings and I ended up wandering around for at least 30 minutes. Their collection is absolutely incredible. Every time I turned my head there was something else catching my eye. I ended up settling on a gorgeous pair of Sunface earrings to match my ring, although I could've spent my entire life savings in there. The woman that helped me pick them out and purchase them was so friendly and so knowledgeable about the pieces they had in store. Highly recommend shopping here for Native jewelry. I was a woman on a mission. While traveling through New Mexico I was determined to purchase my first piece of turquoise jewelry. I'm not into silver, nor am I into gaudy applique, so I was on a mission to find a simple, understated ring of some sort. Best case scenario it would be gold, but I knew that would be a long shot since the South West is known for sterling silver. I was overwhelmed by the amount of jewelry available at Warpath Trading Post. Cases upon cases of local art that adorns the body. Seriously, you can get lost in here! Thankfully Edith stepped in and guided me through case by case. After trying on a few rings she noted that I had "big hands" which she carefully retracted stating they are "strong". We regrouped and found a stone size that worked with my short fingers and large palms. I probably tried on over 50 rings until I found the one. She was a saint. They happened to also be having a sale on their clothes. Half off the already discounted price. I ended up with the ring and a sweater, because you need a sweater for $15 when you're moving to Las Vegas in the summer right? read more

Over about a week my wife and I visited many shops in three different locations in New Mexico. We found the best selection and prices at Warpath Trading. Our sales person was very patient and had great suggestions. We purchased several pieces including a fantastic night sky men's bracelet and ring. I picked the ring because of its design but it was too big. Warpath knew where to send me for a great resizing job too. Who comes up to the customer and says things about a spouse.. well my husband and I were looking at expensive rings when one of the female staff came up and says. After seeing me standing next to my husband. " oh no he's taken he's already taken. Oh no someone already has him. Then as we go outside she's at the front door smiling at my husband yeah I was flattered that she was smitten by by hubby, but we been in this store before this past year. Next time I won't look the other way. I guess hitting on the customers is part of a work ethic? Im not a jealous woman, but I saw an unprofessional and lack of boundaries happen. I usually never review places but today's visit to this place left a bad taste in our mouths. I went in with the full intention of buying several pieces of jewelry as I wanted Native American Jewelry. The pieces are stunning, the store has alot of different pieces to pick and choose from. The Customer Service on the other hand was pretty terrible. I asked if I could view some rings that were behind glass and the lady that came "to help us" was complaining the whole time about how they were doing a million dollar transaction and kept pointing out the time and making it seem like somehow we we inconveniencing her by wanting to look at rings. Mind you my friend and I wanted several pieces. But due to her making comments like: girls come in here and want all the time and want to buy the cheapest ring" I found to be really distasteful and left with just one single piece. As a customer it is not my fault you only have 2 employees during a busy time. Nor do I want to be treated like an inconvenience and rushed through my shopping experience when I can very easily take my money elsewhere. Maybe people buy the cheapest ring because your sales peoples attitude is pretty bad. I will definitely not recommend this place unless you are doing a " million dollar transaction" . And even then... consider how they treat regular customers. I hope my experience was a one off and they check themselves. Keep the petty customer comments for the stockroom. read more

Lost $260 to the rude owner who did not listen to my specific instructions NOT to mail my special order necklace...that I would pick it up in store... and refused flat out to reimburse me anything though I called the USPS 4 times and they said it was delivered to my box but I never received my necklace. (Written note says it was sent insured for 100$) The owner was also inexcusably rude to his employee who oversaw my order with a gracious spirit. Don't buy from this jerk! I won't ever again. I was making my way across the United state with my daughters in May of 2017. We decided to stay the night and check out The Old Town in Albuquerque, NM. We wonder into the Warpath Trading Post to look. I am not a big jewelry guy. I was amazed at all the turquoise. My daughters suggested looking for Christmas presents. Boy did that cost me...haha. The owner was really helpful with the background of the Artist who made the jewelry. I ending up buying 4 pieces of jewelry for Christmas present. I was once again headed back across the good old USA in Oct 2018 and stopped in Warpath Trading post again because the present I had bought last year was so well liked and hearing from my daughters that a neckless to match the ring or ring to match the earrings from the recipients of the jewelry last year. Hint, hint! Well this time I was alone and I happened to meet a lady by the name of Doe who worked in the store. She was so nice and helpful. She spent a hour with me. I ended up buying 2 pieces of jewelry. A beautiful hand made knife made by an Navajo Indian Artist and 2 pieces of beautiful pottery that were painted with horse hair. I will say I stopped at a few other stores in my travels along the way. The people who worked at these store were not as friendly, the prices were higher and some of the product had made in China on them. I am currently working with Doe over the phone to acquire more jewelry. All in all I give Warpath Trading Post a 5 Star. read more
