I was finally able to make an appointment and had a chance to see Dr. Carr. So I am updating my review based on the actual experience I had with him. He is the most knowledgeable allergy/immunology doctor I've ever had. He answered all questions and mysteries that remained unresolved from my past visits to various doctors (who either told me 'you shouldn't have any issue (which I did)' or 'there's nothing wrong with you (there were a lot of issues)' or 'I've never heard of it (that won't solve my problem'). Not to say he had answers ready on my first visit. Rather, he laid out 1) what he can tell (suspect) so far, 2) what the next step to narrow it down, and 3) practical steps I can take immediately/long run. It was a perfect first step for me. He is also very good at explaining how allergies works, or what certain symptoms mean etc. His practical and pragmatic approach resonates with me very well as it fits my personality. I appreciated the fact that he'd explain and elaborate if I ask questions. His suggestion is logical and proposed next step reasonable. I believe he operates at much higher cognitive standards than most of us, and that we may not know/understand exactly why he is approaching in certain way. While that maybe frustrating, I'd say trust him and just follow his advice. I trust his professionalism, knowledge and expertise enough that I'll listen to him even though it may feel confusing at the time. He's definitely earned my trust on that end. By the way, the frustration to make an appointment is real and I don't account for it in my rating (since that's not related to his skill). Phone/text doesn't work. Oh and by the way Irvine office I believe is closed. Go check online and see if you can make an appointment. Once you know where to go to make an appointment it is a breeze. read more

I like the drs here and they have newer equipments that help diagnose our problems, but god dang they're cheap. Like hire better nurses that gives shots and more experienced receptionist. My allergy shots today were so horrible. Never had so much pain and I've been getting my shots here for 3yrs. Can't imagine a child getting their shots. read more

I feel very fortunate that I found Dr Carr years 11 years ago. He helped me navigate my health concerns and referred me to other practitioners that augmented my health care plan. I would definitely recommend him to others in need of an allergy specialist. Also, I need to give a special shout out to his office staff for always making themselves available to take care of our needs, especially paperwork processing. The billing issues are a nightmare and can take a long time to correct (6 months in one instance). Some of the staff go above and beyond and they get 5 stars, but some seem miserable and it's not welcoming. They could use some updating with their systems too, and make sure the clinics are clean... there was a period we went 3 times per week and the same blood was on the same chair for weeks in the waiting room and on the wall in the private room. If it takes a month to get an appointment and they call 3 days before (call on a Friday, appointment is on a Monday) that the insurance denied coverage (because someone in the office coded it incorrectly) its not only annoying it's a waste of time and a massive inconvenience. This happened three times this year! There seemed to be an honest mistake in telling me my son did not have asthma, only to call back the same afternoon letting me know they had read the wrong patients results. I am happy that the dr had gone over his results again to catch the error made. I am unsure how this happened but it meant more appointments and changes to medications. The dr's themselves seem competent but there does seem to be mixed methods in how they do things which can be confusing when I'm recommended one thing, and the other dr says it's not needed. Some consistency would make it easier to understand the conditions our family is dealing with. Overall I like the Drs but their practice is being poorly run. read more

My son has seen Dr. Carr for the past 3-4 years. They diagnosed him with asthma and prescribed advair and a rescue inhaler when needed. He last saw them in 2019. Today he needed refills for his advair and they denied him. What? I called and they said he needs to come in. Seriously? His asthma has NOT changed! He NEEDS the advair to keep his lungs from becoming inflamed this has not changed! So basically to get a refill they want him to come in for NO REASON other than to bill an office visit. This is absurd! This is an office that is in it for the $$ and not for the health of your child as was made blatantly obvious to me today. read more

I took my 7 year old son to see Dr. Carr and was super happy with him. He took the time to explain everything and did all the right test for my son. We have been seeing different doctors since he was just little trying to figure out all his symptoms and I feel like Dr. Carr is the first Dr that actually had answers for me! We will definitely continue to see him. He also had great bedside manners and my son felt very comfortable with him. read more

Brought my son here to see Dr. Carr, my pediatrician recommended we come in. He's had hives for 3 weeks and it's been a frustrating road!! This Dr was GREAT! Just don't owe them any money!! Wife and I owed $253.00, a third of original bill we were making payments on. We missed one payment Got a letter telling my wife she is no longer welcome as a patient, please go get another referral and turned us over to collection for the $253.00 Must be nice to have so much business to tell patients to go away. read more

the stuff named my kid Miss Allergy!! were alarmed of my daughters numbers for allergies, they don't seem to have experience with cases like that. He mentioned how high the numbers were and even though i mentioned she can eat those items and her body accepts them now, he ignored it. guess what? after all the testing he said but it looks like she can eat them, after making feel my kid like an extreme case. He seem more concern in getting my daughter in a program in his office than knowing her case. I am looking for a dr that is aggressive knowledgeable and attentive to our needs, i am not looking for a smiley dr that is casual. i come from NYC where she was one of the smallest concerned case. On top of that they ask for $20 for writing a letter which i needed to take with me on a plane in order fro me to carry her Benadryl and epipen on the plane. Dr. Carr is the best in his field (to me anyway). He is great with my 9 year old daughter and is an absolutely fantastic doctor for anyone suffering from asthma and allergies. I love my daughter's pediatrician and we'll continue seeing him, but he tends to keep things in-house when a child should be referred, so I was her advocate in getting her referred to this office. They offered us an appointment with Dr. Carr at their Irvine location, and we were so happy to get this doctor. He relates to children just like Patch Adams (see the movie, with Robin Williams), and adults just as personably. I brought her medications her pediatrician had given me, and he said "that bag full right there is all rescue medications. We need to get your daughter's asthma under control." He tested her then and there in the office (breathing tests, allergy tests and a breathing treatment right away because she was wheezing) and got us answers, free sample meds to get her feeling better immediately, and a follow up appointment two weeks later. My daughter felt better right away and it is all thanks to him. I highly recommend him whether you are looking for care for yourself or a child. You don't get any better than this professional and kind soul. read more
